The Eye Clinic of Florida/ Ahad Mahootchi, MD, PA

I recently had cataract and crystalens surgery. I had put off having anything done for nearly two years. In the mean time, because of being diabetic, I not only was putting my health at risk but damage was being done to my eyes. I was going blind. I went back to Dr. Mahootchi thinking I could just get new glasses. Well, he saw right through that idea and straightened me out real quick on the subject. He suggested I get with the program and do something about both my diabetes and my eye sight. He also suggested I not drive until my eye sight was corrected--my family supported him on that one! So within a couple of weeks I had the left eye operated on and then three weeks later the right eye. The next morning appointments showed I had 20/20 vision each time. All of my fears of having someone do anything to my eyes was very unfounded. I experienced no pain during either surgery which was performed at Florida Hospital in Zephyrhills, Florida. I live in San Antonio, Florida so The Eye Clinic of Florida and the hospital are only about a 20 minute drive for me. No matter how far the drive, it would be well worth it. The staff at The Eye Clinic is very professional, extremely knowledgeable, courteous and caring. They made me feel comfortable as well as giving me verbal and written instructions on the care of my eyes with each visit. I feel Dr. Mahootchi has an excellent reputation which he values highly. I did not expect my experience with eye surgery to be such an ""eye opener""! I am so thankful Dr. Mahootchi is my doctor and I have my eyesight once again and can enjoy the simple things in life again and without glasses. I recently had Laser Surgery on both eyes, to remove Cateracts and treatment for\r Glaucoma. I recently underwent Crystalens surgery done by Dr. Mahootchi at The Eye Clinic of Florida in Zephyrhills. What a wonderful experience! I am a previous RK patient and the vision in right eye had deteriorated to the point where it was of no use to me whatsoever. That's where Dr. Mahootchi and his team came to my rescue. I live in the Tampa Bay area (Lakeland), but found it well worth my while to travel to Zephyrhills because of the excellent patient care and professional expertise I experienced at the hands of The Eye Clinic of Florida. The Crystalens replacement is usually done for cataracts, but in my case, and others like me, it gave me back the vision I'd lost after previous refractive surgery...I was seeing 20/30 the morning after surgery AND I can now read newsprint without glasses! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and caring...giving me written instructions and clear direction at each office visit. I cannot praise Dr. Mahootchi and his team enough...I feel like I've doubly increased my quality of life now that I can see clearly without the hassle of ever-changing eye glass prescriptions and contact lenses. I have experienced no pain or negative side effects and most definitely recommend the Crystalens surgery (and The Eye Clinic of Florida) to anyone. No matter where you live in Tampa Bay, it's worth the trip to Zephyrhills for cataract surgery, just to deal with this great team of professionals! I originally went to the Florida Eye Clinic due to an emergency. In an attempt to be seen quickly, I had made several phone calls to other eye clinics in my area. Florida Eye Clinic was very understanding of my dilemma. My initial contact with Florida Eye Clinic was met with concern and empathy. Although never seen in the office before, they told me to come in right away. Dr. Mahootchi examined me and determined that I had shingles in my eye and immediately began treatment. While being treated for shingles a cataract developed, which is not uncommon. Dr. Mahootchi recommended cataract surgery. I was given the option of a Crystalens, which I chose.\r \r The moment I had cataract surgery and the implantation of the Crystalens my eyesight was improved drastically! I no longer have to wear glasses. My vision is now 20/20.\r \r I would highly recommend Florida Eye Clinic for any eye predicament that may occur. I was very satisfied with my 2 laser surgeries. One for after- cataract surgery clouding of my lens capsule and the other for floaters. Staff was great. Excellent Opthalmologist: Dr. Ahad Mahootchi: I I visited with Dr. Mahootchi and consulted with him about my cataract. The staff was very knowledegable and nice. The Doctor and I discussed options such as changing glasses or cataract surgery or using crystalens. In the end I decided I wasn't bothered by my vision enough to warrant surgery now. He helped me with a new pair of glasses and an open invitation to return if my vision bothered me more. I would definitely recommend the Eye Clinic of Florida and Dr. Mahootchi. Pros: Very convenient location, excellent staff and a very fine Doctor. Cons: None whatsoever. more
