Best bar in San Antonio. 10/15/2006

Hands down the best bar in San Antonio. A bit smoky at times, but hey it's a REAL bar. Stay away if your looking for some cookie cutter national chain. Here you get great service, the biggest selection I have ever seen, (and I've seen many), and great drinks.\r \r Downstairs is open nights from Wednesday through Saturday. Dance down there if that's your gig. Upstairs stays chill. Nothing else in this town is even close. Pros: Selection - Service - Location - Drinks more

VERY DISAPPOINTED 9/18/2006

Previous reviews rated this a top martini bar, but that is far from it. Sits on a downtown corner, barely the size of an average living room. Upon opening the door we were greeted with the most aweful smoke smell I've ever experienced in a bar or restaurant. It was so strong, it stayed on our clothes despite the brief time that we stood in the doorway. Either their smoke eliminators were broken, or they didn't have any. Smoking doesn't bother me much, but this place did. That being said, the place also looked unkept and dingy, not at all as described in other reviews. We will not return. more

Davenport has it all 5/25/2006

Great place to unwind with friends after work, or to head to for a night on the town. The upstairs offers areas to sit and chill out with friends. Downstairs has a full service bar with a larger area that turns into a dance floor by the end of the night. What I like about this place is that it is definitely not as pretentious as some bars try to be, has a great variety of music and drinks, and I always have a great time here. more

Missing Davenport....... 5/29/2005

I moved to SF, with the thought that the nightlife would be just as good as, even better than SA-WRONG. There is no place like home, and home is where Davenport is. This bar is great. Always had a good time, and the price was always a steal for what you got. The best part about this place is the atmosphere and the staff. Can't wait to see you this summer! Pros: atmosphere, staff, drinks more

Support for D'Port 5/7/2005

This place has been my Wednesday night haunt for well over a year, although I've been patronizing it since it opened. If you don't like to move/dance/flirt, stay upstairs. Otherwise, come shake it with some of the best DJ's in south texas five nights a week. Come for the atmosphere, stay for the drinks and music. more

Lasting impression 8/2/2004

No two visits are exactly alike at this place. The drinks are awesome, the mood is relaxed, the people are incredible. Anytime I get an invite to Davenport, I am definitely game! more

San Antonio's Finest 11/13/2002

Wow! This is a great bar. The biggest selection of liquor in SA. by far. Full of locals who know what a good drink is. Sunday through Tuesday are hospitality nights - great specials on great drinks. A true bartender's bar. Pros: Great Drinks., Great Crowds. Cons: I don't live there. more

The best of San Antonio 6/20/2002

Incredible! My friends and I finally made it to The Davenport last week after hearing the buzz for months. All I can say is, we should not have waited so long. The martinis were fabulous. It will take many trips to sample them all, but I believe we are up to the job. Thank you Shaun for making our party such a success. San Antonio was in desperate need of a bar like this downtown. Hats off to The Davenport, Pros: Great drinks., Great decor., Great service. more

Awesome selection. 6/16/2002

Escaped the hot, crowded riverwalk on advice from our concierge and wandered into The Davenport. Wow! The most single malt scotch I had ever seen at a bar. My wife and friends all found a drink that sounded good and passed them around. Something for everyone. Great place. Pros: Good value., Great decor., Laid back. more

Great place downtown... 6/11/2002

The Davenport was a nice change of pace from the tourist(y) Riverwalk. Great atmosphere and huge Martini selection. Definitely will be going back. Pros: selection, atmosphere more
