Tamarack Kennels

I have been taking my dogs here for at least 10 years. I have never seen the facility dirty and my dogs always come back immaculate. I don't know where Hannah usually boards her dogs, but it would have to practically be a motel to be a nicer facility. They have large kennels with attached, individual outdoor runs. Prior to Tamarack, I must have tried 10 other kennels in the area and none of them were as nice. A couple of them even refused to allow me back to where the dogs were kept. I HIGHLY recommend this kennel. more

I know where I took my dog. It WAS Tamarack on 7 mile in Livonia. I gave my honest review, I don't know the couple who own Tamarack I was not trying to smear them. I am a business owner myself & would never try to hurt anyone with a false review. I find it curious that all of the 5 star reviews were written within a few days of each other. Again, just an observation here, but it does seem odd. Its possible the owner was having a bad day, maybe the heat was not working that day, maybe some people don't mind their dogs being boarded in those conditions. I use Tamarack at various times throughout the year, and have for the past 5 years. The owners are dog lovers and breeders, and I have always found them to be friendly and personable. I have two chocolate labs who typically share a larger kennel (about 10'x10'), but the average ""smaller"" kennel is still 4'x6' and more than adequate for large dogs. When my dogs have needed medication it has been given, and I do not need to worry about their care when I am away. The kennel, though not ""fancy,"" is clean and always kept at a comfortable temperature. Current shots are required, which also gives me piece of mind. I would recommend Tamarack Kennels without reservation. Pros: Clean, comfortable, good care, affordable. Cons: Not open for pickup on Sundays. more

We have been taking our dog here for 8 years. The kennel is clean and large, with floor to ceiling space and outdoor space. Our dog visits several times a year and on occasion, up to 2 weeks. The owners take good care of her. She always comes home happy and healthy. Compared to other options in the area, the price charged is very reasonable. more

My wife and I have been taking our dog to Tamarack for nearly 10 years now. They take exceptional care of him, and he is genuinely excited to go and spend time with them. The kennel is neat and clean both inside and out. It is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. When my wife went into labor with our second child, they took our dog at a moment?s notice, so I could go to the hospital knowing he was in good hands. I cannot imagine taking our dog anywhere else. I am not sure where Hannah went, but it was definitely not Tamarack. She should be ashamed of smearing such a fine couple and fine business as Tamarack. Pros: Friendly, courteous, clean more

If you love your dog this is the place to board them. I had a great experience with Tamarack Kennels. The owners live right on the property where the dogs are boarded and it is a nice warm area where the dogs are housed. I don't know who wrote that previous review and I almost didn't take my dog to Tamarack, but after talking with the owner she assured me that their kennel was very dog friendly. When I dropped off my dog I could see that he was going to be well taken care of. When I returned he was very glad to see me and I could see that he was loved by Tamarack Kennels. more

My husband and I made an appt. to board our dog for a couple of days. When we got there the guy was not friendly at all and he immediatly put our dog in a muzzle type collar without asking us first. He took us to the bak yard of his house where he had a small ""building"" that housed the dogs. All of the dogs were in small kennels and it was freezing cold in this place. The dogs seemed starved for attention and they all looked miserable. My husband told the guy nevermind and we took our dog and left. I would not ever recommend this place to someone who loves their pet. It was cold, depressing, filthy and the building seemed to be falling down. Cons: just don't go there more
