Just ok 8/23/2011

Our couple's massage was just ok. Felt rushed when we entered, receptionist not very friendly. The darkness in the room/reds felt somewhat cave-like. My masseuse had bad garlic breath -- so much that it made it impossible to relax. The massage itself was fine. more

Perfect Couple's massage 8/19/2011

We had a couple's Swedish massage at The Dragontree last week, and everything at the spa was wonderful. The spa was clean and very relaxing, the staff was friendly, and our therapists were wonderful. I would highly recommend you choose The Dragontree for your next spa day! more

delightful foot massage 3/16/2011

I received a gift certificate to the Drangontree Spa and treated myself to a foot massage. It was so relaxing I dozed off during the session. The practitioner was so friendly and professional. I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely return! more

I will be back! 10/15/2010

Hands down some of the best service I have ever gotten at a spa. First off, my girlfriend and I bookend the Moontime Treatment. We were right away offered tea and shown the beautiful space. The changing room was clean and there is a sauna you can use. James was my massage therapist and was great. We did not care for the tea chosen for the package and they changed it right away. We had lunch delivered to us while getting the foot soak. I would pass on this next time, just because the food was good, but in the neighborhood, there are such great places to eat at. I hate getting foot soaks when the water gets cold, and here, they were on top of it! The only negative was that during the end of my friend's massage, someone started vacuuming. The spa however, comped both our spa meals and gave us a free foot soak for a future visit. I will be back for sure. more

Very friendly, great atmosphere 9/6/2010

I can't say enough good things about Piper, my massage therapist. She really gave a great massage. Heather, who did my facial was very friendly and knowledgeable as well. I got a foot bath as well but it seemed shorter than the 20 minutes it was supposed to last. Other than that, no complaints. The atmosphere is very serene and soothing, and I felt very welcome there. Will definitely go back when I have a chance! more

warm oil down my back 8/11/2010

I received a gift certificate and decided on the Shirodharath, which is advertised as "A stream of warm herb-infused oil gently poured onto the forehead at the location of the third eye." Sounds good, huh? I was envisioning the removal of my tight work clothes and lying down on a massage table so that my forehead pointed UP and something could be poured onto it, and somewhere in there I pictured a relaxing scalp massage along with it. Instead, I was told to sit in a chair up on a block and put my feet in hot water, which wasn't bad in itself, but NOT what I expected. After a few minutes I was startled by a trickling of oil coming down my neck as the technician (I was later told she was the owner) poured the oil onto my scalp while I was in an upright position. WTHeck?? All I could think about was the oil was going to get all over my clothes, which were becoming increasingly tighter the more anxious I became. This was several years ago, but I am only now writing about it. I have never been back. I found the treatment very poorly planned, completely un-relaxing and amateurish. more

A spa that lives up to the hype 7/2/2010

My first Dragontree experience was a massage and facial with therapist Heather. The atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff made it really feel like a special treat. The therapist was professional and friendly, and really understood what a releaxation massage should be, unlike other therapists elsewhere who have tried to wrench the stress out of me. The facial was also expertly done and in and of itself was also surprisingly relaxing and theraputic. The sauna in the locker room was a nice bonus,...I left Dragontree feeling refreshed and light, like I weighed 15 pounds less, without a care in the world. I have recommended it over and over to friends and will definitely be back. more

Don't stop at their location in the airport 6/1/2010

I went to this place at the PDX airport. I was thrilled that I could get a pedicure while waiting for my flight. Pedicure price seemed high at $70. Not only was it pricey, it was the worst pedi I've ever had. No buffing, and they don't use nail polish but use a product that is more like putting stickers on your nails. I tried to be open-minded about this sticker thing. But it turned out awful. They couldn't even shape/trim these stickers. It seriously looked like I let my 2 year old niece do the pedi by putting her stickers on my toes after ripping the stickers up a bit. Waste of time and money. NOT a good experience. Pros: no pros Cons: expensive, worse manicure this side of the Mississippi river more

Lovely Treatment 5/17/2010

I wanted to try this spa based on many of the reviews I read and I was very impressed with the spa. The lady making the appointent for me was very helpful and squeezed me in late on a sunday. I had the abayanga (sp?) treatment with a swedish massage. It was heavenly. Kelly was great and made the experience very comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone ad I look forward to my next visit. Thank you! Pros: Great treatments; very helpful personnell Cons: Small waiting areas, changing rooms more

They Know How to Treat People 5/11/2010

I took my BF here for her birthday and treated myself to the same spa package of a facial, 30 minute massage and foot soak. The scheduler was very accommodating in helping us get simultaneous footbaths, so we could chat and relax together at the end of our treatments. Unfortunately I was late and missed my facial, which my friend raved about (especially the facial massage), and her skin was glowing! But my Swedish massage was great and seemed like it went longer than the allotted time. Wonderful, inviting massage room too. The footbath at the end was heaven -- huge copper bowl with hot water; river rock on the bottom for self-massaging your soles. The best part of the experience, though, is the service. These people know how to treat clients, with care and respect. Can't wait to go back! Pros: Great service Cons: sauna & changing room are small more

