I am so disappointed that I have to do this, but I must give a poor review to Thai Chili in Rocklin. I am a regular there - like am there at least once a week, usually twice. I recommend going there for meetings and regularly rave about their food but lately, things have changed and today was the straw that broke the camel's back. The service is slow - has been for a while. Today, for lunch we arrived at 11:30, hoping to beat the rush. I ordered salad and a curry, both vegetarian, no fish sauce, extra veggies, Thai spicy - my typical order. My co-diners ordered similarly. There's one waitress and not only was she late, but this is a serious understaffing issue - it's lunch time for crying out loud. So, food is coming out of the kitchen s-l-o-w-l-y - it took 1 1/2 hours for us to get our lunch on the table - seriously. THEN, while eating my lunch I find a piece of CHICKEN. I'm vegetarian. I go through great pains to order everything with no meat, no fish sauce, lots of veggies. Well, my co-diner's dish came out a little before mine with no meat, extra veggies, no fish sauce, but she had ordered it with CHICKEN. So, obviously what happened here is that they messed up and made mine with chicken and hers vegetarian. When I pointed out the chicken I had picked out of my lunch to the waitress, she says, and I am quoting here ""I hate that cook, she's so stupid. I'm sorry."" She takes the plate with the offending chicken on it back to the kitchen. A few minutes passes and I hear nothing, so I go to the counter where our waitress is standing and ask if they are making me a new batch, to which the young waitress gets an attitude, and tells me ""I told them to pick out all of the chicken. What else am I supposed to do?"" She then pokes her head in to the kitchen and tells someone back there that ""she wants a new batch of curry."" The funny (being sarcastic here) and the COMPLETELY unacceptable thing is that they believe that picking the chicken out of a dish somehow makes it vegetarian?!?!? I explain to her that picking out the chicken does not make a dish vegetarian to which she said ""what do you want me to do about it? I guess that is the way she cooks. If that is not ok, I guess you'll have to take it up with her."" Huh. THIS is how they treat a customer who spends at least $40 a week there and is easily responsibly for double that being spent there through her co-diners and whatnot? Really??? What if this was an ingredient I was allergic to? Instead of being offended, I could be dead or at the very least, very ill. Is this really how much they don't care about their customers? So, bottom-line, the food is good, but the service is horrible and I shudder to think what goes on in that kitchen given how low their standards clearly are. If you want good Thai food, I highly recommend Bangkok City Thai on Rocklin Road in Rocklin, near Sierra College. The food is fantastic and so is the service.
