Great food, beer, ambiance 12/11/2010

All beers are $5. Some of the high alcohol, hoity toidy beers are served in smaller glasses, but they're all the same price. It's a little place, so it can get crowded. The crowd is a friendly one, spilling over from table to table, with plenty of cross conversation, picture taking, and shmoozing. \r \r For such a small place (no waiter service) the big surprise is THE FOOD. It's excellent. I had the shrimp torta and wow!! I'd go back just for that. And the potato chips are NOT out of a Frito-Lay bag. They're homemade and a meal in themselves. The only negative is the music, which is way too loud for casual conversation. Otherwise, this place is a keeper! \r more

Great Bar and Pretty Good Food 12/3/2010

Can't beat the prices of the various lagers at this joint- priced at either $4 or $5 which is a steal in Manhattan. It's You can keep track of what you drink and if you reach 100 beers you get a T-shirt. Also have good Grilled Cheeses and soft pretzels and I didn't try the Pork sandy but that smelt delicious! more

Worth the destination location 2/24/2010

Yes, this is an odd neighborhood. But it is a welcome addition. (It will give you an excuse to head over there in the even that places like Rudy's & Hallo Berlin weren't enough for you) They too offer Growlers for take home. Ah, take out craft beer where were you in my extended youth? Great pub grub to go with your never ending choice of pints. Pros: Ever changing beer selection Cons: You may have to reclaim your seat more

  • Our focus here at The Pony Bar is to bring you a rotating selection of the finest craft beers America has to offer.

    The name "Pony" comes not from a horse but from the short beers that used to be served in between races at the track.

    We won't be stocking any imports. You may get a Belgian style beer, but it will be brewed right here in the good old USA.

    We believe draft beer is craft beer, so we only carry two bottled beers, Bud and Bud Light.
    We have twenty craft beers and two hand-pumped cask ales on at all times. Our in-house menu board will display the Brewer, the Beer, and the ABV (alcohol by volume) for each offering and our website & twitter page will have real-time updates to our beer changes.

    All of our beer is priced at $5.00. Most are served in our 14oz. blue label glass. Other specialty & high ABV beers are served in our 8 oz. red label pony glass.
