The Grand Banquet and Conference Center

We had my wedding and reception here yesterday, July 3, 2011. The outside gazebo was set up beautifully. The room was ready on time for us to decorate in the morning. At the reception, the people working for the Grand were curteous and polite. The food was delicious. I was especially impressed with the owner, who was very helpful with a couple of setup issues (a name misprinted on signs and cooling the room so my cake wouldn't melt among them) and during the reception he was very beneficial and curteous in facilitating everything, asking questions and waiting to speak until I was not otherwise occupied. We had several special needs because it was a Jewish wedding (they had never had one before) and everyone was very helpful to make sure our needs were not just met but they even wanted to understand the whys and wherefores so next time they would be prepared. We just had my daughters wedding and reception on aug 28th and it was an awful experience. The owner was rude and ignorant the entire day. He accused us of putting hooks in his wall and we did not. we did put 4 tacks to hang lights and he had a fit and pulled them down. Then they have these cheap 2$ plastic chairs by the Gazebo for the wedding guests. My sister in law who is a larger woman like myself sat in her chair and the legs broke causing her to fall to the ground. When I reported this to the owner he just didn't care. He said he had 600 weddings and no one had ever had a chair break. He was not concerned one broke this day. He never apologized or offered to call my sister in law to apologize or ask if she was ok...What kind of person worries about 4 tacks in a wall but the the safety of a woman who fell and could have cracked her head open???? Just had my wedding reception here. We were all very impressed. The ground and inside are beautiful. The food was fabulous. We heard nothing but good comments from friends and family. The only downside was the cost - it was pretty expensive. They did cater to our wants though. They included a dessert bar, and snacks later in the evening. PROS: Decor, staff CONS: cost more
