this was the biggest waste of time and money. definitely the WORST thai restaurant in san antonio. the food was old and they were out of everything. what i read on the menu was not what i got on my plate. The bill for this terrible experience was much higher than they ought to be charging. i felt like doing a dine and dash it was so bad. i cant believe they actually charged us so much for such nasty thai food. i should have gone with my instinct and left the second we got our drinks. ThIs place was so bad that I actually created an account to let people know how horrible this place was. When I ordered what san antonio express news claimed one of the top 10 thai dishes in san antonio I was really disappointed. For one they didn't have the main sauce that was supposed to go on the dish, and it was extremely overpriced for what I got. It tasted like ramen mixed with lots of lime and dirty feet. After reading the first persons review I can't help but think that it was written by the owner of the restaurant. I should have known to stay away from this place when i noticed the parking lot was empty. Had a read the reviews before hand it could have prevented me from wasting $36.00 on trying the worst thai food in san antonio. I honestly don't know how this place is still in business. You don't often find delivery options that offer quite as exquisite a menu as Thao Lao. Their service is impeccable, the delivery time lightning quick, and their food is just heavenly. I would definitely recommend the Nem Tahdear. But their curry dishes are also to die for, and their sushi is delicious. Dirty soy saucer, dusty condiments, dinghy cups, old ingredients, tiny size scoop of white rice. Even the service was slow. We were the only ones there! Just bad. Something just isn't right there. Is it a front for another business in the back? Just odd. They sure seem like they don't really care if they go under or not. How much is the rent across from North Star Mall? They can't be paying it with the guest checks. Pros: Empty parking lot, so the parking is good. Cons: Food isn't good, so the parking lot's empty. more

I gave this place a few shots. My brother SWORE by it and when they first opened they did actually have good sized portions now they're really poor. Last time i tried to just pick up and order ( because i didn't want to sit around this uncomfortable place alone ) they completely messed it up, I asked where the sushi i ordered was and all the waiter had to say was, ""Yes, we have sushi..."" not even understanding that i had ordered it, and they didn't roll it. I don't understand how they're still in business, because nobody is ever there. Prices are high, not due to fine cuisine by any means. i could go on and on... BIG disappointment! I thought that because it looked nice and it was across from North Star Mall that it would be good. It even sounds expensive and classy. Well, the prices were expensive but the place looked shabby inside. I should have known by the taste of the nasty city water they brought us that it was going to be a bad experience. I literally cringed when I took a drink of that water. I cannot imagine what was in it! Then we waited 25 minutes for our LUNCH which was $10.95 a plate. Then looking at the servings I thought they accidently brought us something from the childrens' menu! For that price a plate there would normally be something to pack up and take home. Then if I hadn't had enough disappointments by now, when I took a bite of the food I had waited so long for it was COLD!!!! We made them take it all back and didn't pay a dime! Will NEVER go back. I can't wait to go to the new restaurant that ends up in its place because Thai Lao will NOT last!!!! GROSS!!!!! I wish I would have read the other two reviews before wasting 25 mins. of my time! insects in the napkins...disease...dont do it. I sat down for lunch with my friend today 10/06/07... and there was a german insect in my napkin when I opened it. I screamed and ran out of the restaurant as fast as I could.Its awful. Dont go there. Tell everyone, Dont end up sick... Cons: dont get sick becasue you ate here. more

After searching high and low for a Halloween mask for an amazing womans daughter we decided to stop here since it was next to a Halloween store to grab a bite to eat. Seemed nice at first but that all changed when a napkin was unrolled and we were greeted by a german c0ckroach that had made itself a home in it. Needless to say we left and will not be returning.
