When this hotel came into my small town 4/11/2012

When this hotel came into my small town it seemed like a blessing in the rough time our economy is still going through. When I first went to check out the new beautiful hotel I was very impressed until soon after word spread and I started to realize how unprofessional their management was and continues to act. I understand that it is a very important to look good at all times but when the management treats the employees bad in front of guests it's hard for the employees to keep their upbeat attitudes, yet they seem to do it so well. This is a very good location for a beautiful hotel but until they rethink who they have chosen to fill in Supervising roles it's just going to continue in a downword spiral which will hurt our little town even more.\r \r -anonymous guest more

In total agreement of the comments 3/2/2012

In total agreement of the comments regarding how this company treats their staff. While I have not worked there, I have been a guest in all areas of the property on many occasions and also know several people who have been employed by this company. Yes, it is a gorgeous property, the Austins did right by that. But where it is lacking is in the management. The staff work harder than anyone and are treated as though they are amateurs. On several occasions I have overheard management talking down to staff and belittling them IN FRONT of guests. In my mind, this is completely unprofessional. If you feel your staff is not up to par, which does not describe the staff of this hotel, do not repremand them in front of guests. There are constantly new faces in the staff, which I have been told can be contributed to their high turn over rate. If I was the owner of this property I would strongly consider looking at who I've placed in the upper management positions. Just because someones resume shows they have experience else where doesn't mean they make a good manager. This is small town we're talking about and word travels fast. Word on the street is, don't work for the Allison. more

While the view and accommodations may 2/8/2012

While the view and accommodations may be lovely the management staff needs a serious attitude adjustment. I have waited to write a review until I was no longer mad because I wanted to convey my experience without strong emotions. I know when I go to a place to stay that I want to know not only that I am getting a great experience but so is the staff. Unfortunately being an employee at The Allison is not quite what you expect. Growing up in this town I know that the Austins have donated a lot of time and money to the community. I also know that they treat their employees at A-Dec VERY well. I figured this would be the same for The Allison. Everyday I came to work on time, with a smile on my face, in the appropriate uniform and I NEVER called in sick and yet some how that was not good enough. Plain and simple they harassed me. Every time I made the slightest error an example of an error would be to say I believe or yeah instead of yes on the phone. My manager would come out of her office and tell me every word I said incorrectly. I understand the need for sounding professional but I also know that when I call someone I want them to sound like a real person. Other things that caught my eye. The management team and other employees don't like the town. I will quote ""it's a gorgeous facility why they put it in this shitty little town, I don't know."" I know I am not the only one who has had problems with the management staff and I am not the only one who feels there needs to be a serious revamp of staff. I think the Austins would like to know something of this nature is taking place and I intend to write them a letter stating so. Also to give myself some credibility. I worked for one company before The Allison for 5 years and have never been fired from a job until this one. Think twice before applying for a job here and make sure that your money is being spent at the right hotel. more

Wine Country Gem 9/12/2010

My husband and I planned a last minute getaway to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Every staff member we encountered wished us a Happy Anniversary and they placed a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine on ice in our room upon our arrival. We both enjoyed the spa facilities with prompt, professional and caring service providers as well as attentive staff. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by the bell staff who not only met our needs, but anticipated them as well. The walnut, stone, and water features throughout the building added elegance to an already wonderful experience. more
