Bad Customer Service 8/4/2011

This location of Tiny's epitomizes everything that is bad with customer service in Portland. The barista makes you wait to order while she converses with someone for five minutes. Just as you are about to leave in disgust, they take your sandwich order, screw it up and don't care. Thanks for the cold un-toasted ""hot"" sandwich. This has happened too many times- I will never set foot int he joint again. Some of the help is just plain nasty. more

Fun Place 6/24/2009

I just discovered Tiny's. What a great neighborhood place! I've taken to hanging out there to work on my book. They have great wi-fi, excellent coffee, a cool outdoor patio, and tremendous service. If only they had more cold stuff to drink, it would be nirvana. But as it is, it's pretty close to perfect. Oh, and political correctness aside, the baristas are hot! Pros: Pretty Baristas Cons: It would be nice if they had blended drinks. more

Getting Better 6/19/2009

Tiny's is awesome! They have air conditioning. The coffee kicks a**. My only gripe is no blended drinks. You can get great iced coffee though, so I forgive them. It's a great place to go online. I can't afford internet access at home, so I'm always there. The baristas are really cool, too. As long as you buy something, they don't care how long you hang out. Pros: Girl Baristas Kick A** Cons: Doesn't sell blended drinks! more

Tiny's Rocks the Best Coffee Ever! 6/15/2009

Okay, so I am a regular at Tiny's. The last poster, Turkeyglu has been sniffing glue, and clearly wouldn't know good coffee if he was drowning in it. Tiny's has the best coffee in this town, consistantly. True, the two anorexic emo boys are okay baristas, but the best of the lot are the new girls. I spent two years judging espresso competitions in Seattle, and any of the three new baristas could have placed. When I moved to Portland I spent months looking for good coffee. Tiny's is the best. But if you're a coffee moron like Turkeyglu, go buy a can of Folgers. Pros: Pinball, Best Coffee in PDX, Fast Wi-Fi, Cool Art Cons: Idiot Turkeyglu occassionaly shows up. more

ehhhh. 5/25/2009

i only go here every now and again due to the inconsistent barista work. if the two skinny men with glasses are pulling shots i will gladly stop in and have a cap or americano, but don't bother unless it's one of them...stick to the french press. don't let the manager talk you into and espresso beverage....yeah it's that kind of place. everyone who works there is friendly and busts there booty. the service is prompt. the food menu is not very inspiring but suffices in time of need. tiny's can be a great way to start the day or a waste of three bucks on a foamy blown out cap with over-extracted shots. pay attention to who is tending the bar and all will be fine. Pros: a few good barista's Cons: too many inept baristas more

Best Coffee Shop in Oregon!!!!!! 4/24/2009

I love Tiny's soooo much. I practically live there. They have the best coffee, snacks, and music. Best of all they have movies on Wednesday night! Plus, I have been all over town looking for fast Wi-Fi, and Tiny's is the fastest. And unlike those corporate monsters at starbucks, they don't have a time limit. If you buy something you can surf as long as you want. Pros: Wednesday night movie night! more

Best Coffee Shop in Portland 3/29/2009

Oops! I accidently published this review to the N. Portland Tiny's first. Here it is in the right place. I hang out at the Tiny's on 12th and Hawthorne for hours most weekdays. I love the super fast free wi-fi for World of Warcraft, the delicious sandwiches, and the best coffee I have ever had. I used to be an SCAA judge, so I know coffee. Trust me, these folks are amazing. The best I've had so far was made by the new manager. She has a real gift for pulling the perfect shot. Strangely, the coffee is cheap. I haven't been to the green hell that is Starbucks in a long time, but the prices at Tiny's seem half what Starbucks charges - at most. Try a grilled sandwich if you go - they are so good. Pros: Great coffee, cool atmosphere, free wi-fi Cons: None! more

Food ok. Employees are ""too cool"" to be working there 11/29/2008

I agree, and sympathize, with Katiebug. I work nearby also and would love to enjoy this place. But I avoid it if I can. I hate bothering the cooler-than-me employees with my order. And they have often forgotten to make it anyhow. They are really much to hip to be baristas, but many of them have been there years..... more

Great hangout, awesome food and drinks 3/12/2008

I frequent Tiny's a couple of times a week and I love the food quality, freshness and overall taste. They have great selection of drinks & juices. I've never been in the morning, I'm more of an afternoon goer but I've always received my food promptly - hot and tasty. Though the food and service is great, I mostly go there because it is such a chill place to hang out, feels like home. I can spend a whole afternoon there, though I wish there were a few more games to choose from other than the wii, for the times I just want a break from my homework or latest book! more

good food, REALLY bad service 1/3/2008

i work close to tiny's and there aren't many good places to go for lunch, so i go about once a week. every time i think it will be better than the last (at some point, i have to be right, right?), but it always ends up being a disappointment. they have really good food and coffee, but the problem is that you have to wait FOREVER while the employees catch up on all their gossip before they can make your sandwich. TWICE they have completely forgotten my order, twice they got it completely wrong, and every single time i have to wait a really long time for my order. i practically have to inhale my lunch so i can get back to work on time. BUT they do have a new employee that i am hopeful about - she seems to be more on top of things than her lazy coworkers. let's hope they don't corrupt her work ethic. more

Fun!Fun! 12/15/2006

I would highly recommend this place! Not only do they serve great coffee and breakfast sandwiches, but the servers are lots of fun!Great location - Great music - Supper fun atmosphere! I have been going here for years and finally decided to let everyone know what I think.Check it out you'll love it!!! more

They messed it all up.... 4/21/2006

I asked for one of the bagel sandwiches with cheddar instead of swiss and add cream cheese (which I payed .50 for). I didn't receive any of these changes when I got my sandwich. They also overcharged me by $2. The products are good. The service is bad. Pros: Nice art., Good Juices. Cons: Unnattentive servers, Servers overcharge. more

Great Place to Chill 11/13/2005

Excellent french press house coffee. SE location has a heated back deck, which makes it an awesome place to sit and sip in any season. NE seems less busy, so better for studying & what-not. Pros: best coffee in pdx, heated deck Cons: sometimes crowded more

Pros: good music, pinball, happiness more

Sandwiches okay; service leave bad taste 10/6/2005

Ive heard a lot about Tinys but I doubt Ill be back. How was the sandwich? Hard to say. It was probably good to begin with, but it was stale by the time I tried it, since I made the mistake of waiting for my fiance to get his food before eating mine. It never came. He didnt want to say anything, but finally, after half an hour, I convinced him to ask how much longer it was going to be. Theyd forgotten his sandwich. They did finally make him one, but they didnt exactly push it to the front of the list. There was no apology. Maybe it was just the long wait, but the food wasnt particularly filling, either. Forgetting a sandwich is unfortunate and unpleasant, but it happens; this I understand. But neglecting to apologize for it? Tacky, tacky, tacky. more

Their hairbender coffee is to die for. The service is great, and you can sit an read all day if you have the time. Their prices are average, so why go anywhere else. The ambiance is very cool to say the least. Almost all of the customers are extremely friendly. Pros: hairbender, hairbender, hairbender more
