Terrible install, over promise, poor quality 4/17/2012

I contracted The sound room to install a state of the art, top quality video camera system. The install was terrible. They would work half a day then leave and come back and work another partial day. I had meetings scheduled with the security expert and he would not show up. We were told they had bigger installs and we were taking a back seat. Our install was at $40,000. Not small by any means. In the end the picture resolution is terrible. You can't see anything. We were showed pictures, demos on how the quality was going to be at finish and it's nothing close. we were promised a couple of new cameras for the trouble but when they were not awarded second phase they decided to not hold up to their end of our agreement. The bottom line do not trust them for camera installs. They are no good. RESPONSE FROM Sound Room: Hello Dennis, Were truly sorry that you were not satisfied with the security cameras. At The Sound Room, were fully committed to ensuring that every one of our customers is more than content with our products and service. Because we value your business, we offered to make available the Senior Technical Manager at IC Realtime (the surveillance equipment manufacturer) to personally diagnosis the issue at hand. He was able to log in to your system to confirm if there was a problem or defect with the installed equipment. He made some minor adjustments and confirmed that the system was performing to specifications as delivered. In the future, if one of our systems fails to perform, we will absolutely make every effort to resolve the issue. Dennis, I appreciate you reaching out to The Sound Room regarding your installation. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call me. Best regards, David Young President more

Great custom service 4/11/2011

We decided to finish our lower level that would include a media room in the fall of 2010. Checked out local home theater companies and decided to work with The Sound Room. Our decision was based on our sale consultant, Jered Nagle. Jered was very knowledgeable and most importantly returned emails and phone calls promptly. After getting a proposal from The Sound Room we realized that we had to complete our media room in 2 phases due to budget constraint. Jered was very understanding; he revised our proposal and gave us different options to choose from. We ended up having the Sound Room pre-wired our lower level and we would wait to get the Media room completed once we had the budget to do so. Jered kept us informed of store sales and promotions without being pushy. It is because of Jered that were able to get our Media Room completed earlier then plan and with a major upgraded projector and screen. Our installation team was wonderful, they took the time to explain all the equipment they installed and everything was clean up before they left. All issues were promptly addressed and resolved. Great Customer service. The sound and picture quality of our projector and cinema wide screen is unbelievable. It really does feel like we are in a movie theater. As my 11 and 9 year old said Its most amazing!. Overall the Sound Room was great to work with and I would highly recommend them to friends and family. The Carpenters Wildwood, MO more

We could not be happier. 3/14/2011

Mr. Young, Last week my wife Candace and I had the Sound Room install a sound system and a new tv in our house based on the recommendations of John Walter. We are very pleased with everything. The sound is incredible and the system is so easy to use. It is just fantastic. When we started this John went room by room with us talking the aspects of each room and the different approaches and which approach would work best given the structure of our house. It was very helpful and ultimately differentiated The Sound Room from the competition. Further, he worked with us as we made changes in defining what we wanted. We have been able to create our own library of music and to tap internet sources that make everything we want accessible. Further, the quality of the speakers recommended was excellent. The new TV and a woofer also gives us great sound as well as a great picture. Your installation team of Justin and Doug arrived on time, were very careful in their installation, made recommendations on the placement of the speakers that made sense and did a great job of installing the equipment, keeping the wiring out of sight and cleaning up as the worked. We could not be happier. They also taught us how to use the system. We will recommend the Sound Room to others and will use your help in the future. Thank you. Steve more

Competitively priced products, strong technical consultation and phenomenal customer service. 10/5/2010

