Tony's Original Restaurant

The food there is yummy and affordable, but we've had experiences with having to wait over an hour for our meals. When the food finally came, the served the grown-ups first and my child had to wait another 5 minutes. It's not like this every time, but I'd say about one in 3 trips has been this way...we haven't been back for a few months because we don't want to risk it. We go to Gratiot Road Tony's instead. more

A few months ago we decided to try Tony's on State Street. We were pleasantly surprised at the great food! The restaurant frequents smokers, so if you have a problem with that, you may want to get take-out. We fed our family of five on $20! The portions are insane! I usually make as many mashed potatoes as were on my plate for my whole family! We had plenty of leftovers. It is family friendly, as they had crayons for the kids and a great selection of kids' meals. There were also free suckers on the way out (for incentive for your kids to behave:)! If you are thinking a new pizza take-out place...try Tony's! We asked them to cut the pizza in squares for the kids and they did. A huge pizza was only $9.00 and ready when they said it would be. We like to go here for a home cooked meal. more
