Thorp House Inn & Cottages

My mother and I rented one of the cottages during the off-peak time in May. The cottage was comfortable and cozy, the bedrooms a bit small but perfect for a few night's stay with very comfortable beds. The living room furniture could have been more comfortable, but it went well with the decore of the cottage. We were very happy with the quiet location with the cottage off the road but within walking distance of Fish Creek's many attractions. We booked five nights in the Eliza Room the first week of August, and we left after one night, forfeiting $133 of our $250 deposit. The bed was hard (the brochure promised a queen-sized bed, but it was only a double), the room was cramped and stuffy, and there was noise from the room air conditioners in the cottages that surrounded the house. We were awakened at 5:45 a.m. by a truck backing up, probably at the Cookery Restaurant just up the street. The breakfast at this B&B was not very good (undercooked, precooked biscuits, no 1/2 & 1/2 for the coffee, good granola). The building is pretty and nicely furnished, but if you want peace, quiet and luxury, this is not the place!
