Best breakfast in Atlanta 11/26/2011

A small neighbourhood diner old style with large portions, great flavors, good prices and excellent and friendly service. I will defenitelly come back on my next trip to Atlanta. I had the Skillet Heap with eggs and chicken sausage, it was huge and soooo delicious. The wholegrain biscuit was perfect. Don't think about it more, just go! more

Yummy! 8/8/2011

I love breakfast food and this place makes the best omelets!! The service has always been on point and the atmosphere is cozy. Its definitely one of my favorite spots in Atlanta...I give it a ""thumbs up""!! :-) more

The one on Marietta Street 1/27/2009

The new location on Marietta is as good as the original! Everything is good - everything. Don't walk, RUN and enjoy real food made for real people! The menu is varied, interesting and relaiable. Everything we've had there is delicious and fresh. The service is diner perfect. Get going!! Pros: It's ALL Good! Cons: The crowd? Nah, it's worth it. more

Yummy Breakfast 12/30/2008

Everytime I come to Atlanta I go to the Thumbs Up...was introduced to it by a local a couple of year's ago...and I'm never disappointed. Yes, as others say, you will wait for a table on the weekends if you arrive after 10am, but the food is well worth the wait. The biscuits are fluffy and wholesome-wheat biscuits, mind you, and the other selections on the menu are awesome. The catfish is amazing, as is the steak and egg combo...the french toast is HUGE and satisfying...and there are many offerings for the veggie's in any group. I like to go during the week, when the crowds are smaller, and sit at the counter to chat with the locals. The coffee will keep you wired for the day. Only two complaints...the parking is dodgy...and there are too many good things on the menu to make an easy decision. Pros: great menu selection, fab biscuits, catfish, steak and eggs and REAL homefries Cons: bad parking, long lines on weekends more

Bad Customer Service 12/11/2008

The location on Marrietta Street. The front house manager has a really bad attitude. You will not be satisfied with the service there. the food is alright but the service is horrible. When you place a phone in call she put you on hold for about 15 mins and when you get there she tell you that she forgot. When you go there and sit down her amount of food serving that you recieves changing from time to time and she tell you to just deal with it. She is very ugly to the public and even rude to her staff. more

Best Breakfast in town 12/1/2008

Friendly wait staff; great food and eclectic vibe. The French Toast is the best along with the Sassy Scramble. Pros: Friendly Service Cons: Long wait on Weekends; No credit cards accepted more

Good cook, good food, let's eat 9/5/2008

The food is outstanding the kind that you'll go back for time and time again. I was introduced to the place by a co-worker and I've since taken only my closet friends to savory the goodness of the food. Men are there in all in all shapes, form, and intellect. They all so have a ""Thumbs Up"" in East Point. Not the same ambiance. I will usual drop by on the Saturdays that I'm in the area (East Point). But, the ""Thumbs Up"" on Edgewood is the spot. And I love enverything about it that other people are gripping about. The crowd and to wait is just fine with me. It provides a great opportunity for a longer at the (brothers) men. Pros: Great food and ambience Cons: Parking leaves a lot to be desired more

Great place to eat great food 7/12/2008

Thumbs up is a great diner the atmospher and servicxe is great can.t wait to go back my girlfriend went once and she enjoyed it as well so we have made Thumbs up one of our spots to eat. Pros: A great place to meet and enjoy. Cons: Need a bigger place for the flow of customers and better parking more

Love the Breakfast!!! 6/9/2008

The best breakfast spot thus far. I don't even like breakfast that much, but I enjoy eating at thumbs up diner it is a urban spot with a very relaxing atmosphere. Pros: Great spot to take friends. Cons: It gets busy at times more

2 hour wait for eggs?? 2/18/2008

The food here is awesome. The service is good if they know you. BUT, it is not worth the wait. My husband and I have not been able to eat here in over a year because of the crowd, and we live within walking distance. Go ahead and try getting there at 9am or even 8 am, the people will already be pouring out the door waiting. Another downer....if you decide to tough out the 2 hour wait, you will always have to deal with at least one homeless person harassing you. Pros: good food Cons: long wait, parking, homeless more

