It's basically a mom and pop's hole in the wall, but the food is sooo good. It's kind of a cross between Shanghainese and Taiwanese food. It's never really crowded which surprises me but it's probably because it's right across the street from Joe's Shanghai which has millions of people outside waiting for tables. You must have the ""Three Cups Chicken"". It's chicken cooked in a crockpot with one cup water, one cup wine and one cup soy sauce. They bring it out in a sizzling chinese ceramic crockpot. So yummy!! The fish with spicy bean sauce is also awesome (don't expect the Szechuan orangy sauce, this restaurant makes it's own very original sauce). Shredded pork with tofu is also one of my favorites. Almost all of the dishes are excellent and it's super cheap. Great lunch specials too (their menu says monday - friday only) but if you ask, they will give it to you on the weekends. The service is ok unless they are actually crowded. Then they get a bit frazzled. So the next time you find yourself waiting outside of Joe's Shanghai, give them a shot. You won't regret it!
Pros: Never really crowded, food is good and cheap
Cons: Service can be slow if they get crowded
