National Zoo! 4/16/2006

The National Zoo is located in Washington, DC. This is a first class zoo and what makes it even better is that it is free to visit it. It is filled with lots of animals and a highlight was seeing the Panda Bears. The Zoo is large, so be prepared for lots of walking. You will have an enjoyable day at this zoo! more

Pandas 4/14/2006

This Zoo is the best zoo that I have ever been to. I like the fact that it is free but you do have to pay to park. That is refreshing these days. It is one of the few places that you get to see Pandas! They are amazing to watch and so cute. The place is really big so be prepared to do some walking. If you don't like a lot of people then you should steer clear of this one. It can be a little tricky to find but it is well worth it. We always seem to get a little lost when trying to find it. A good set of directions and nothing to do for the day and you are set. Take lots of film or memory cards for the camera because you will need it. more

Good Zoo, Great Price 3/9/2006

Washington's National Zoo, is a very good zoo, but perhaps not up with the finest in the country, but on the other hand, it is free. The grounds are nothing amazing, but the variety of animals is impressive, notably the pandas on loan from China. The layout is family friendly with only light hills. more

National Zoo 3/9/2006

The National Zoo is pretty great, considering it won't cost you a single penny to walk around! There are plenty of habitats to observe and a few inside animal houses to keep your attention. The panda exhibit is quite popular, so be prepared for significant traffic if that is your destination. Food is available, but prices are pretty steep. Since there's plenty of food options outside and admission is free, I'd suggest grabbing a snack inside but getting lunch out of the park. more

Great Zoo 11/7/2005

The Smithsonian National Zoo is a great outing for children and adults. The best part is its FREE!! The zoo is pretty spread out and does have some hilly areas so make sure you have comfortable walking shoes on! The busiest attraction is usually the panda's especially since the baby has been born. There are many palces to sit along the way, but most of the benches are not facing any of the aniimals. There are 2 metro stops you can use if you don't want to drive as the parking lot is rather small especially during special events and the summer. I reccomend getting there early to avoid the crowds. more

The National Zoo 10/13/2005

This is a great place to take the family on a nice day, as you will be in for a long day of walking. There aren't many indoor exhibits, but they have a large variety of animals. With the new Panda cubs, as well as the Cheetah Cubs, there is a lot going on at the National Zoo. The great thing is since it is the National Zoo there is no admission fee. I will admit the shape of the zoo itself is not very convenient, It is not a full circle route that you could take, as there is only one walk in entrance and so when you finish walking the zoo, you have double back to the exit, or to the parking lot where you parked your car. more

Our Capitol Could Do Better 9/28/2005

I've been to many good zoos, and I'm surprised Washington's isn't up to snuff. The animal enclosures do not conjure up the natural habitats of the residents. They've had some bad press with animal's dying, and I hope the birth of the new panda cub brings renewed interest. The pandas are the real reason to go, and the one thing that makes the National Zoo worth visiting. The panda exhibit is often crowded. more

Galactic Zoo 8/19/2005

The National Zoo is the finest zoo I have ever been to, and has a reputation as one of the world's best. The location is easily accesible by Metro, and the animal "variety" is astounding. The pandas are particularly famous and well worth the visit. THe zoo has many programs for young kids that adults will enjoy as well. Come for Seal Day in the spring. more

Great Zoo! 8/19/2005

The National Zoo in Washington, DC is great entertainment for the entire family. This zoo is HUGE! I spent the good part of a day there and had a blast ... they have pretty much every animal you could possibly want to see, and a ton of shows and exhibits to check out. The shopping and restaurants are slightly expensive, of course, but no more than at most other zoos. The grounds are well maintained and the staff is friendly. Going to the National Zoo is a great way to spend a day in the nation's capital! more

Looking for a fun weekend activity 8/17/2005

Explore the National Zoo. This Zoo is enormous and packed with various exotic animals. I especially liked viewing the pandas and giraffes. My roomate and I actually um saw some turtles mating haha and these kids kept asking theri parents questions.."Mom why are those turtles on top of each other? Why is one peeing on the other?" It was amusing to say the least. All in all, I had a great time. The zoo is HUGE so make sure you devote a lot of time to navigate it! And if you don't like kids, this is definitely not the place for you. more
