Great technician, awful service on the phone 12/16/2010

Avoid if you can. These people are completely awful to deal with on the phone. Every call in my two and a half week simple repair made my anger increase. This company apparently feels like they're doing you a favor by talking with you. They take no responsibility for anything and seem perturbed to be bothered with a call. And they charged me $75 for the initial call to confirm what I already new and simply shrugged when I asked them about it. The technician (the 3rd I saw) finally made the repair and was personally excellent. The manufacturer, Wolf, stood by their product and paid for the part and repair (not the initial fee), even though the product was just outside the warranty period. All of that was great, but dealing with the company was a complete pain. I strongly suggest you find someone else to work with. These guys don't want your business. more

Excellent work and Customer Service 4/22/2010

I had an LG washing machine (4 months old) that dumped about 30 gallons of water out the sides and all over my floor, into my basement, etc. A real mess. I called them on a weekend and amazingly someone answered, not just someone but the owner. He schedule a time for a technician t come out Monday morning. After much searching the problem could not be found however LG even stated they had no idea what would have caused this. The Appliance Man worked with me and LG to ensure I received a new machine. I received numerous phone calls to ensure things were moving along to my satisfaction. This is the third time I have used The Appliance Man (Old washing machine and fridge the other two) and all 3 times I have been 100% satisfied with their technical ability and customer service. For the past 2 years I am growing leary of their professionalism, knowledge and overall concern for customer service. I've had technicians in my home servicing appliances that have either 1) had to call someone to walk them through the service job or 2) just can't seem to diagnose an issue or repair right the first time. There are some good and knowledgeable techs in this outfit but it seems like it may be every other visit I get one. Pros: Some techs seem to know what they are doing Cons: More trouble now than what they are worth more

Rude, inconsiderate owner!!!! 1/20/2010

I received a rude, inconsiderate call from this nasty business!! After coming out and looking at my dryer, the repairman said he needed to go back and check on how to fix it and would return Monday. Nobody came on Monday and also no one called. Very Inconsiderate. I called and left a message and no one called me back until Wednesday!. He was snide and unkind and told me they could not figure out how to repair my dryer and WOULD NOT be returning to my home and then he hung up!! What a SNOT!! Didn't even say sorry we couldn't help you or sorry we ignored you for two days. What a jerk! I would NEVER call them again if they were the last place out there!!! Pros: First man out was pleasant Cons: Would not return to fix my dryer more

Oven Repair 11/27/2009

The Appliance Man is a very professional business. When they could not come on Wednesday, I was called very early to reschedule. My whole day was not wasted. The young man , Andy, was very professional and efficient. I would use The Appliance Man again and urge anyone in the Columbus, Ohio area to give them a try. Excellent Service Every Time 3/31/2009

We've called The Appliance Man at least 5 times in the past 4 years to repair most of our appliances including our washing machine, range, refrigerator, and microwave. Andrew was the technician who performed all our service visits and was polite, professional, and answered all our questions. Every repair was completed either during the first visit or in the time period which he said it would take. Pros: Great service more

Terrible Customer Service and Follow Up 1/29/2007

I do not typically write reviews, but I had such an unpleasant experience with Appliance Man, that I feel compelled to share my story to save others the terrible service. My husband and I had our refrigerator repaired in July by Appliance Man and that alone proved to be an unpleasant experience. The parts came in after 1.5 weeks, about 6 days longer than we were told it would take. Our defrosting mechanism was out on the refrigerator, so needless to say, we had no refrigerator for the 1.5 weeks after the initial service call. About 90 days after the repair, our refrigerator started leaking water all over our kitchen floor, which has caused some floor boards to warp. We thought maybe we hooked something up incorrectly with our water dispenser. Unfortunately, that was not the case, the defroster was never fixed and we had a 3"" thick layer of ice that encased the food at the bottom of the freezer and the water was rolling out of the freezer off of the thick ice. I just called to see about the part being under a 1 year warranty, and the person on the phone agreed and was about to send someone out, when I asked about the service call. He mentioned it would be $73.00 to come out and look at what we already knew was wrong and that he needed to place me on hold. I was thinking he would come back and redeem the company by saying they would waive that, bring the parts and fix the problem since we were under warranty. I was WRONG! Not only is the service charge in place, we would have to pay for new parts, because now it is 90 day warranty on refrigerator parts, and if we didn't need the parts they brought, we would then pay a restocking fee!! I am very disappointed in the customer service of this company and would recommend that anyone looking for an appliance fix stay clear!
