very pleased with service department and Adviser 9/13/2010

I took my Rav4 in for a routine service and was very pleased with both the service department in general and the adviser, Chris, who was so helpful. I didn't feel pressured at all and he explained very clearly exactly what my car needed and how long it would take. I was impressed with how quickly my car was finished and how clean it was when I got it back. Plus, they have yummy treats in the waiting area! I'll only take my car here from now on and I'll always ask for Chris. more

knowledgeable and connected 9/8/2010

I had a really good experience with this dealership, with Craig Henionen in particular. I found Craig pleasant, informative, confident but not pushy (really important to me). He thought, but did not guarantee, that he could get me a package 2 prius in about 2 months (other dealerships told me anyone who said that was lying), and he did. (I would have loved a base model, and no waiting list, but that's not the dealership or the saleman's fault.) There's really no wiggle room for price on a Prius so I can't comment there, although I thought I was getting the all weather mats for free and ended up paying for them. (But I didn't bring this up since the bank check I brought already had that in it so it didn't seem worth it.) Craig was great about getting me the car, the registration (with just the plates, I didn't know I needed to bring the old registration), orientating me to the car, etc. in a few hours/on one day, no return trips required. I would recommend him, particularly if you are interested in a prius - he's been selling them since they first came out and so is both knowledgeable and connected. more

Reasonable Prices 9/1/2010

Watertown is kind of off the beaten path, but it's still a great place to bring your car if public transportation is your thing. I took a bus to pick up my car, which was probably not the best idea. But the service here is great--the people in service are very conscientious, willing to tell the honest truth, even if it's bad. My mom's car was totally beat and they told her not to put thousands of dollars of work into it, and they were right. Also, prices are very reasonable more

it was a breeze 8/27/2010

My earlier experience with car dealerships meant long hours spent knocking down the price and negotiating for a good deal on a used vehicle. But when I drove into your lot and all the cars were marked with fixed prices, I went in and within a couple of hours I was driving home a 2006 Scion XB, which I picked up for $13,352.00. At your dealership, it was a breeze! Thanks for keeping it simple. Toyota of Watertown is located at 149 Arsenal Street Watertown, MA 02472. Call (866) 455-8596 to speak to a Sales Advisor. more

5 star treatment 8/27/2010

From the time you arrive until the time your car is completed you're treated like a guest in a 5 star resort. Each employee checks to make sure your every need is taken care of. The shuttle service is great, the waiting area outstanding and the quality of service is the best I've experienced. more

Excellent Service Department 8/23/2010

I've been using this dealership since 1991, when I bought my first Toyota. Now I have a Prius -- love it! The sales person was really respectful, no pressure, and gave me a very good deal. The service department is excellent. They're always thorough and do the job right. The reps are great -- very friendly, also respectful. They've never tried to pressure me to do anything other than scheduled service (unless they find a problem -- rare in my experience). I also appreciate the extended hours, including Saturdays. The waiting room is great -- bright, very clean, wide-screen TV, free wi-fi, free beverages, fruit and munchies. They also have a shuttle service that will take you anywhere within a reasonable distance of the dealership. more

awesome experience! 8/16/2010

Just bought a Prius there and had an awesome experience. They told us it would take 2-3 months before getting the Prius but it came in only a few weeks. They were really flexible with us, because we had to sell my old car, and they held it for us for a few weeks. The salesperson, Mark, was really nice. He even came by my house to get me to sign the paperwork because getting from Newton to Watertown without a car takes over 45 minutes (!!!) by bus...thanks, MBTA!!! We were really pleased and we love our new car. Sounds hit or miss in terms of salespeople there, so if you go, ask for Mark. He's cool more

fantastic 8/6/2010

When shopping for a hybrid in Sep 09, we came here first. We couldn't get a salesperson to help us at all, so we walked out. After being put off by another dealer, we came back for one more try.Walking in with our scraggy gym clothes, a salesperson ( Alex) jumped up and attended to us right away. He showed us a Prius, took us for a ride and offered book value on our 9 year old Saturn. Since Priuses were at a premium then, no chance of deals, but we expected that.No gimmicks or sleazy tactics, just honest answers. This person really went out of his way to assist and find us a Prius.I recommend getting the base model if you don't need all the gadgets then have them install heated leather seats for $1500. Well worth the money, especially in Boston winters.Only problem I had, and I have faced this with other dealers, he would not take off the $200 floor mats. Its ridiculous, you pay $23 - $27K for a car and the dealers want to stick you with overpriced floor mats. You can purchase better aftermarket ones. When I finally received my Prius, it had an extra and useless $70 exterior option, so that made up for half the floor mats.If I decide to purchase another Toyota (if I survive the gas and brake recalls), I will definitely come here first. Their service employees are very nice and friendly, they offer a local shuttle and their waiting room is fantastic. more

toyota of watertown 8/2/2010

I took my Prius in for routine servicing today and it was a good experience at Toyota of Watertown. It took a little longer than estimated (about an hour 40 min as opposed to the 1-1.5 hours I was quoted) but the service advisor was friendly and efficient and even threw in some touch up paint for free when I asked. I actually bought my car here also, although that was a couple of years ago. That experience was fine although it was in 2008 when gas prices were really high so buying a Prius then was a pretty straightforward affair - I will say that unlike other dealers at the time, they did not try to jack up the prices above sticker which I appreciated. more

