Excellent Magaritas (they use real lemon juice!) and fantastic food! 9/30/2007

I've been a number of times with various groups of friends - we always have a wonderful time. The Mariachi band that plays in the evenings makes it feel even more authentic. The choices for margaritas is plentiful, and the food is really delicious. They even make guacamole tableside to your liking! They are currently (Sept '07) undergoing renovations and expansion, but they are still open! Pros: Guacamole made tableside more

Enthusiastic Mariachi Band 8/21/2007

My boyfriend & I have visited this restaurant twice--once on a Sunday afternoon, once on a Friday night. The first visit, the food seemed pretty delicious & the margaritas strong. Two in the afternoon & I was ready to call it a day! The restaurant was fairly busy w/ a big Mexican crowd, indicating its authentic cuisine. I was a bit surprised by the $70 tab for a Sunday lunch for two unfortunately. :( The second visit, the restaurant was pretty packed. The mariachi band was loud & attentive to the patrons. They were pretty enjoyable (as long as they didn't come to our table!!!) ;) The food & drink were out quickly once we ordered, but the mystery meat-quality of my meal was a turn off & the margaritas, while strong, were strong w/ REALLY cheap tequila. Originally, I liked their margaritas, but sometimes more tequila isn't better when it's bad tequila. After a similar costing tab, my boyfriend & I agreed that cost-wise we'll probably go elsewhere from now on. If it were in a different price point, we'd be willing to frequent this restaurant again, but I think it might be time to find a new Mexican restaurant. Beans, rice, tortillas,...(Mexican ingredients) that their dishes consist of aren't as pricey as their menu prices suggest. I LOVE Mexican food b/c it's cheap & inxpensive. For the location, this place has ritzier xpectations of itself than it really delivers. Even tho' we didn't use the service, I was impressed that they offer valet parking svc. Pros: Valet Parking, Strong Margaritas Cons: House Margaritas Ridden w/ Cheap Tequila, Over-Priced Fare more

Lively Saturday Night 10/15/2006

Went on a double date at Tequila Sunrise II on Saturday night. The place was surprisingly packed for 11pm! We waited around 20 minutes at the bar while we marveled at the large (mostly Mexican, which is a good sign) crowd. There was a blaring mariachi band (which they charged each patron $2 for) that kept the place lively. Once we were sat, the service was lightning speed. The prices were a little higher than we expected for the neighborhood, but we weren't disappointed with the food or the atmosphere. It was exactly what we were looking for. We had a good time, and I recommend the restaurant to others. Pros: Authentic Mexican Atmosphere, Service, Food Cons: Location, Price more

Good Food/Good Atmosphere 3/6/2005

Unlike the rating before this one, I had a great time here. The waitstaff was very attentive and the food was great. It is a bit pricey for mexican and the location of this reataurant but it was still worth it. The margaritas were great, although again, very pricey($8!!!!). Atmosphere is good, big tables and not too loud music in the background. I will be back. Pros: margaritas, atmosphere, wait staff Cons: Pricey more

You could do better 5/4/2003

""Tequila Sunrise II"" is overpriced. I usually pay about $9.95 for a chicken chimichanga with rice and beans, but at Tequila Sunrise it costs about $13.95. I don't mind paying $$$ for a good meal, but Tequila Sunrise has no right to charge what they do! For example, I ordered the mixed grilled seafood platter which costs about $29.00 - it comes with Lobster, scallops and shrimp - the lobster tail was microscopic and the food was tasteless. It bordered on bad. Not even the rice and beans was good. I ate it because I was hungry and felt cheated to pay $$$ for food that wasn't worth it. Even the steamed vegetables seemed like they were from a bag of frozen vegetables. In conclusion, the money spent eating at ""Tequila Sunrise II"" would be better spent at a restaurant that knows quality and is really worth the $$$. Pros: mariachi band, ambiance Cons: overpriced, the food is not great, food of bad quality more
