Drinks were delicious 6/18/2011

What's not to like about the Langham, well for one it's way expensive. But I guess that goes with the territory. The place is gorgeous. It's odd to think that there's this fantastic hotel right in the middle of all these houses. It used to be a Ritz Carlton I guess. It's a beautiful place with a fantastic bar. The drinks are delicious. I had a traditional mojito and a peppermint martini. They were fantastico! But pricey, but I guess I already said that. more

My favorite hotel, although maybe not the best 12/5/2010

This hotel is in the middle of suburban los angeles, namely Pasadena in San Gabriel Valley. It's driving distance from shops and Tiffany's for instance, along with Barnes and Noble. It's set back into rolling hills and lots of greenery. They feature a tennis court and an expansive dining area. Top floors are secured by an elevator key which will keep you replete with snack food your entire stay which might make you feel bloated. The hotel is an excellent place to stay on a business trip, although maybe it is prohibitively expensive for that purpose. It's a nice walk from any two points in the hotel, and it's easy to get turned-around on the property or otherwise lost on the grounds. to some it might be stuffy, but I put-up with a somewhat stuffy atmosphere because it was a huge place that is virtually unnoticeable given it's secluded location. like the city of Pasadena, it's a far cry from a beachfront resort, but I would gladly recommend it for a night or two primarily because it's old fashioned. at $900/night, however, I can't warrant staying there longer than that. The room, for one, that I stayed in with my fiance was too snug. more

Hotel Staff were Outstanding! 8/5/2010

The Check In experience and front desk staff were very warm and accomadating. However, before heading to our room I was informed that the main dining restaurant and one of the hotel bar's were closed for renovation, but there were a few other options to choose from. We were taken to our room which was two buildings away from the main hotel facility and the main hotel pool. The hotel was described as being ""old world charm"" but it just looked like the hotel needed a complete update and renovation. Our room was very large but smelled musty/smoke like upon our arrival. I called the front desk and spoke to Paula ( who should get employee of the month for her services) Paula offered for us to view other room options and then pick a more suitable room. We moved to a poolside room with a large veranda but had no wireless internet due to a recent server crash at the hotel. The grounds of the hotel are stunning but the main hotel pool was quite small and seemed to be always crowded with kids and families. We also used Spa Services which were outstanding! Great Customer Service, Great Room Service Dining, but would suggest that the facility needs to be renovated. more

Brilliant & Innovated - Very small portions 10/31/2009

Terrific food, presentation & service. Michael delivered! Our only constructive input would be to increase the serving sizes. We chose a five course meal and maybe they reduce size to allow for the six course & seven course option. Pros: Creative & Innovative Cons: Expensive & Small Servings more

Not recommended... 2/15/2009

Unfortunately you are paying for the service at The Langham - the food was mediocre, but should have been outstanding for the prices they charge. The ambiance was nice and the staff was very attentive, but again...we went there expecting high quality all around and were very disappointed leaving. We would have been happier at a more casual restaurant, it was very frustrating paying those prices for food that wasn't comparable. I'm rating the dining room at The Langham two stars - it is below average for the category of restaurants that it falls in. Pros: Attentive service, Nice ambiance Cons: Prices not comparable with food quality more

Luxury Hotel in Pasadena 1/5/2009

The Langham offers something for everyone...first off the service is top-of-the-line. You can ask the friendly staff for almost anything, and they will try their very best to make it happen (always with a smile). Whether you are simply visiting their spa for the day, taking a dip in the pool, or dining at their world class dining room - you will not be disappointed. The prices can be steep, but well worth it. Pros: Service, atmosphere, food and spa! more

Excellent Hotel for Family 12/1/2008

I stayed at your hotel on a family trip to LA to\r take my children to a concert at Universal.\r The hotel was much nicer than expected since\r we had booked it on Expedia. The staff\r was very accomodating and everything about\r our stay was great! Pros: Great service, awesome pool Cons: A little pretentious more

Wonderul for Snobs; Dreadful for Everyone Else 5/25/2008

Ridiculously overpriced, miniscule portions, bland dishes and painfully slow service. If you're a pretentious foodie, this is your restaurant. For everyone else, avoid at all costs. I went to this restaurant a couple of weeks ago. The service took forever. We were seated at 7:30 p.m. The amuse bouche, an unoriginal shrimp tempura, was served at 8 p.m., the appetizers were not served until 8:30 p.m. and the entree around 9:15 p.m. I had to eat a couple of rolls to hold myself over. The rolls, by the way, were brick hard (I nearly cracked a molar on them). My entree was the veal loin. There were four flavorless pieces about the size of a half dollar about an inch thick for $40. Fortunately, the portions were so small I could finish quickly and leave as soon as possible. Well, there are three hours of my life that I'll never get back. Cons: Small portions, no flavor, horrible service, high prices more

Amazing Sunday Brunch 5/12/2008

This is the fanciest brunch I have ever been to. Not your typical brunch with vats of scrambled eggs and bacon. Carved roast beef and lamb. Duck. Veal. Giant shrimp. Raw oysters. Crab claws. Crepe chef. Pasta with white truffles. Cheeses from around the world. Incredible desserts. Chocolate fountain. Unlimited champagne. \r \r Everything was delicious, except the bill, which was something like $80 per person. Only valet parking, which I hate. \r \r Certainly a great special occasion brunch, not your everyday restaurant unless you can really pack away the food or just happen to be ultra rich, which many of the people there seem to have been. \r \r Pros: Amazing variety of upscale food Cons: High price. Only valet parking. more