Don't waste your time here 8/1/2010

My girlfreind and I went to Toyota of Watertown on a Sunday, simply looking for a quote on a Prius II. After taking some preliminary information, and discussing what we wanted, and after several questions related to what it would take to get us to buy today, the salesman asked ""What commitment can you make that I can rely on to make this quote?"" I am an engineer and deal with vendors on a regular basis, and I bought a new car myself just two months ago (we were shopping for my girlfriend this time); I have asked for many, many quotes and have never been asked to provide any kind of ""comittment""! We walked out without the quote. This was the only time in my life I have walked out on a vendor in the middle of business. We will be happy to buy our Prius at one of the much more reasonable Toyota dealers in the greater Boston area. Pros: Didn't see any in this short a time Cons: Interested in only immediate sales more

no pressure 7/30/2010

If you are going to buy a used car here, make sure you go to Alex. He is super straight forward, helps you without pressuring you (no emailing every day or calling like a pre-restraining order ex). I was looking for a cross over and he took me out in 5 models before i figured out what direction i was going in. He didn't try to up-sell me. In fact I asked to drive 2 trucks that were in a higher price range than I had originally intended to spend. I bought one of those. He got me a sh!t ton of money for my sh!t box car, and sold me my new truck for $1,500 under sticker. Then the Finance guy, Jay, who was fantastic, helped me figure out my payments, got me a rate 1.5 points lower than i had expected (rebuilding a credit score here) and everything was said and done in like 15 minutes. Easy peazy lemon squeezy. I'm picking up my new car today. Her name is Lux. more

Enormous waste of time 7/28/2009

I'll post this in as many places as I can in order to help others avoid what these people. This past Sunday my wife and I went to Toyota of Watertown itching to buy a new car. A little background: Very good credit, long-term jobs, blah blah blah. More to the point, we had a pair of trade-ins to turn in that were both two doors. Why? Because my wife is 6 months pregnant and we need a more practical car. I mean, talk about targets who are ready to buy! We tell the guy who comes over that we want to buy either a New or Used car, perhaps a Prius or a Matrix (we can't stand the idea of a mini-van, though we probably should!) After not answering our questions for about 1/2 an hour, the salesman lets us test drive the Prius. Afterward, he tells us that here is a Matrix, but it is in a lot on the other side of town and can we come back that week to test drive it? We say sure, is tomorrow at 11am good? Sure! We'll have the car here. So dutifully at just before 11 we both leave our busy Monday jobs and head to Toyota of Watertown. He's with other clients. Not a good sign. After about 10 mins. another salesman says our guy will be right over. Five mins. later the other salesman brings him over and the guy tells us that the vehicle is not there. He will have to go across town and get it. I laugh, because what else can you do? So, we say we have to go. He say, OK. No attempt to keep us, no apology, nothing. Having a couple of hours free, we head to another non-Toyota dealership. We'd done our research out here, so we knew that we were buying either a Toyota or a Subaru. Early that afternoon we bought a brand new car Cons: Um, the car wasn't there? more

They're not even good liars 12/20/2008

We recently took our 2001 Corolla - only 70K miles - in for service. The oil light and check engine was coming on - no other problems. We were told the car needed a $5300 engine!! Surprised, I asked for the OBD2 diagnostic code. We were told P1349. Looked it up on the internet: there is a technical service bulletin that says it is a known VVTi acuator issue that can be solved for, at most, $500. When confronted, the mechanic could not answer basic questions about what he supposedly found, and claimed the car was ""violently shaking and unsafe to bring it home"" which is untrue - we ended up driving it home just fine. Manager knew right away they were caught in a bald-faced lie (thinking we'd splurge on a new Toyota for xmas?), and waived the $99 diagnostic fee. I would never deal with this dealership, and recommend you don't either. Pros: Manager waived diagnostic fee Cons: Mechanic lied - what, he doesn't think we have an internet connection? more

lousy service 10/6/2008

It's a good place to buy a Toyota for good prices. Yes, misleading sales people occasionally, but try and buy near end of a month and preferably on a bad weather day. They usually beat others. But, they have had , in my opinion, a long history of below average service quality. In my own case, at least 3 separate incidences. \r So, buy it there but service it at Woburn Toyota or Lexington Toyota or Wellesley Toyota..etc\r Basically, their service frequently s - cks!!! Pros: location and competitive new Toyota prices Cons: lousy service and probably below-par mechanics more

"With gas prices shooting up, I decided to switch to a more fuel efficient car and cut my fuel bills. I bought a 2006 Toyota Corolla LE for $14,795.00 from your dealership and traded in my own used car. Your sales process made it easy for me to purchase my Toyota, and I spent less than two hours at the dealership. The service was straightforward. I liked it so much that I told my friends, who bought their Toyota Highlander Hybrid the same way. The whole transaction was practically completed in 3 easy steps!
