Tip included in the check? 7/9/2009

I went to this place with my father two weeks ago. He came to visit from Italy so we were speaking italian. The food we ordered was ok, my dad had a carpaccio (good though too cold) and I had a prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich (ok..). The place was kind of overpriced, and definetely not worthy the money. The waiter brought the check to us. My dad was about to pay, when I decided to take a look at the check and I saw that the waiter included the tip in the check... I got really upset so I asked some explanations. They told me that the sistem charges the tip automatically...! I was upset not just because they added the tip arbitrarily because they tought we were tourists but also because I figured that if I did not take a look at the check we would have left the tip twice! I asked to talk to the manager and of course he wasn't there... Bad experience. Pros: Decent food Cons: Pricey, Bad service more

TERRABLE! 2/3/2009

I passed by as I was looking for a decent lunch on the upper east side that I could bring back to the office. Sadly there arent many choices, so I gave into Terramare. The place reeks of attitude and has one of the most expensive menus I have ever seen for lunch. The food just doesnt match its prices. I would give in if the cuisine was amazing, but the food is dissapointing and the prices make it impossible for me to reccomened this place even as a last minute option. Pros: Has seating Cons: Food and Prices dont make sense more

Terrible place 1/21/2007

Way way way too expensive ($15-$18 per sandwich), and not that tasty either. Was hoping for a nice place to grab a coffee, but paid $4.95 for a latte. Add the fact that everyone in the restaurant was botoxed, and I'll pass on this place forever again. more
