This place has a great atmosphere, we went here for lunch. The quality of the food is terrible for what you pay for. I had a shrimp quesadilla that cost $13.99. It was shrimp and ...

I highly recommend it 3/31/2011

While on vacation, I brought my two daughters in for dinner...not really knowing what to expect as it is new, and we could not get them to leave! They loved the food. They loved the huge sand pit....they had so much fun dancing with the live band and then dancing on our table during this crazy fun dancing that they do in the restaurant! We went back 3 more times during our week-long vacation....it's great not just for kids...my husband and I were able to kick back and relax...which is the best. I highly recommend it. more

The best 3/30/2011

We found the Hangout to be great fun!! We have four girls in our party from age 11 to two seventeen year old girls. It is usually difficult to keep everyone in this age group happy, but the Hangout did it!!! The food was casual, good, and decently priced for the beach. The best part for the kids was line-dancing (sometimes on the table). This place makes it fun for all!! We went two-nights in a row and all the girls loved it!!! They said this was their favorite place in Gulf Shores, and that makes mom and dad happy! more

Best place to go for spring break in Gulf Shores 3/8/2011

We are here on spring break and this is the best place to go on the island. The bartenders are super nice and they are open late with live music. I will definitely spend my next 3 nights here. Thanks Dusty and Shane! more

So friendly 3/8/2011

We were in Gulf Shores for two months and ate at The Hangout a couple times a week. The Shrimp Po'Boy Sandwiches are the BEST! The fish tacos were the GREATEST around. The staff were all so friendly and accomodating and made us feel like they appreciated our business. We made new friends at The Hangout and will definitely be back next year. Give them another chance with these two menu items. more

Beautiful 2/25/2011

We went to The Hangout on Sunday, June 13th. It was an excellent atmosphere. The actual restaurant "Front Deck", as the staff called was beautiful. If you are a family looking for a place to eat with beautiful sights then this is the place to go. Our servers name was Mel. We or, at least I did, ordered the chicken tender basket. It was about 13.00$ for that plate. The music was nice but, just a little too loud. They also have a great collection of antique lunch boxes. There was a man who went around from table to table blowing up balloons for the kids. When you order a regular plate like a, burger the out time is about two minutes. If you order a salad, you're looking at a ten minute out time. Also you have to pay for parking . more

The food was good 2/24/2011

My family and I recently visited Gulf Shores and went to the Hangout. There were about 30 of us in all, and we had people from the age of 22 to 58. The Hangout had something for everyone. We actually went there almost every night we were there. They outside courtyard has table games, sand areas with tunnels for the kids, a bar, and live music. The kids could dance and play while the adults enjoyed drinks, music and relaxing conversation. The food was good. The quesadillas were the best. I strongly encourage everyone to go. more

Great atmosphere! 2/22/2011

Went here on vacation and had a good time.  The food is ok but it is the atmosphere that makes the place.  It is wide open and they have nice couches and even canopy beds outside for you to relax on.  I would definitely suggest this place as somewhere to have a few drinks at when you're in Gulf Shores. more

VERY Unique. 2/17/2011

This is a fairly new restaurant in the area but was originally open many years ago in Gulf Shores, I can't remember the details because our bartender was telling us this as we waited for a table. We went the week of opening in 2008.  Then back the next year a few times.  I agree that the atmosphere is the best thing about the restaurant but the food is pretty good too. Great location right on the beach with lots of souvenir shops within walking distance. The food was one of the best meals while on the trip. The burger was the favorite at the table. The coolest part really was the atmosphere: wide open dining room with lots of spaced out tables, the inside large bar is near the opened windows so you get a great view and breeze, there was a beach-like area, a cantina like bar, and a cool bar with fire pit and havannah beds. more

Outstanding! 2/17/2011

Had the blackened mahi fish tacos which were very fresh and just short of excellent.  Fresh, crisp napa cabbage. Hot cooked chunks of Mahi. Black beans that were not canned and not over cooked. All topped with fresh cilantro and a cool aioli. I requested them to hold off the cheese.  Good call - didn't miss it & would have overwhelmed the taco. All encased in a piping hot tortilla. The salsa was fresh but average. At least they don't use average salsa from a jar. They get points for making home made. Kids chips were home made and fantastic. Wife's chili was, surprisingly, really good. The service was actually outstanding. more

Well worth it. 2/8/2011
