Best

On a visit to Portland, I stumbled into this restaurant at 2.10 pm one Wednesday afternoon. The sign said they were closed between 2.30 and 4.30 pm, so I was not sure I would get ...

Worst

Thai Orchid has really great services, but i really think the food is to plain and simple... Not traditional thai food.

the best in service 4/17/2004

I have eaten at most of the thai restaurants on the ""best of"" list, and Thai Orchid has wonderful food and the best service. Try the ""evil jungle prince"" and the salad rolls. Awesome!! Pros: reasonable price, great service Cons: , wine selection more

it's ok 10/8/2003

Thai Orchid has really great services, but i really think the food is to plain and simple... Not traditional thai food. more

not a sweet as an orchid 2/10/2003

The food reminded me of a cheap tasteless frozen dinner. more

Yum! 2/6/2003

Great food, great prices, good service, clean. Have been there many times and would go back again. Pros: clean, reasonable more

For fresh, and tasty food-Thai Orchid 1/7/2003

Thai Orchid consistently delivers delicious Thai Food! They have a varied menu, with many vegetarian options. The service is some of the best I have ever encountered. more

I love it! 1/4/2003

Thai Orchid is the Bomb! It's my favorite thai anywhere. I'm vegetarian, and the tofu is perfect in my opinion. I almost always get the tofu mussaman curry, but I've also tried the green, red, and yellow curry, which are all excellent as well. Even if it's late at night, the food is fresh and perfect (many other restaurants seem to have older food the hours before closing.) more

they could have called it Thai Paradise 12/19/2002

This is a good one. The dishes are fresh, imaginative, and quite tasty. And going along with the norm for all places Thai, a good bargain. My favorite is to pop in for a lunch and have Pad Prik, a basil dish with tofu. One small complaint, though I find this true of most places Thai, you never know what you're going to get in terms of ""spicyness"". I've taken to always asking for mild and usually getting med-hot, but last time thay fooled me and delivered truly mild. Pros: flavorful, moderate cost, easy in/out Cons: inconsistent spicynes more

Thai Orchid = McDonalds 12/3/2002

In my mind I imagine a Thai food chain where some chef-of-the-day is following a laminated-picture recipe to create the days meals. At least that's what it tastes like. Several visits convinced me to go to ANY of the many mom-and-pop Thai places instead. They are ALL better than Thai Orchid. I am not a chain food or success basher, I like some of the chain food places and think success is great if deserved. Take my advice, or at least comparison eat. more

huge portions!! 11/14/2002

I love Thai Orchid! I was somewhat nervous about Thai food, but they made me a beleiver. Although I've thought about trying something different, I can't help but order the pad thai every time I visit- it is just that good. Friends I've eaten with rave about the Evil Jungle Noodles...but they are too spicy for me! If you want leftovers for lunch the next day (and the next..) this is the right place. The 185th location is as awesome as NW PDX. Pros: HUGE portions more

Good food, Typical Service 11/4/2002

I eat at Thai Orchid because the food is great. The only bad part is that I know when it is cold outside and raining...I do not want to sit by the window. I have asked and I STILL get sat by the window. Oh, well...It is humorous now. And the food is worth it...anything with curry is awesome. Pros: The food is the PRO Cons: The window again? more

Best....I think So. 11/4/2002

This is the place for the best Thai Food ever!!! I have never been dissapointed with any meal even when it is something new. The wait staff is helpful in deciding what to order. Pad Thai #81 is the best!! What would I do without this place. They also have great takeout. Every location is awsome. I love the Gresham atmosphere. more

Great prices! Great Food..small location 10/19/2002

Overall I liked it but thought the location was very small. Pros: Inexpensive, Variety Cons: Crowded, Small more

Thai-riffic! 9/24/2002

I have yet to have a less than delicious meal here. Consistently excellent. Of all the many Thai restaurants I've tried in the Portland area, Thai Orchid still rules supreme. more

Biggie_Shorty2525 9/5/2002

is the best thai orchid. there so nice and warm hardted. they do everthing to make me feel at home. Pros: good serves, exelent food, exelent value Cons: none, none, none more

Favorite Food... 8/13/2002

I was raised off Thai food and I have been to Thai Orchid several times for their yellow curry, it has always been pretty good and the price is right! more

The best in town... 7/25/2002

Other Thai restaurants certainly come close, but none has satisfied me more than NW Thai Orchid. The chef at this branch must have a unique magic dust or something -- the other branches just don't compare! The Pad Thai here is unbelieveably good -- simple and always done just the way I like it. Pros: good service, quality dishes, great prices Cons: often crowded more

Ideal Thai 7/23/2002

I enjoy Typhoon from time to time, but those dishes can be too froo frooey and expensive. Thai Orchid is the best for reliably delicious Thai food! more

YUM!!! 6/15/2002

Great Curries with lots of flavor. The Pad Nang with green beans is the best. I especially like that you can order your desired heat, mild, medium, hot, and extra hot. This is some of the best Thai food I have ever had!! more

Consistently great 5/13/2002

One of my favorite lunch spots. Everything I've tried here has been delicious--green curry, pad kee mao, pad prik, pad khing...Fast, friendly service and nice atmosphere, too. Always great for takeout. Pros: spicy food, cheap lunch Cons: no parking more
