This was my first trip to Vegas. Besides long lines to check in, the mgr is very polite (be prepared to ask for the manager often). Room walls are thin (so you can hear exactly w...

Best Part of Our Trip 11/1/2006

I am so glad we decided to dine here. The presentation of the food is lovely, but the taste is exquisite. The attention you receive from the wait staff went above and beyond. \r \r We chose a bottle of Pinot Noir to go with our 3 course meal, which was the perfect amount of food, and the wine expert at the restaurant gave us a description of what we were about to enjoy. \r \r I started with the smoked salmon and guacamole. What a unique combination! The food melted on my tongue and I almost moaned aloud. \r \r The second course I chose was the filet mignon which was so tender and glazed in a savory sweet sauce that was unique and more delicious than I could possibly describe. \r \r I finished my meal with the chocolate souffle which they served in a classic style pouring chocolate sauce right in the center. How divine! \r \r The four of us spent nearly $500 on one meal but it was well worth it. This was one of the best meals of my life and I savored every bite. I will be back for more. Pros: Everything was delicious and perfect! Cons: Pricey but worth it more

Fine hotel 10/30/2006

This hotel is more upscale for the strip. The pool with beach and wave pool is really nice. The rooms are spacious and well decorated. It is at the end of the strip, so the tram is very useful. more

Beautiful room in the best smelling casino on the strip! 10/30/2006

I have no idea what they pump into the air in this casino, but the smell is wonderful and like no other. My husband and I stayed here and had a gorgeous room. Floor to ceiling windows, with a great view of the strip. The room was a nice size, and room service good, but a little slow. We had breakfast by our window twice during our stay and it was a wonderful way to start the day. The casino is a bit far down from mid-strip, but we enjoy the selection of bars, shops and everything in the hotels' caino, so it make it worth the short walk for us. Next to The Wynnn this is so far, our favorite place to stay. Pros: Love that Aromatherpay smell throughout the casino, floor to ceiling windows in rooms Cons: a bit far down on the strip more

Arr. 10/26/2006

Great way to see an aquarium, with the sunken ship wreck theme and all. Sure we've all seen sharks and underwater fishies before, but this is Vegas baby; they do it different here! Comes with free audio tour and everything. more

Wonderful Vacation !! 10/22/2006

Last year my husband and I took a second honeymoon to our favorite vacation spot Las Vegas. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay and we were absolutely blown away. The room was clean and fresh smelling. It had a beautiful view of the strip. The bathroom was large and comfortable. It had a shower and bathtub and the most delicious ammenities. The casino was not stuffy and smelled quite good since they pump aromatherapy scents throughout the hotel. We did not get to use the pool because it was a bit chilly, but it is beautiful. Housekeeping was friendly and did a great job as did all hotel employees with whom we came in contact. I have onl great things to say about the Mandalay Bay and will be staying there next time we visit Vegas. more

Yum! 10/22/2006

We had the pleasure of dining here on our honeymoon last week and were blown away. From the moment you arrive you're treated superbly, the decorations are lovely and most importantly, the food is wonderful. We started out with some delicious champagne (if only we could remember what kind it was), crab cakes, bbq pork, soup, prawns... just perfect. Dinner was spicy beef, fried rice, and large prawns with the most flavor we've ever experienced. We were just hoping we could eat it all but there was no way. Dessert was even more amazing. Cherry gelato, sweet cake, drunk cherries... and more. We can't wait to visit this little gem again. Romantic, impressive, just worth the money! Pros: even the bathrooms were delightful! Cons: make reservations and you're good to go more

Is Puck becoming the Chef Boy-ar-dee of Vegas? 10/8/2006

Puck now has a restaurant everywhere in Vegas, it seems, even at the airport! We went to Lupo before Rock Star karaoke and had an okay meal. It was good, not great, which seems to be the trend for the Puckster joints these days (we had a similar experience at Spago at the Forum Shops). The incredients taste fresh enough, but they're not imaginative enough. We had gnocchi and meatballs, a smallish portion. Salad of butter lettuce and radichio, okay. Goat cheese pizza that was okay, nothing special. The wine list is long and not descriptive, and our server couldn't answer any questions about it, so we ordered a so-so bottle. Overall, we paid more than $100 for a mediocre meal. You can do better in Vegas. We also think Puck can do better. The atmosphere here is nice, though. You can sit out in front of the restaurant and people watch. Pros: Good people watching atmosphere Cons: Average food, a little pricey for lack of imagination more

Upscale Vegas hotel, but has its problems 7/24/2006

Mandalay Bay is priced higher than most Vegas destinations -- A lot of it has to do with their famous pool area with the wave pool and the "lazy river" where you can float around on inner tubes. This is all probably great Sunday-Thursday, but come on a weekend when it's busy, and this experience turns sour as you wade through the masses of people and their families and watch in horror as little kids pull down their pants and just start to pee in the open on the concrete floor (perhaps an isolated and hopefully one time incident, but it scarred me for life). The rest of the time at the pool was spent dodging puddles of water and making sure my mouth was closed in the wave pool, where once again you have to dodge bodies as they fly towards you whenever waves come in. \r Anyways, besides the pool, their elevator system is horrible due to the fact that they don't split up the elevators into sections (higher levels and lower levels). So basically, it is a pain to get up and down to your room more

A little disappointed 7/23/2006

I have always wanted to stay here. Actually, I think you'd get better service at a Best Western. The service was HORRIBLE! We had to beg to have our room cleaned and each day when it WAS cleaned, it was missing towels or soap. Basically service was bad throughout the hotel. Hard to get your hands on clean towels at the pool. A lot of overflowing trash at the pool.\r \r Pool-side bar service was good though. more

