Best

The food here is always wonderful, fresh and well priced. The manager is very friendly and makes you feel as if you enetered their kitchen. The service was fantastic - so caring ...

Worst

Over-priced and not what I could call top-notch steak. Outback gives them a run in regards to quality

Best of the Steak Restaurants 2/21/2006

My husband and I dines here for our anniversary and we have been craving it ever since. Blows all of the other steak places out of the water (Ruth's Chris, Shula's, Chop House etc...) Try the Kona Crusted Steak with Carmelized Shallot Butter.....TO DIE FOR!!! Our server was wonderful and receommended a fabulous bottle of wine. Yes, it is a bit pricy, but for special occasions, it can't be beat! more

Classic steakhouse done right 2/15/2006

I live in Detroit and this is the best steakhouse in town (Mortons is my 2nd favorite but this is better). Start with the Stoli Doli (a fresh pineapple martini to die for). Get the calamari with hot peppers and the lobster appetizer which is split down the middle and served with a lemony mayo. The steak is flavorful but like most really good steakhouses you may consider ordering a bit more cooked if you don't like it too rare and all the classic sides are here. Great wine list although a bit pricey. Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Food Cons: Crowded bar, A bit rushed more

Just plain loud 1/13/2006

I'll admit, it has been a while since I have been here. And we only went once. The night we were there it was so loud in there that we were unable to have a conversation among ourselves. The waitress described my salad options, which I couldn't hear and ended up with one with bleu cheese which I detest, so had to send it back. The steaks were nothing to brag about. And the bill was over $100 for two of us with no alcohol. Pros: Valet Parking Cons: Painfully loud, Overpriced more

I live in Detroit and have been to all of the steak places. This place is not cheap, but if you want the best place to eat, this is it. Try the Stolie Dolie, a pineapple martini to die for, and the calamari with hot peppers. more

yum yum yum 5/17/2005

I have visited the Captal Grille on several occasions and have been more than impressed each time. The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful. The best part about the whole place though is the food. The filet being my favorite, it is full of flavor and tender throughout. The sides are delicious (and make sure you share because they are good for about 3 people!), and my favorite of all is the creme brulee. It isn't the thick custard you find elsewhere, it's crave-worthy. Of course there are plenty of other desserts and delicious foods available (the french onion soup crock is huge!) Sure to please anyone looking for a top notch evening. Pros: FOOD!, SERVICE!, ATMOSPHERE! Cons: none more

Great Service 1/20/2005

Thanks to "Big Jon" who advised me not to, "Ever trust a waiter", we had a great time. The variety of wines were amazing. The description of the night's specials couldn't have been more precise. We were intimidated due to our lack of knowledge of the "fine dining scene" but were treated like regulars and had a fantastic evening out. We'll be back to see our friends at The Capital Grille! Thanks again! Pros: Wine, Steaks, Service more

How did this get 2 $$? 8/11/2004

First off, I'd say the Capital Grille was a high value meal--the tab was a bit stiff but well worth it. The atmosphere was clubby and very, very comfortable. Our waiter was knowledgeable and helpful (e.g., "if you like this...you might want to try that...but if you prefer something a little more...then THIS would be a nice choice"). The drinks were excellent; the beef was done perfectly(we all ordered different cuts), and the sides (large enough to share) were just right--the au gratin potatoes were outstanding. I'm a little snobby about eating in malls, but one can enter from the parking lot. Pros: Quality of the beef, Service, Atmosphere more

Here's the Beef (RE: Where's the Beef) 1/15/2004

One would be hardpressed to find a better steakhouse in the US (it probably grosses more than all of the other Capital Grilles combined). When I'm in Detroit (frequently), I never miss an opportunity to eat at "The Grille". Although the rich & famous (or pretend-to-be) hang out at this place, the staff, food & wine list make up for the lengthy wait you will experience in the lounge - strongly recommend reservations. Pros: excellent food, superior service, big wine list Cons: crowded bar, smoky bar more
