Beautiful Building that needs TLC!!! 5/5/2009

I have stayed at the hotel, eaten and had a few drinks at the bar/restaurant. The hotel was nice to stay at because of its history but the rooms... Yes rooms we had to changes rooms TWICE and the third one we ended up staying in wasn't any better. Both rooms smelled and in the first room someone was already in the room. Poor services and definitely over priced for the accommodations they offer. I was born and raised in Culver City and really love this building. I just hope that the owners give it some much-needed TLC!!! Pros: Historical Cons: Food and Hotel accommodations more

got up & left the food was so bad! 7/5/2007

the hotel is fabulous the decor of the hotel is wonderful but i was astonished at how bad the food was, it was INEDIBLE, the tuna melt was absolutely discusting the mac & cheese had no taste & was driping with grease we were there on a thursday night- i was truly stunned by the awful, awful food Pros: everything but the food more

Nice bar 11/24/2006

I haven't stayed at the Culver Hotel yet, but I've been here a great many times for their bar. Duke's is a nice bar, with some good appetizers and a friendly staff. Their bar is tiny but there's lots of seating in the lobby. With many studio employees coming here after work, it gets crowded all the time. more

Good History Here 10/26/2006

This is a nice hotel but pricey. The evening staff wasn't that great but the day staff was nice. Trader Joes and a Movie theather are near by. If your really interested in Sony Studios and Culver Studios you'll be right in the middle of both of them Pros: Right near the stuidos Cons: only 6 parking in front the reast across the street more

Editorial
  • In Short
Opened in 1924 by Harry Culver, the man behind Culver City itself, this six-story brick hotel was considered a skyscraper. Hollywood stars like Clark Gable and Ronald Reagan frequented the later John Wayne-owned property. A "Judy Garland" room, among others, is appointed with photographs and memorabilia from the "Wizard of Oz" in honor of the cast, who stayed there during filming. Antique French furnishings, marble bathrooms and TVs are standard decor.
