Absolute worst service I've ever seen from a service provider. I spoke with PJ on the phone, and he ""diagnosed"" my plasma TV's problem over the phone. He didn't really diagnose it, but his tone of voice and attitude led me to believe I was foolish for ever buying a Samsung or a Plasma (although Samsung, and the model I bought, are top of the line). \r \r Once he finally came out to the house, he would barely let me get two words in edgewise. He looked at my screen and basically said, ""I told you so."" \r \r This is the part that really upset me. I repeatedly told him that the TV came out of the box this way. PJ said that there's no way to prove it, but he'd go to his truck and try to help me by talking to Samsung customer service and helping me out. When he came back in from his truck, he said that Samsung wouldn't help me and he was sorry. I found out from customer service that when PJ called them, he had told them that the damage was my fault and there was nothing he could do about it. (It's a 5 day old TV)\r \r I wish I knew who to report this company to. I've already asked Samsung to remove them from their authorized service professionals list because they're giving Samsung a bad name. AVOID THIS BUSINESS!!!!! more

I brought my vintage (1990) JVC PC-Y555 5/29/2012

I brought my vintage (1990) JVC PC-Y555 boombox in. The ""CD-in"" port was malfunctioning. He did a perfect job fixing the issue by re-saudering and cleaning the existing part. He also re-saudered and cleaned other components on the internal boards for good measure. I am happy with the repair job. The staff was courteous, friendly and helpful over the phone and when I came in to the shop. I feel the repair cost was a little high ($25+ tax) for a 15 minute job that did not include new parts. But a lot better than buying a new one and losing my old favorite! I recommend them in general, and highly recommend them specifically for expertise in vintage equipment. more

very awful service 11/13/2011

Took my sansui amplifier to get worked on I walked in the door like a sucker, back in 2010,still haven't forgotten about this horrible experience, As the lady said it would get looked at in 2 days ,she seemed to be eager to give it to the techs, two days later I go back and asked one of the guys (has a pony tail) how does it look on my repair. i told them I was told to call back in 2 days. they looked at me like that as the silliest thing they ever heard. well, after calling them a week at a time, the receptionist lady is one of the most rude and inconsiderate receptionist I have ever encountered. She sits to the right of the business in a stupid desk as soon as you walk in the door. Full of papers that are probably customer invoices from years back and unfinished work . She Doesnt give a damn about your best interest,it took 6 months for them to fix a few bad caps and clean the pots (2). i paid 180 dollars or more on 8 dollars or less of parts and 6 months of waiting time fr me to get my amp back . i know pj,and he is a nice guy but this business needs to be out of business. Oh I forgot to mention that they told me after two months that the amp was ready. guess what? total bs,had to lug it back to them at their sighs. These guys are a joke,PJ needs to fire everybody. Unless he is part responsible for this crap. Its a shame,I have stereos that need fixing but I think I would rather go to tech school and fix it myself,it would be quicker. more

LOOK ELSEWHERE 4/27/2010

I had a plain jane home theater surround sound system die on me(really just the sub/amp unit died). Dropped it off at Sound Idea and they IMMEDIATELY charged me some deposit/fee for them to just to look at it. Well after almost a month and numerous phone calls they hadn't even got around to it yet. I was sick of waiting so ended up upgrading to a much better system however when I called Sound Idea to say forget it and refund my deposit they refused. I understand they need to be paid for their time troubleshooting but they hadn't even touched my stereo yet! They said I could pickup the (still broken unit) but they were keeping my deposit. I wasn't about to drive clear across town into that spotty part of town again so said forget about it and hung up. About FOUR MONTHS later out of nowhere I receive a phone call from some lady there saying they 'found' my stereo under some pile of junk and were able to look at it but not able to repair it, LOL, what a joke! Cons: Took FOREVER, Couldn't fix my stereo but kept deposit more

Great service 2/27/2010

Our Samsung tv failed, and the Sound Idea was on their list of service centers. I researched reviews, and they had the most positive feedback of any of the businesses. I sent an email, and PJ phoned back the next business day. I described the issue and he tentatively identified the problem. He ordered the part and 3 days later, he arrived at the house to fix the tv. He was efficient and polite and gave us some tips on how to prevent the failure again. We'll used the Sound Idea on future repairs. Pros: Quick turn around on repair Cons: none this time more

