The Chocolate Haus

If you are a chocolate lover, then this is a stop you must make if you are passing anywhere near the Amana Colonies. There is limited parking just outside their building. They have a great selection of fresh fudge to choose from. My personal favorite is the Turtle Fudge and the Peanut Butter Fudge. more

This delectible delight is located in nearby Amana, IA in what is better known by all as "The Amana Colonies". Though it is a bit of a drive from Iowa City, (about 20 miles) I felt this confectionary was well worth the drive. Stocked with chocolate galore....thus the name....you will find this store a chocolate lovers delight! The mere varieties of fudge alone can send my credit card into "sugar shock" and can get me through many a stressful day! Though the prices may seem a bit on the high side, remember that all candy made for this shop is made of only the best ingredients....butter....sweet milk...and of course chocolate! For all those visitors to the Iowa City area, be sure to check out this shop, as well as the rest of Amana as well. I promise you won't be disappointed....and you'll have a great time as well choosing gifts for others....and for yourself as well! more

I love to stop by the Chocolate Haus after visiting some of the other shop and eating in the Amanas. There are so many different types of fudge to choose from. So very hard to make a decision. You can even see them making candy in the great big pot. more

The drive to Amana is worth stopping at the Chocolate Haus. You can watch them making the fudge right out front. The smell of chocolate and sugar is very strong so this is not for the faint of heart. My personal favorite is the turtle fudge and the mint fudge. All of the fudge varieties are good. They do have other chocolate creations but the fudge overcame me. more

Leave your diet at home! The Chocolate Haus has the most delicious creations. You can not resist the wonderful chocolates. Some of them are huge! Everything is great. They have fudge, turtles, antlers, truffles, and more! They are handmade and if you are lucky you can see them making some of the chocolates in the store. A great place to take out of town guests. Just thinking about the store makes me hungry. more