I would encourage others to give the Sound Room a try and experience what they have to offer! There have been several occasions over the years that I have walked into the Sound Room to see their products. Because they service the high-end consumer and carry high-end products, I would leave the store thinking really cool stuff, but really expensive stuff. This was a bit short-sighted on my part. Recently, we were finishing our basement. As part of the project, we wanted to install a good quality, reasonably priced sound and video system. Our vision was a little more complicated than just a television with surround sound, but not much more. Since we were designing from scratch, the options were endless. After many conversations at many different retailers, we were not making much progress. This is when we returned to the Sound Room. The difference in our experience was evident from the initial contact. The progress made in the first 30 minutes with the Sound Room sales associate surpassed the progress made in hours with several other retailers. The knowledge of the sales associate seemed second to none. It was as simple as explaining here is what I would like to do and the sales associate explaining here are several options. Of course, there were several options that were in excess of our budget, but to my surprise, the Sound Room also provided several reasonably-priced alternatives and were very helpful at designing cost-effective solutions to the here is what I want to do request. Although I once thought of the Sound Room as expensive, I quickly found how competitive their pricing was. After selecting a package and price-comparing, I found them to be very competitive on every item. The intangible though, is that for the same competitively priced item, you get terrific service. Our experience only got better after the initial sale. We used the Sound Room for installation, although we did several of the steps ourselves as the basement was being completed. It seemed as if the Sound Rooms only interest was in a perfectly-installed and operating final product. They were involved in what would be done and how it would be done, and went above and beyond expectations. When it was time for them to install the actual products, they were timely, perfectionists, and left the worksite very clean. During the walk through of how the products worked, an issue was discovered. There was no discussion of why the issue occurred, and the focus of the Sound Room was back to the mindset of a perfectly-installed and operating final product. The field representatives engaged the knowledge of their technical teams and quickly designed a fix. In just a short time, we were enjoying this fabulous system that was exactly what we had envisioned. I would strongly recommend the Sound Room to anyone. I would encourage people to really examine what they have to offer. If you have a similar experience, you will find they offer products to a wide-range of consumer. Further, not only are you getting a competitively priced products, you are getting strong technical consultation and phenomenal customer service. more

Excellent Service 7/21/2010

Recently I was very close to buying a Bose lifestlye 25 system series. I wanted to upgrade my system and was unable to justify the cost of new television, since I had just purchased one about one and half years ago. But still wanted to upgrade my system a bit. Fortunately for me I ran into Aaron at the Sound Room in chesterfield. At first I was impressed by the knowledge of the salesman, but I was thinking this is place is for the very wealthy, which of unfortunately I'm not. And I felt he was steering some toward some small version of Klipsch speaker system. After I left I was still pretty impressed with Aaron and the store, and fortunately for me I checked the internet for information on the speakers he had shown me. To my suprise I found the speakers were rated very well, and that was on an older version of what he had shown me. I was considering a new reciever too, an Altec brand I think. With all this new information, I went back the next day, and this time came well equipped withh blu-ray discs and the owners manual for my current reciever. I was going to give it the true test, of what I heard before. I have never been so shocked at the difference in the sound. The music was no longer the dominat feature in the movies, it seemed more with the movie than overpowering it. Needless to say I was impressed right off the bat. And even better Aaron had perused the manual for my current reciever and said I really did not need a new one and my old could still suffice. I ended up buying the speakers he showed me, a five speaker setup called Klpisch Quintet System. After I had gotten home with the speakers and got them setup as Aaron had recommended, I could not believe the difference in what I now over what I had before. It was just as good as sitting in a theater!! I can not really thank Aaron enough for not his audio expertise but also in his honesty for not selling a reciever I did not really need. This was an especially great suprise after dealing with the high pressure discount stores, with people who didn't have the knowledge that Aaron did! As a matter of fact he checked the price of the speakers at a discount store and even beat that price by $25! I just cannot say enough about this store or the salespeople there. No more discount stores for me, for all my future audio or visual needs I am going to the Sound Room!! more

