Good Chinese 3/22/2006

Peapod is located in a non-descript building and definately the place you would drive by if a friend did not recommend it. I went here with a friend and was pleasantly suprised that the food was really good and I was able to find my favorite authentic chinese meal. The seafood was cooked to perfection, the noodles were crispy and the the flavor was great. The service was not great but the food makes up for it. more

Good authentic Chinese food 3/20/2006

Peapod is located in Old Bridge near Matawan. The building is non-descript and definately the place you would drive by if a friend did not recommend it. I went here with a friend and was pleasantly suprised that the food was really good and I was able to find my favorite authentic chinese meal. The seafood was cooked to perfection, the noodles were crispy and the the flavor was great. The service was not great but the food makes up for it. more

Not one of my favorites 8/21/2005

The Pea Pod Restaurant seems like it would be a great Chinese food restaurant. Nice location, good parking, and the place is decorated quite nicely. On the other hand, the food is not that good. We ordered 3 dinner specials to be shared and the portions were incredibly small. Plus, one of the dishes was supposed to be spicy and was very bland. The service was okay, nothing special. I don't think we'll be going back to this restaurant. more

No Smoking section is a joke 8/20/2005

We asked to sit in the non smoking section of this chinese food restaurant and during our meal, we kept smelling cigarette smoke.The waiter kept assuring us that we were sitting in the non smoking section and made us feel like we were crazy. The food was nothing to write home about either. small portions and overpriced. Very bland and nothing special. As we were walking out, we finally saw that it was the owner himself who was chain smoking right at the front desk which was directly next to our table! needless to say, that was the smoke we kept smelling and we will definitely not be returning there./ more
