Taco Cabana isn't that great anymore. It used to the place to go after a night of partying, but they've gotten so slow and sloppy. Now my friends and I go to Chacho's or Las Palap...

All Taco Cabana's in SA 7/6/2011

Taco Cabana use to be the place to go in the yearly 90's, but not anymore. I have tried various location within the past 5 years, and all of their stores have gone down hill in their food quality and safety! The fajitas are over cooked and dry, chicken undercooked at some locations, food is served cold, and miscellaneous (non food) items found inside of the food. For the safety of my family and myself, I no longer eat their food! more

Crapiest of the Taco Cabannas I have been to 2/12/2011

(Not sure on the post below about it being shut down, cause the place is up and running, may of been temporarily closed till they fixed it, but im sure they need to be checked again) I would rate 3 negative stars if it were up to me. For those who dont know what it is=Its beans out of a can, and packaged food that most basic 'fast foods' deliver, but I wouldnt so much knock 'taco cabana' entirely just because of this one. There are two closer to where I live that are good enough to expectations of drive through but this one just disgusted me. -Im just talking on the food level, that itself didnt even make me want to think of going inside after the 2nd time i ordered through the drive-thru. -I work not far from this one, and one night decided to order there cheese enchiladas dinner plate. They were horrible, and my job was less then 2 minutes away, and when i got to work it all was cold (the rice, beans, and enchiladas). Also there were non-cooked piece of onion in it, which I could never remember being in the dish from the other taco cabanas i have order from before. I do my best not to give a negative report on a place just cause I went there once, I'll at least give it a second try. So I did, and guess what. Cold and un-cooked onions. -I would call it in, but I pull a 12 hour shift and by the time i get off im not interested in each fast foot, i just wont to go home and lay down, and I wouldnt want to chance another disgusting plate of cold food for free. P.S: and just to make sure I went to the one by my house before I took off to work, and ordered the same plate, takes me about 20 minutes to get to my job, and guess what, the enchiladas, beans, and rice were still piping hot from the taco cabana by my house and tasted great. THERE are extreme issues with the one on San Pedro, id have to say if you think to stop there, DONT, go somewhere else, I highly dispies Mc Donalds but sadly id be willing to order there if there was no other choice between them and that taco cabana. more

WARNING: This Placed was Shut Down by the City as UNCLEAN 8/20/2006

These are comments about a famous San Antonio institution I never thought I woulod ever have to write, but they are sadly all to true. The City of San Antonio shut them down for having EXTREME UNCLEAN Kitchen (CitySearch won't permit the real words referring directly to lots of four legged crawlers). This was a rare step they took and most likely this speaks to just how bad the problem was/is. I'm sure they will point the finger at the teenagers they employ at minimum wages and promptly make scapegoats of them. This is a huge problem and speaks directly to the executive management and ownership of what can now only be regarded as a filthy, unfit for human consumption chain. Shame on every corporate manager they have for either allowing it or being so incredably ignorant. I will not eat there again and I highly recommend that you do not either. Pros: Shut down by the City, right then and there, what else do you want to know? Cons: Four legged crawlers and their eggs were found all over the food more

Good Food To Go. 4/8/2004

Fast food Mexican that is tasty and much more authentic then taco bell. Great food at great prices and they have drive thru!!! Pros: Tasty, Inexpensive more

Good Quick Mexican Food 1/21/2004

The Taco Cabano located on Bandera & Guilbeau Rds. is the best around. I've been to other locations around San Antonio but this one is the best by far. The staff is very friendly, the portions are plentiful and the price is phenominal My husband and I can both eat for $6.65 and we are both stuffed. Pros: taste of the food, inexpensive, attitude Cons: crowded more

It's not that great... 2/10/2003

Taco Cabana isn't that great anymore. It used to the place to go after a night of partying, but they've gotten so slow and sloppy. Now my friends and I go to Chacho's or Las Palapas. Pros: inexpensive Cons: crowded, sloppy, inefficient more

Best Pollo in town 2/7/2003

I dont know about their enchiladas or other entrees, but they have the best Chicken Fajitas I have ever tasted ANYWHERE. Their beef fajitas are good but I have had better, good salsa and good tortillas. The ambiance is low because they can get too loud at times...Good Cheap Chicken Fajitas. Drive Thru can take two minutes or twenty minutes so I usually go inside for take out. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Drive-Thru more

Are you kidding? 1/29/2003

Taco Cabana USED to be good, before it was sold. Anyone who votes this eatery as good, hasn't eaten real Mexican food, or even good food for that matter. Pros: excellent salsa Cons: horrible beef tacos more

Most Unimproved Ever 1/9/2003

Went to TC last night, 010903, and was served just what I expected. The day old beef fajitas were served with that nice rainbow meat tint TC is famous for. There I sat on Broadway at Mistletoe hoping just one more try would make eating at Taco Cabana an enjoyable experience (as it was in the 80's), but nope. Same old food. Old being the operative word. Frank Pros: good parking, close to my home, no waiting Cons: tough old meat, transients @ front dr more

patio 10/18/2002

Fresh, Fast, and fun - all day and all night. more

Totally Taco Cabana 10/17/2002

I've enjoyed TC's (as locals sometimes refer to it as...) for a long time. In high school and college we were able to get a bean and cheese for $.69. Prices may have gone up, but they're still cheaper than the other guy -- and it's GOOD Mexican food! more

Not exactly cheap 10/3/2002

The food is pretty good, but it's fast food. One can do just as well at a TexMex restaurant. Cons: Lines are too long more

Relax its just tex-mex 10/3/2002

AWESOME ENCHILADA 10/3/2002

Fast Mexican food could not be better. I grew up in San Antonio and just recently moved to Utah. Boy, what a downer. No Taco Cabanas here. Everytime I go back I eat there for the best enchiladas I have ever tasted. Pros: Fast, Friendly, Tasty more

WOW! 8/30/2002

We were in San Antonio for my son's Air Force basic training graduation and were just blown away by the food at Taco Cabana. My former spouse is hispanic and from a long line of very excellent cooks. I am a good cook and pay attention to ingredients. Taco Cabana is NOT an elegant, expensive eatery but it is an excellent, inexpensive fast food establishment and I am getting SO HUNGRY just thinking about it. more

Like Home 8/27/2002

The food is good, filling and not expensive it also could be listed in the comfy food catagory. Good stuff! more

a San Antonio staple 8/13/2002

Where else can you get breakfast for $2.13? (two breakfast tacos of your choice). The recent addition of the chicken flautas gives us looking for a tasty, inexpensive lunch or dinner another great option to go along with the fajitas and enchiladas. You can dine on the patio and still make it back to work within the hour! Pros: inexpensive, variety, veggie choices Cons: cleaner bathrooms! more

Muy Bueno 8/8/2002

An excellent choice for good, quick and cheap Mexican food. It is as fast food place that serves food as good as any Mexican restaurant. All cooked to order. This is no Taco Bell. Pros: Good Food, Inexpensive more

Great Variety in Mexican Food 7/25/2002

Taco Cabana has gone through many changes, but I am pleased to see the large variety of offering they currently have. The addition of chicken flautas at a reasonable price was a pleasant surprise! I also like the individual Margarita pies they had recently. The borracho beans, in my opinion, are the best you can get in S.A. - absolutely the best! It's still a great place for families, and if you're out late you can swing by the drive through for a late night snack. Still a great S.A. tradition!!!!!!!! Pros: Convenient locations, Great hours, GREAT FOOD more
