The Dental Center of South Bend Smile Safari

I had my first cavity which occurred because they put a sealant on a molar. I had never been drilled and was scared to death. I did have my wisdom teeth removed there, though, and it went smoothly due to the nitrous oxide. I assumed that this would be available for the drilling. However, when I was in the chair and requested it, the dentist stated that they usually used this on children, not adults. She also stated that she was pregnant and could not be around the nitrous. Why did her medical condition conflict with my dental treatment? This same dentist was also very condescending a year or so before. I had heard that mercury fillings could be replaced with a see-through filling. When I asked about it, she laughed, looked at the dental hygienist, and said there was no way this could be done. I'm pretty good about taking care of my teeth. However, when I went to the Dental Center, they used scare tactics and assumed I was an idiot. At the initial appointment, the doctor recommended that I get my wisdom teeth removed because they *might* get cavities *someday.* The assistant told me that when I came back for my cleaning (because they wouldn't consider a consultation and a cleaning at the same time), she would decide whether I would have to come back for a *supplemental* cleaning. The appointment scheduler was kind enough to explain that my insurance would not cover the so-called "supplemental" cleaning. Scam artists! more

My daughter was so scared to visit the dentist, but we took her to the dental center for children and now she cannot wait to go back. The assistants were super nice to her and the dentist was very gental. They explained everything that was going to happen before hand so her fears were eased. If you have a little one that is dreading the dentist, you must bring them to the dental center as they will definetly want to come back! more
