Great food and relaxing environment 1/11/2009

I stopped in for breakfast on Sunday morning. The place was so inviting. Comfortable seats, nice people, wonderful smells. I had a Mediterranean Frittata with new potatoes on the side. The food was excellent. The coffee was terrific. The price was very reasonable ($10 before tip). I will be back. Pros: Great food, comfortable environment more

Amazing Food 11/19/2007

We recently had our rehearsal dinner at this fabulous restaurant, which had just been revamped under new ownership. The food was absolutely amazing, the service was impeccable, the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, and the new owners who also served as hostesses were fabulous! With their custom tailored manicotti (one for the vegans in our party and one for the rest of us), and their amazing wine selection, they made 30 new customers that night. As my wife works just two blocks away, she's been back several times to try out their lunch menu - which is fairly priced and just as delicious (try the curry chicken salad sandwhich, my favorite.) If your shopping downtown at Pioneer Square, or need a place to go that's not too spendy, not too busy, definitely try the Park. Pros: Great variety of tasty food for any palette, fantastic wine list. Cons: Seats four out front more

Perfect breakfast and lunch cafe!! 8/22/2007

I got a coupon in the mail for a free latte from here and decided to stop in and I'm so glad I did. The place is owned by a family and been open about 10 months. They only serve breakfast and lunch, but the food and customer service is wonderful and very reasonable priced! I have since been back in 3 or 4 times and tried numerous things on the menu. I definitely recommend the soups, the paninis, and the bay shrimp croissant. The coffee is very good and they serve a wide selection of beer and wine as well. The cafe has a wonderfully warm atmosphere with intriguing artwork and even tables to sit outside. I know that this place will soon become a Portland landmark! Pros: great food, customer service, and atmosphere more

Excellent breakfast place 8/9/2007

My friends and I found this place accidentally on one morning. We said let\r s give it try, and boy that's worth it. Let's start with the place. It's a cute, cozy, little bistro with modern decor. The waitstaff was friendly and welcoming. The food comes out in less than 10 minutes.\r Each of us got the breakfast croissant (with ham/eggs/dijon mustard/cheese) and a little pick me up drink. The portion of the food is just right, the food also comes with a little mixed green salad. The breakfast croissants are excellent. And then they are also reasonably priced, croissant sandwich + drink come to a total of under $10. \r I've come back couple times after that, and the food has been consistent. Pros: Croissant sandwich, ambient, price more

The Real Pearl of Portland 1/25/2007

Since Ive been coming to Portland, Ive been getting many recommendations, mostly in the Pearl District. Ive tried a dozen or so and enjoyed many but none were exceptional. The ironic thing is, I found it across the street from the hotel Ive been staying at and no one ever suggested it. \r \r Apparently owned by a mom-and-pop, Park Bistro is a shinning example of what a dining experience should be. Perhaps because its a new restaurant (opened 4 months ago) or maybe because they cant rely on the reputation of the neighborhood (such as the Pearl District), yet still it may be the sophistication by proximity to the culinary institute or the fact that the owners have this one establishment to focus on. Whatever the case, theyre doing it right. The ambience is modern decor with non-intrusive jazz playing. Low lighting and candles make for a romantic meal, especially at the tables along the side, cut into the wall with benches. If youre flyin solo, there is a bar as well.\r \r They have a great selection of beers, and are staking their reputation on being a wine and coffee bar restaurant. The wine list is extensive with several flights, all under $15. But the food is where I was floored. I ordered Quail, not my favorite, but I was feeling adventurous. The chef sent out a amuse bouche (a phrase I was unfamiliar with until then) of prosciutto wrapped mussel with some herb or leafy elements. The Quail was excellent and slid off the bone. It sat on a 12 bean mixture that had a soul food flavor. For desert I had a Cinnamon Creme Brule, with a perfectly crisped top. In all, a perfect combination of European presentation and comfort food substance. \r \r My bill was $26 which doesn?t seem right. I paid for a meal the night before that was twice that and not half as satisfying. I don?t think theres an entree over $20, but don?t think that?s a reflection of quality, just the sign of a restaurant that truly ?gets it?. Pros: food, atmosphere, service, price more