Impressed and Looking Forward to the Experience 2/27/2010

I'm looking for a massage therapist and was doing some research today about spas in the Portland area. After doing some extensive research on the spas that were most appealing to me and after reading numerous customer reviews about these spas, I've decided to try DragonTree. Their menu of services, packages, amenities and the atmosphere described is impressive and enticing. Although what really has me sold is the fact that the owner, Briana, takes the time to respond to customer reviews both positive and those that are less than wonderful. It appears that when someone is at all dissatisfied with their experience at the DragonTree she takes a real interest in learning more and doing what she can to remedy the situation. This indicates to me that she values her customers and truly wants their experience to be therapeutic and restorative. Bravo Briana! Though I don't have ton of money to spend on regular spa services, I am looking forward to giving my business to an establishment like DragonTree. Pros: A courteous owner Cons: I'm hopeful there will be none more

It might be a tradition 1/21/2010

I got a great offer through my Border's membership for 20% off SpaFinder gift certificates. We go to Portland every Christmas, so I got reservations at the DragonTree for my mom, sister, daughter, and myself for the day after Christmas. Cool! I saved $60 and we had an incredible couple of hours in their "community" room. Sat on couches and ordered our own pots of tea while we each got hand and foot massages, foot soaks, and head and shoulder massages. I was skeptical of how well the upperbody massages would be, just sitting on a couch, but that girl was incredible! The ambience is dim and soothing. A wonderful after Christmas treat for the "women who make it happen"! more

My favorite place! 1/4/2010

I've been to DragonTree Spa on three occasions and each have been wonderful. I have received services from many different individuals and all have been excellent. Most recently I enjoyed a 60-minute Swedish massage from Chrissy and it was amazing! In December I had a facial, head/neck/shoulder massage and 30-minute Swedish massage and it was the perfect combo. The location is perfect. It is in the city, but away from all the traffic and noise. Parking is always easy to find and it's convenient for me to get to from the Southwest side. I like that the exterior is subtle, yet the inside completely transforms my frame of mind the minute I walk through the door. I've tried a number of other spas in Portland and they were fine, but DragonTree is exactly what I am looking for when I want to relax and take care of my friends, family and self. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Great Service 1/3/2010

I made an appointment here because my sister-in-law recommended it while I was visiting Portland. I was very impressed by the attention to service from making my appointment to checking out. The massage was great. Good deep pressure, not a lot of talk, unobtrusive and relaxing music. I loved the sauna after too. I will make it a regular part of my Portland trips. Highly recommended. Pros: deep massage, saunas, easy to reach Cons: street parking with two hour limits more

beautiful setting...very relaxed atmosphere..but..... 12/17/2009

Pros: location...atmoshpere Cons: treatments were grade C more

Done trying... 8/29/2009

I have tried to go back to Dragon Tree several times in hopes that the next visit would be better. The reason I kept trying, was because I loved the decor and they had a sauna that I could use as well. I have had two massages there and both of them were not worth the money. The first massage was in a very bright room with a hug sky light and the second massage was done by a young man that said he was tired of working on people and was ready to find a new job! Aside from this, both masages did not leave me feeling relaxed. My experience in the sauna was far from relazxing as well because there was a group of extremely loud and rude women. There should be a noise policy enforced. I have also had a shoulder massage there and they give it to you while you are sitting up in a very bright room with other people around you. They should have you in a chair, so that the massage therapists can access your muscles easier and really work into them. Anyway, overall, I have yet to be impressed and will continue my journey to find a place that I truly enjoy... more

amazing place! 8/2/2009

I recently visited the DragonTree for the Shakti package that included a massage and facial. While the facial was not the best (or the worst for that matter), I would completely recommend the massages/foot baths! It was amazing! I had John, who did such a great job and was very friendly and professional. He has the best hands and alternated between many different techniques. I like very deep/hard massages and he exceeded my expectations. For the facial, it just seemed quick, maybe it was just me or maybe it was because I was the last appointment for the night. She was nice, but I did feel like I had a little "lecture" about sunscreen and the types of products I use to wash my face, as if I was at a dermatologist appointment. I will, without a doubt, be back for another massage and many other treatments-the space is amazing and the staff was all very welcoming. Pros: friendly staff, great products, amazing service Cons: none more

An oasis, a peaceful retreat 7/15/2009

After reading these reviews, I decided to check out the Dragontree for myself. Wow... it really went above and beyond my expectations. To start with, what a beautiful interior. Rich, deep colors, Moroccan/zen-like decor, soothing music, lush greenery, not to mention their zen fish pond with a trickling fountain... just so peaceful. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming, and I really liked how they offered for me to come early and use the saunas... perfect way to decompress before your treatment. I received a deep tissue massage by Roxanne-- wow, amazing! Going back to her for sure. Thank you Dragontree, you've definitely made another loyal customer. Pros: atmosphere, unique spa packages Cons: don't accept Amex or Discover... but a lot of places don't! more
