Incredibly long wait, your hunger would have passed if you go here on a Friday or weekend night. Way too expensive for a very undistinguished menu. You're paying for its location-...

If you love meat and looking at clutter, go right ahead. . . 7/28/2005

I was really dissapointed by this place, which is frozen in time and needs a serious remodel. Of course, the entry way causes you to think you are in for a big treat and it does have curb appeal, but inside it's dark and dingy. Anyway, it is a MEAT lover's paradise and while they do give you a lot of food for the money, there was really nothing spectacular about the food. PROS: has a condom machine in the ladies bathroom, lol! CONS: dust bunnies in every corner and MEAT MEAT MEAT more

Best Corned Beef EVER!!! 5/9/2005

I actually made two trips in 24 hours since I was staying at the hotel across the street. The corned beef and cabbage dinner was FABULOUS and the round of beef was very tasty as well. Definitely worth the money. I got the rum punch and it was only $5.50 at least $1.50 less than I'm used to paying for cocktails. Pros: Great Food, Affordable Liquor Cons: Cash only more

Old fashioned American 3/24/2005

Great place if you're hungry and on a budget. It's a cafeteria style restaurant - which may seem weird - but it adds to this place's charm. Huge, huge portions - you won't leave hungry. Come here before or after a movie - it's right across the street from the AMC Van Ness more

Home Cookin' 9/29/2003

What a great place! This place screams comfort food. Everything from spareribs, meatball sandwiches, buffalo stew, carved meat, hot turkey, and more. Vegetarians need not enter. Personally, I had the meatball sandwich and it was teriffic. Very laid back atmosphere. And a full bar! Pros: Food, Prices more

Eat up 6/10/2003

Now, for the straight San Franciscan, I would say eat up, it's great. But for the girls (or guys like me) trying to keep their figures, eat lightly. The food is so tempting and just scrumptious. Freddy Paggi and I announced our 10 year anniversary there and it was perfect. Loads of funs girls! Pros: Romance, Fatty Food, Atomosphere Cons: Location, Line, Noise more

Tommy be the King 6/6/2003

This place was what SF is all about. Lots of booze, fatty food, and local celebs. I only recognize the comedian from Hollywood Squares and the new tv guy Bob Harris, but it was a blast anyway. Everyone should hit the ""Joynt"". Pros: Celebs, Food, Beer Cons: Price, Noise more

Celebs galore 6/5/2003

I enjoyed the tasty food and friendly service. Lots of celebs were in that night like Comedian Mike Gallant, T-Lathe from the Warriors, Wrestler Suga Bear Wolgamott, rapper EZ Ed and the 541 Posse, tv star Bob Harris, and VFW legend Virgil Gann. I was in star heaven. The place was a blast regardless and I would recomend to all. Pros: Celebs, Celebs, Celebs Cons: Price, Line, Noise more

Good food and kitsch 4/29/2003

A great value. I'm my rugby team's manager and I took them here after we checked in to the hotel. It's open late. It has good food and it will fit groups. The portions were smaller than previous reviews made me believe but still ample. The best praise that I can give it is that some of the guys went back the next night. Pros: Large, ample portions, open late more

Eat till you DROP 9/6/2002

Tommys piles your plate SO high that I've left a couple of times feeling bloated! HAHHA They've got GREAT specials and they change from week to week. I never seem to get tired of it. The Variety from Sandwiches to their Meat Loaf is excellent! It's not a 'high, classy' restaurant, but more of a sit in, with a big bar and some tables. It kind of gives you a feeling of maybe a 70's diner? Don't expect much from it's environment, but it's food is AWESOME! Pros: cheap, lots of food more

Flavor 8/8/2002

This place is San Francisco from the outside until you order Tommys is the place to eat. The prices are great. It's the atomsphere at Tommys that makes this place special you can dine with rock stars or the guy who lives up the street. Pros: Good Food, Service, People more

College carnivores delight! 7/25/2002

Attention college carnivores, you have several choices, and they are all very tasty. They pile your plate so high that you pretty much roll yourself to your car next door. If you don't know what you want, though, take a step back and let the others go- the lines do move fast and they like to keep it that way. They are friendly, but they kinda frown on you standing there mulling over whether you want the ham or the roast for 5 minutes. There's also a bar where you can get pretty much anything you want- provided you're of age. There's tons of stuff to look at on the walls, making the dining experience a long and interesting one! I went here regularly in college b/c it was cheap & they piled the food on HIGH! So for college carnivores, it's a good deal. Pros: lots of food 4 cheap, interesting decor, parking next door Cons: dark neighborhood more