Great Breakfast Spot 2/4/2008

This establishment offers the best breakfast in town. I would recommend this Diner to everyone. They are the only place that offers spuds (home fries) that taste like the real thing. This is definitely not a Waffle House or IHOP or Cracker Barrel. more

Best Brunch in the city!!......if you are a patient person. 1/31/2008

My husband and I love the food in ""Thumbs Up"". The portions were very generous and the prices very accessible. The problem is that we show up around 10 am and waited until 11:30. Honestly, if you go to the Flying Biscuit (were the food is also great) you know you are going to wait but this took too long. The only reason why we did not leave is thinking how late it was and that it was going to be starting a line someplace else. In the end it was a great meal but next time I'll go at 9 am. Pros: Wonderful southern breakfast, cheap prices. Cons: A huge wait more

The french toast should be called CHA-BIGGER NOT CHABBALLAH!!! 1/11/2008

Usually i'ma waffle house, ihop type girl, but i've practically eaten everything on both menus.(AM I GREEDY?) I told my boyfriend about this restaurant after seeing it on citysearch. First off, please make sure u look halfway decent, because this definitely has a suave, hipster, new age feel to it. I wish i would've known because i went in looking halfway crazy. I didn't care though. It's kinda small, maybe you wanna get there as early as possible or maybe as late as possible. We ended up getting a small little table next to the bathroom. The menu is INSANE!!! I swear they have every vegetable you want. My boyfriend ordered ""The Heap."" Basically its alot of eggs with potatoes and cheese, a meat and vegetable scrambled all together. Its HUGE! When i first walked in this couple across the way had a huge slice of bread on there plate. I didn't know whether or not it was the french toast. So i ordered one slice just to be safe and an omelet with cheese, potatoes and onions. One word FABULOUS!!! THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. I SWEAR MY FRENCH TOAST WAS AT LEAST 7 INCHES LONG. THEY SERVE IT WITH A CUTE LITTLE BOTTLE OF MAPLE SYRUP. THE EGGS WERE AWESOME. THE SERVICE WAS GREAT, THE FOOD WAS GREAT. THE AMBIANCE WAS GREAT. THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS HOT!!! I'LL DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK FOR 2ND'S, 3RD'S AND MORE. ONE THING BRING CASH!!! Pros: GREAT FOOD, NICE ATMOSPHERE!! EVERYTHING Cons: NO PLASTIC, ONLY PAPER!!! more

Great breakfast food 8/6/2007

The food here was great. While it may not be located in the best area, I still found the industrial nature of that area charming. There were cool shops along the street. This area has character that you jut can't get many other places. But to the food and service... I arrived on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m., and when my party arrived, we were seated after only waiting about 15 minutes. When we left at 11:30, the line was outside the door. Definitely get there early. If you arrive at 11:30 or later, expect to wait for longer than 15 minute. After we were seated, I was in the mood for some fish. So I ordered the fried catfish which was absolutely delicious. It was well seasoned, hot, and crunchy. I also got one of their biscuits and eggs, which was great. Much better than the biscuits you get at the Flying Biscuit. It was a lot of food and not very expensive. I believe my meal cost around $8. I will make it back soon, but I am unfortunately addicted to the crab and shrimp fritatta at another restaurant. I am confused by the parking situation. There may just be street parking...there's a lot in the back, on the side but it's not paved and hard to navigate. Pros: great food Cons: parking more

GREAT !!! Customer Service.. 5/29/2007

GREAT BREAKFAST... Best french toast. But its always a long wait. I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for breakfast and trust me the wait is worth it! Pros: GREAT FOOD Cons: Long wait more

True and Southern 4/6/2007

I have been hitting the top 10 list for a while. I keep coming back to Thumbs Up. Had a friend in from out of town and introduced him to Waffles and chicken. We even went a step further and had it Alton Brown style, with hot sauce and syrup. It was amazing. The wife had the usual 'best French Toast in town.' She was not disappointed. Again, megga Thumbs Up!!!!!!! Pros: Food, ambience, great people Cons: Need to get in early to avoid the wait. more