The best place to take your HI END Vintage Electronics 12/10/2009

The people at The Sound Ideal are just great. They have great skills to fix pretty much anything, but you have to have patience. They are pretty much the only people that fix Vintage Stereo equipment and TV's in town, so they are pretty busy. I understand they can not please everyone, but I am 100% pleased with the service I received. I will definitely take more business to them in the future. Thank you PJ and Rory.... Robert Hernandez, III. Pros: PJ and the gang are great Cons: time it takes to repair more

VERY good service 11/21/2009

The gentelman that was working there on a Saturday (P.J.) told me to come in and he would fix my tv while I waited. He had it done in under half an hour for LESS than he estimated the price to be. I would definatly use this company again! Pros: fixed my tv in under half an hour more

Bad customer service. Really Bad. 6/30/2008

2 months to tell me that they can't fix my item. No updates. \r Only communication was when I called them. No concept of customer service.\r 2 thumbs down. Cons: Everything else. more

ABSOLUTELY SLOWEST, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!! 1/10/2008

Three months to repair a speaker. Two weeks in to another repair (they are the only place that I can find to fix Onkyo), I call back when they say it is supposed to be done. Not only are they rude on the phone and in person, but when you call to find out where your possessions are, they cop an attitude and say it isn't done, without even checking. After being pressed to actually inquire as to the status of my repair, she returns to tell me that they lost a tech, and it would be a couple more weeks before it was finished. If anyone knows of anywhere else that can repair Onkyo, please let me know. I absolutely despise this place, and I would love to take my business elsewhere. If you choose not to listen to me, and decide to use The Sound Idea for your next electronic repairs, you will more than likely regret it. Cons: Bad customer service, slower than slow repair times, bad location more

Awesome Place!! These guys went above and beyond!! 12/20/2007

I recently took my Samsung High Definition TV in to Sound Idea for some warranty work. They came highly recommended from a friend of mine. From the moment I stepped in the store I felt like a VIP. They greeted me promptly and someone came around the counter to help me carry in my set. I explained the set would shut itself off after only a few minutes of operation. The counter person took all of my information and let me know that a technition would call me after they diagnosed the problem to make sure it was covered by my warranty. I was told it would generally take two weeks for the set to be serviced. After seeing all the business they were doing I was not surprised. As promised I got a phone call from the tech who told me what the problem was and it was covered by my warranty. He said they had the part in stock and would get the set out the next day. I got a phone call the following afternoon letting me know I could pick up my TV whenever I was ready. After signing my paperwork, my set was carried out to my car with a smile and a Thank You! If only all businesses treated their customers this good! Great Job!! Pros: Friendly People, Realistic estimate on repair time. more

Use at own risk...! These guys dont understand customer service! 10/18/2006

These guys should only be use as a last resort only and even so results are not guaranteed. What i can guarantee you is the long time you will spend waiting for you appliance to come back to you and God permit, in better shape than when you brought it in. Consider my experience for example. I brought my $900.00 dollar amp in because of a rattling fan and a blown channel. The guy checks it in and tells me that I have to pay $35.00 up front even though nothing has been done to the amp yet. So with my impatience for having my amp back in my car I pay it. We check it in and then he tells me that someone would be calling me in 2 weeks. Yes, 2 weeks. This turns out to be 2 long for me and so decide to get my amp back and go somewhere else. This guy has the audacity to tell me he cant give it back because it has been checked in already and that the Credit Card Company would charge him for the fund???? How is that my problem??? So here we and so I decide to leave it there. 2 weeks pass by and no signs of t hem calling and so I decide to call them. To my surprise, they havent event started working on this unit and for the next 5 days I keep hearing from them the dread word tomorrow. On the fifth day my amp finally seems to be ready although the person working the counter is not sure because the technician did not leave any notes. He assumes is ready because he finds it in the ready BIN. Whatever than means! And so I take the amp home with this bad feeing about this cursed place called Sound Idea And sure enough when I get home my amp channel is still blown and further more, my fan is not working. I brought it again the following week and they started saying the connections is my car might have blown it. No way SIR.. This setup wasnt done in a home garage but rather by car audio professionals and the same setup has been in my Lexus for almost 4 years. Cons: Customer Service more
