Yellow Brick Road is dishonest, out-right lying, horrible repairs 9/18/2009

Well, I experienced first hand with both the owner, Gary, and the repair person, Kieth, out-right lying to my face and repeatedly. I was charged 75.00 to replace one french hook wire on my expensive silver and pearl earrings. I was told that they had to use the "laser" to do it so that was why it cost so much. Then that same wire broke twice, at the arch, where it was soldered, not completely replaced. Of course it would brake at such a compromised spot with a flimsy soldering! Insult to injury was to be ignored after approaching them face to face quite nicely, giving them a chance to redeem themselves. No such luck. Unbelievable, reprehensible, no excuse. They just went quiet. This was only part of the lying, only part of the rip-off. Too much to write. They lost a very nice, good customer that purchased several items. Never again will I shop in that store. Horrible attitudes and horrible business practices. I should have been given my 75.00 back. They will never get an more

Rude service; unscrupulous sales tactics; no return policy 11/17/2008

Wow. This place is amazingly bad. The owner is jaw-droppingly rude and their sales tactics are questionable at best. They have a no-return policy, but the staff won't mention it (until after you've made your purchase, of course). This policy is posted, just nowhere obvious - it's in very small print on the counter. Avoid this place like the plague. more

The Yellow Brick Road - no refund on damaged jewelry - poor quality stones 4/8/2008

I purchased a peridot pendant from this shop. Prior to purchase, I asked the owner to examine it for any defects or damage. I was assured that the stone was in perfect condition, free of defects. Upon arriving home, I examined the stone under better lighting to discover a chip on the right girdle of the peridot. It also had some minor chips on left girdle side. I returned the pendant to Yellow Brick Road the following day. The owner refused to refund my money and basically told me to live with the defects of the stone. I paid $1190.00 for this pendant and owner indicated that if I wanted a better stone, I should have paid more money. They have a no refund policy in this store, so once they have your money, you can't get it back. Very dishonest vendor with poor customer service. I would not trust purchasing any type of jewelry from them as they don't give an honest appraisal of their merchandise. Does not disclose that they do not give refunds until they have your MONEY. Owner is obnoxious and disrespectful 12/18/2007

I went to YBR in December 2007 with watches in need of repair, and an interest in buying a nice ($300) new watch as a gift. There was one other customer in the store who was being waited on by a friendly older jeweler. When a staff person asked the owner Gary (who was in the back and not waiting on customers) if he could help me, Gary snapped "I'm BUSY, YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT". Mind you, I hadn't said a word to him. I looked questioningly at the clerk, who apologized for his behavior said he "had a bad morning." His morning must've continued for another week because when I returned a week later Gary was snapping at his staff and again being short and rude. His staff seemed to be tiptoeing around him. As a former business owner myself, I find this behavior inexcusable. Despite the kindness of his staff, I will take my future business to The Village Watchmaker instead, who seems to appreciate the business he receives and doesn't act like a jerk to his staff or customers. more

Just ask for Gary and mention that you are a Dead Head. He just might give you a discount. And while there check out their eclectic lines of jewelry. Something for everybody. more