December 1, 2009 Dear Mr. Young: I am writing to thank you and your staff for the excellent service we received while replacing our entire sound system. We were the victims of a lightening strike in September, and one of the many tasks before us was to replace the damaged sound system. We met with Jered Nagle in the showroom, and he was instrumental in facilitating and implementing this task. I had become frustrated having to â??superviseâ? many other work crews that were in our house, and electronics is not one of my strengths. Jered promised that he would ensure this job would be completed to our satisfaction. Jered helped us select our television sets, and we trusted him to make decisions on needed equipment for installation. Jered was readily available to us by phone or e-mail, and immediately responded to any questions or concerns we had. He also worked directly with our claims agent to keep him abreast of changing equipment needs. That was helpful, since this language and level of understanding is not within our comfort zone! Jered made this process much less stressful. We really wanted to let you know how satisfied we were with his integrity and professionalism. Victoria, as always, was also very helpful to work with. She displayed empathy for our losses, which thankfully were not major, and also worked magic with her scheduling department. When return service calls were necessary, she met our needs on a timely basis and always kept the lines of communication open. Her follow-up phone calls were appreciated. I do not trust many people in my home, and Jay and Randy were knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. They were extremely neat and always cleaned up after themselves. Jay was also available to us by cell phone to help solve our problems and answer our questions. He is quite talented! The level of professionalism displayed by all your staff made the replacement of our sound system a relatively easy task. We do not underestimate the talents of your staff and the excellent service provided to us. We are equally satisfied with the performance of your products and our new sound system. Please thank your staff for us and extend our appreciation. Thank you again, and best wishes for the holiday season and New Year! Renee and Jim Allen more

Knowledgeable and trustworthy. They stand behind their work and their pricing is fair. 9/23/2009

We completely renovated our home over the last few years and have had The Sound Room install some fairly complicated systems for us. They also have done a lot of work integrating those systems. The results and their support have been very good. The Sound Room was referred to me by a customer of theirs and, when I met with them, I was impressed with their expertise. Dave's knowledge and the people on his team made me feel confident about using them. Their commitment to doing this big project for us and the fact that they kept coming back for more is a demonstration of their confidence. They installed a full entertainment system with a plasma television on the main floor of our home and tied that to a central music system and a lighting system. They also installed a security/surveillance system with 12 cameras as well as a paging system through the telephone. Finally, they created a theater room with a full, surround-sound system that is very impressive. Because our system is elaborate, you would expect some problems, but it has been relatively problem-free. I appreciate that The Sound Room has done a good job teaching me enough about the system so that I can do some trouble-shooting on my own. They are very customer-oriented and get to know their customers well. Dave does a good job of staying close to the customer even after the job is finished. If we need him, he is there. His support technician also takes good care of us and can talk us through any issues on the phone or come out and fix a problem. Dave is a smart guy. I went on a business trip the day that they he had to pull wires from the attic for one of the projects. When I came back, I thought he had pulled too many wires, but he explained that he had done that in case we wanted to do any other work in the future. He did not press me to pay for it, he just bet on the future. Sure enough, we have used every one of those cables through the years. When we started expanding, the cables were there. You expect home entertainment companies to know what they are talking about but there are not a whole lot of companies that understand enough about integrating systems. The Sound Room knows how to integrate and you can trust them. They stand behind their work, including anything that might be an issue. Also, their pricing is fair. Rick Jordan more

Quality products and follow-up service. 9/22/2009

A good company has to provide service after the sale and that is what The Sound Room excels at. You are paying for quality and service with them. I first used The Sound Room about 13 years ago when I moved to St. Louis and purchased a big Mitsubishi television from them. This was before flat screen. It turned out that the television was too big, so they came and exchanged it for a smaller unit. I also bought audio equipment from them that turned out to be really good. I have since worked with them several times. When it came time to get a flat screen, I called Dave. They installed some speakers out by my pool, did surround sound and helped us do an entire media room in the house. The work that they have done for us has been a good investment. The Sound Room also is a company that knows WHO to work with. They recommended the company that installed the cabinetry for our entertainment system as well as our home office bookshelves and furniture. What I like about The Sound Room is the follow-up service. For example, they will come out and fix any problems we have with the remote or meet with the cable television guy to get things working again if there is an issue. You may be able to get a cheaper system with another company, but you will not get the support that you need to make it a worthwhile experience with anyone else. That is why I recommend The Sound Room. Rich Goldstein more