Don't go to the spa!! 7/20/2006

We'll just say I had a terrible experience at the spa. I was taken advantage of on my wedding trip and the police are now involved. Beware of massages in this hotel.. from MY experience, they can be the worst thing that could ever happen to you!! more

I thought this was a 4 star resort/hotel. Very poor rooms 7/17/2006

I thought this was a very high-end hotel and was sadly disappointed. Rooms are standard at best. Our room seemed like it hadn't been used in a while. Big stains on carpet, layer of dust on bedside lampshades, burnt out lightbulb in shower stall, no privacy sign for door, hairdryer did not work. The public areas and pool are great (although they had no towels at noon on a thursday at the pool and said they wouldn't until 2pm!) If you don't plan to visit other places and just want to hang at the pool by day and one of their great restaurants by nite it is fine (and don't plan to spend time in your room). But for the price we paid (and money spent thru out the resort) it was disappointing - like staying at an Embassy suite or mid-level sheraton. The hallway carpets were filthy also (which, may not seem like a big thing but it contributes to the overall 'ick' feeling that they just don't tend to the hotel above the main floor). Pros: Pools, choice of restaurants and clubs and 2 starbucks! Cons: Dirty, far from the 'action' more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! 7/13/2006

This is the worst example of a 5 star hotel I have ever seen. The only thing that kept our trip from being a complete loss was the Ringo Starr concert. \r \r The Spa was loud, the staff in the buffet were rude, the wait for elevators was longggggg. We almost missed our flight waiting on the elevator to leave. We called security several times to check out a person in the hall drunk and banging on doors at 5am. They never came.\r \r I will never go to this hotel for any reason and certainly do not recommend it to anyone. more

Bigger is Not Always Better 7/4/2006

My experience at the Mandalay Bay was extreme to say the least. It wasn't until the last day that I got my bearings enough to know where I was going in this massive hotel, but at least I got a lot of exercise finding my way around and trekking to my out of date room located as far as possible from the elevator. The elevators were a traumatic experience to begin with as during busy hours elevator shortages caused excesive crowding both while waiting for an elevator and while riding insider of one. The same goes for the pool. The spa, although pricy, was a safe haven from the masses. Mandalay Place was also fun...I highly recommend Look! and BlankSpace. The gaming also delivered as I rarely had to wait for a blackjack table, 3 card poker game, or slot machine. Pros: Mandalay Place, Spa Mandalay, Cabanas have Ipod Speaker system Cons: Rooms in Desperate Need of Renovation, OVER-CROWDED, Dearth of elevator space more

Not the best 4/27/2006

The pool and ""beach"" are beautiful areas, but crammed with lounge chairs right on top of one another. Rooms are so-so, we had a running shower and some drainage issues in the sink. My friend and I were talking in our room and security was called to tell us to be quiet. This place is ideal for company conventions and families; if you are looking for a true Vegas scene then head to Hard Rock. Pros: Pool, Good restuarants Cons: Rooms more

Worst Chinese Food I've Ever Had 4/24/2006

I went to this restaurant with the intent of having a nice dinner out for my last night on vacation with four friends. Between us, we ordered four different dishes, and each was the worst representation of standard Chinese dishes I've ever had. And what's worse is that the prices were ridiculous. The atmosphere was lovely and the waitstaff was attentive, but it's SO not worth going to without decent food. more

In need of a refresh 3/28/2006

Don't understand how they can claim a AAA 4 diamond rating. Maybe in the past but does not even come close. The hallway carpets look worn and dingy, the room carpet seemed to be in somewhat better shape but the comforters were dirty and smelly, there were holes in the sheets and the furniture was worn and cracked. Cons: old, dingy, noisy more

User review by toroishan 3/25/2006

The decor and chinas used was very artistic and even though it is a fine dining restaurant it feels very relaxing to dine in there. Great rib-eye steak but other dishes were just okay. the desserts are very creative, artistic, interesting and delicious to eat. oh btw, there are always extra charges for steaks, caviar or souffle. Overall this meal worth the money. One thing worth noting is that even though we arrived 10 minutes late, we were sitted right away. Pros: service, artistic, atmosphere Cons: average lobster dish more

Service was less than favorable 1/14/2006

I stayed at Mandalay Bay for a conference in Sept 05. The look of the hotel was amazing, but from the start, the service left alot to be desired. The room was great, but I expected at least a coffee maker, and micro/fridge for $189. I lost my money in the soda machine after a 3 hour walk on the strip, and called down to the desk, but I was told I would have to go to the cashier in the casino to get a refund. While at the hotel, the employees made no eye contact or bothered to say hello. When departing the hotel, the bellman slammed my luggage into the taxi and broke some of my souvenirs. I expected alot more for the money I paid. I left a comment card with my contact information, and I have not been contacted about my stay. Pros: bathroom, lobby, conference center Cons: service, service, service more

Excellent Experience! 12/22/2005

We sat in the wine cellar on the second floor. This is a great way for a group of 4 to dine intimately. The 5-course tasting menu is a great way to experience the variety of the menu, although it is VERY filling. Food was not the best I've had - I'd give it an 8/10. Service however was great - we had a total of 5 people serving us, yet we did not feel like we were swarmed. Since the food is so unique, I appreciate that the server explains what everything is. more

An OK Experience 12/7/2005

We stopped in after seeing Mama Mia! and were promptly seated without a reservation. Service was good. We had the famous pizza - crust crunchy as advertised, but the tomatoes tasted canned. We also had the cheese raviolis. The pasta was a little chewy (undercooked), but the cheese filling was superb! The overall serving size was appropriate but not stuffing. A nice treat was that with our tickets from Mama Mia! we received a free dessert - just know that you must order an entree to receive this and pizza doesn't qualify as an entree. more
