What great food at the Tenth Street Cafe!! 11/22/2009

We stopped for gas at the Chevron in San Miguel just north of Paso Robles about lunch time and decided to stop in at the Basque cafe across the street. What a treat. Chef Dallas and his wife have a wonderful place. We ordered three tapas selections: lamb with merlot sauce, tomato soup, and bread with tapenada. All are prepared onsite and were absolutely delicious. We had bread pudding for dessert. It's made from their day old bread and was the best bread pudding I have had in a restaurant. My wife, Janice, just said that you can go years without finding such a great restaurant. Pros: Outstanding selection and quality of food more

Tapas, like we ate in Spain 8/2/2009

What a surprise to find Tapas in the sleepy Mission town of San Miguel. Driving north to San Francisco, we need gas on a Thursday night. We needed to fill our gas tank along with our stomachs. Thanks God for the 10th street cafe. We had a great time and food with chef Dallas. Pros: The best Tapas since we drove around Spain 2007 more

Great place but call ahead--limited seating 10/24/2006

A great place to share a truly authentic Basque meal with family and friends especially if you are hungry. If you don't have family and friends, by the time dinner is over, you will have acquired them. The unique appetizers, salads, soups and entrees just keep on coming. The owner's name is Dallas and he and the staff were very attentive. The restaurant is rustic, cozy and at times wonderfully noisy with the buzz that arrives with each new dish. There is a diverse local wine list or bring a bottle to share. Seating is limited so be sure to call ahead for a reservation and know ahead of time you will be seated with other parties. Some fellow diners were dressed up while others were more casual. Reasonably priced. Try the sangria and to avoid embarrassment, you might want to practice with a boda bag before you arrive. Pros: Bring a bottle of wine then buy a bottle as well to avoid the corkage. Cons: Can get a little tight on the seating more
