Nice lunch on the patio 9/29/2009

Been meaning to try this place for awhile and used a Restaurants. com gift certificate. Had a nice quite lunch on the patio... tried the paella, champiniones and queso fundido. Looking forward to going back for sangria next time. Pros: Authentic food more

RUDE! 12/5/2008

I tried to go here because I kept hearing great things and I'm a huge fan of tapas. When I got there I found everyone that I spoke to when I walked through the door to be horrible rude! They have a mentality that they don't need your business and are after nickel and diming you. Personally, I'm not going to PAY someone to make me feel bad. What a joke. more

Great Atmosphere to go out with friends!!! 11/24/2008

My friends and I have heard about Tapas and wanted to try it out for ourselves. We had a great time! The food was delicious. I loved the Tapas, Sangria, Paella and especially the Pasta Sevillana. The great part was the live flamenco show! Yes you may have to pay the sit down fee but who cares your getting a great show and it stirs up the restaurant as all the patrons are involved even when they grab an unexpected person from the audience to join them. All in all my group and I had a great time the staff was friendly and very attentive to us. You can read all the reviews for yourself but don't judge it until you try it out for yourself. Pros: Did I mention the Sangria!! Wonderful outgoing atmosphere more

Great Food and Entertainment. 11/21/2008

Best Tapas in Newport Beach. Great Authentic Food from Spain and Festive Latin Entertainment. more

Music is great, just needs more advertisement! (not commenting the food-never had it) 3/20/2008

I found this place online and visited 3 times from San Diego. The music is so good!! DJ has great variety of latin music, even threw in some hip hop and old skool. The place has plenty of room/potential to be something more than it is. It seems as if the place isn't advertised as it should be, since it has so much room available. Could use more people to attend the place and make it a happening place. Never tried the food, so only commenting on the night life venue. over all, because of the music, def. going back! more

Fun and great on weekends especially. 2/13/2008

I went dancing here one random night and had a great time. There is a huge dance floor with DJs who play pretty good music. I went here another night with a friend, and we got two tapas and some drinks. The food was really good, great if you're not starving, since the plates are tapas and therefore very small. The bar is great, awesome drinks, very nice people. I'd say this is a place more for younger, college age people. Pros: Service, Food, Drinks, Entertainment more

Absolute CLOWN DOWN.. 1/18/2008

I never even got in the door because they attempted to charge me 6.00 each person to go and eat dinner. What kind of restaurant has a cover charge to eat food? After look at the reviews I noticed a lot of people with negative reviews especially regarding the service. The door people, 2 guys were incredibly rude. When I questioned the 6.00 cover charge to eat dinner they told me it is not chuckee cheese. The joke of it is I go out to breakfast and lunch and dinner EVERY day. I have never once ate food at home in years. I go to ONE star joints to 5 star establishments and I'm not afraid to spend 150.00 per person. In addition i could care less about tue actual $6.00. However, I do find it odd to charge you a cover to go and buy dinner?? The point IS the remarks and attitudes the door-men gave my friend and I. I want to mention I was dressed in very nice clothing and look professional. So I know it could not be them profiling for the ideal clientele. Will never go back. The management needs to realize the first impression of a place is at the host or front door. If the hosts are arrogant + rude how much better could the rest be?? TOTAL CLOWN DOWN 9000. Pros: They have somewhat of a good repuatation. I find it amazing. Cons: Cover charge to eat dinner. Rude Host's / Bouncers more

Probably best when you're drunk... 2/3/2007

""I can understand some of the not so favorable reviews in here because it's Southern California. People would rather dine at a ""Disneyland"" restaurant rather then eating at a place with character and authentic food."" Cons: bland food, rude service, ruins tapas for everyone more

Party Espana style 9/29/2006

I went with a group of friends on a Friday, and after spending about three hours at the place, I think it was one of the best experiences I've had. It started with a dinner flamenco show, with great paella's and a mix of tapas. The food was excellent and the show was very good. It was one of my friends B-day, so they took her, and made her part of the show. After the show, they started Salsa lessons, followed by club dancing. The place was just packed and full of energy. Pros: Plenty of parking, they seat you right away, Sangria!!!!!! Cons: Place is really busy. more

New experience 7/30/2006

I went to this place for the first time a little over a year ago, I didn't find it ""dirty"" or ""gross"" as some people said in their reviews. I found the small plate experience new and unique. Ordered just an appetizer for myself while my 3 companions ordered what I suppose would be called entrees. I sampled some of theirs and thought it tasted quite good. I think we also had bread so its not like we were completely starving while waiting for our food. The atmosphere was nice and the dining room filled up near capacity to watch the show while having their dinner. We didn't even know about the flamenco dancing and saw about 5 mins of it while we waited for our check. Turns out they tacked on about $3 a person for the show even though we left during the beginning. Wouldn't have minded so much, but the food prices were on the upper bounds of moderate, causing our total bill to push near triple digits (with only soft drinks). I recommend going to the bar if you're only there for the show - no sitting fee and you'll still have a view. For dining room I recommend a reservation if you're going during a show. Pros: Food (taste and variety), atmosphere Cons: Price, portions more

Sub-par food, forgettable experience!!! 7/14/2006

I was so excited to check out a new tapas place and I left greatly disappointed. Did not taste like authentic Spanish tapas to me!!! The place looks rundown and dirty and the food wasn't much better. DON'T get the crab croquettes- yuck. Poor ambience, food and experience! Pros: Tasty Sangrias Cons: Food, ambience and service more

Authentic Tapas 6/3/2006

I can understand some of the not so favorable reviews in here because it's Southern California. People would rather dine at a ""Disneyland"" restaurant rather then eating at a place with character and authentic food. Yes, the place could use a bit of cleaning, but the food is spot on. Pros: Tapas, Spanish Wine Cons: Dirty Banos more

I got sick 11/7/2005

Don't go here! The food is awful and the owner is a jerk. more

Nothing to do with Spain and Tapas! 10/16/2005

After reading favorable comments on Citisearch, we decided to dine at TapasBar&Grill last night. We're EXTREMELY disappointed! A ridiculous restaurant: the food has NOTHING TO DO with real Tapas. Wow, a Citisearch rating 8.6 out of 10! It is not the first time we trusted Citisearch reviews, and it ended up being a big lie. Perhaps a restaurant employee subscribed & wrote a favorable review. The place is stinky, raunchy, heavy 80s colors; dirty dusty draperies were hanging everywhere. Table cloth was full of crums & stains from previous party. Bread with peppered mayonaise was initial 'appetizer'. The food tasted like frozen, microwaved, directly from Vons freezer. Heavy greasy sauces covered most item. Terrible! We ended up paying 52 dollars for 2, and couldn't eat anything. Spainish dancers left at 9PM, and the flamenco music was replaced with disco. Overall, the worst place we ever visited. Pros: None! Cons: Greazy bad food, Dirty venue, NOT authentic at all more

you won't see me there any time soon 2/8/2003

service was slow, forgot half our order, and practically had to wave a flag to get their attention. paella was good but other ""authentic spanish"" dishes tasted more like mexican food. chairs are stiff as boards. live flamenco show was great and so was the live music. Pros: live entertainment, ambience Cons: poor service, uncomfortable seats, food is hit or miss more
