We have been coming to this restaurant for years and it is my favorite restaurant in the area. The food has always been great and we are always pleased with the service. Since we go out to eat more than most, we have tried many restaurants. We went out to eat tonight with friends and they have always enjoyed this restaurant too. I would highly recommended this restaurant to anyone that wants good service and great food. Pros: Everything more

Some people are purposely giving a bad review to this restaurant, because they own one right down the road. It's a horrible way to drum up business, if you ask me. The food at Sze-Chaun is amazing, and unless they suddenly went downhill after July, 15th 2008, I'm pretty sure the quality is always going to be there. I recommend going here, and going often! \r \r The dish I would get would have to be General Tso's, extra spicy. Pair that with some fried rice? Forget about it, your day is over. Last time I was in, the girl at the front counter was VERY rude and NO patience. She made me feel like I was wasting my time trying to spend my hard earned money there. As I looked around, the restaurant itself was very dirty, and did not look like it was maintained very well. I left and took my business elsewhere, to the Hunan Empire, and the people there were VERY friendly, and welcoming. They also have DELICIOUS food, and great pricing. The quality of food was extremely greasy and unacceptable. There was poor service, and a rude staff. I did not feel like a customer, more like a hassle for them to deal with. My family and friends from Ann Arbor, Mi have been eating at this restaurant since 1985...we are\r considered "" foodies."" and we love, love, love the food at Sze-Chuan. Upon arriving from Florida in late April, we make a bee-line for this authentic Sze-Chuan Restaurant .We have been known to go there directly from the airport. We are in withdrawal for this incredible food !!! The staff, including the owners are as excited to see us as we are to be there. Always, warm smiles and hugs. It is like coming\r home. Having managed a Medical Practice for forty years, I understand the love, time and effort the owners put into this restaurant and I am so appreciative. The delicious food and genuine warmth of this restaurant\r is unsurpassed. Thank you for being there for all of us who have loved your food for all these years !!! I had to laugh when someone put the Generals was better at Hunan Empire. You havent eaten good till you eat at Szechuan. I always get the same thing, the killer Generals or the Mongs Beef. I dont know too how they get the crab ragoons to taste so good too. I am not a fan of sea food but the ragoons taste like cream cheese and they are my desert when i am all done with my meal. They have the best fortune cookies too, they are the golden dragon kind. When I die I am requesting in my will that every one gets Szechuan on me after my ceremony, if i believed in the after life i would be smiling down from heaven saying ""thats a good final meal"". \r \r No matter where I have moved, I always drive the distance to get a quality meal. \r \r (please serve lunch combos on the weekend) Pros: lunch specials, this place has windows, Cons: no lunch special on the weekend. more

After having been restaurant customers for many years, in 1997 we moved from the Canton area 50 miles west to Jackson. There a lot of restaurants between Jackson and Canton, especially in Ann Arbor, and you would think that finding something similar closer to home would be no problem. Boy, were we wrong! We still drive 100 miles round trip every week for lunch at the Canton Sze-Chuan. Why? Chinese restaurants serving buffet lunches with maybe a slightly spicy dish or two are a dime a dozen. If you want a truly authentic szechuan dish cooked to order, the search just became much more difficult. We eat a lot of very spicy hot ethnic food and when you challenge the kitchen to deliver the full character of their most potent spicy dishes, there is no problem telling the pretenders from those able to offer the real deal and Sze-Chuan Canton is the real deal! Although our schedules do not allow us to enjoy dinners there, their lunch offerings are definitley the best combination of excellent food, generous portions and very reasonable prices. I prefer the Ta-Chien chicken, my wife's choices are a little more subject to impulse. The hot and sour soup is the best we have ever had. The atmosphere, waitstaff and the food have never been less than excellent. If we are willing to drive 100 miles round trip, especially with current gas prices, you know it must be worth it. I've been coming here with my family for at least 25 years...the food is excellent. It has a very distinctive and powerful flavor. I am Chinese, so I am really picky about Chinese food, and this is good stuff! The hot and sour soup is delicious. Lunch specials are great. My favorite dishes are: Happy Family, Chicken with Cashew nuts, Shrimp in Spicy Sze-Chuan sauce. Mmm. Pros: delicious food! more

This is the best szechaun restaurant in the Detroit area. Their Crispy Shrimp,General Tsao Chicken and Peking Duck is the best. My family and I have been eating at this restaurant for 30 years and it's always been a great experience. I've recommended this restaurant to many friends and they've loved it. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good szechaun food! more

Always a warm sincere smile and greeting from the owner or a family member (J) upon arrival. Nice.\r \r The decor is beautiful and excels far beyond casual without being pretentious or stuffy.\r \r Ambiance, is nicely lit not bright and speaking voice comfortable. Servers are very neat in attire displaying prompt and attentive service with a genuine desire to please. Kudos for the the water server, he rocks.\r \r O.K., what about the food? Well, It is 25 mi. round trip from my home, I do not work in the immediate area and I go 1-3 times a week for the pass 20+ years, I pass many other restaurants to come here. In a nutshell...great food!\r \r Meals have that picture book look of a top food magazine cover.\r \r Everything that I have ever had over the years has been no less than great. A outstanding selection (I love the look of the new menus) of meal choices, good service, good prices. Wow, I had to write a review. We've had carry-out several times from Sze-Chuan and have never been disappointed. The food is great, and I love their weekly specials. Service is great too! I have eaten at many chinese restaurants in my life, but this place is by far the best. Not only is it a great, comforting environment, it is very clean and inviting as well. The management always talks to their customers and knew me by name after two visits. The food, however, is the reason this place is the best. If you are looking for delicious, high quality authentic Chinese food at reasonable prices, Szechuan Restaurant is the place. I was taken there by a friend who lives near Canton, and now I drive about 25 miles every friday just to get a taste. If you love chicken try the hunan chicken or for something more familiar try the sweet and sour! Make sure to order the chicken lettuce wraps and spring rolls, or try their famous hot and sour soup. Whatever you order, the portions are more than enough and you will definitely have leftover for the next day. DELICIOUS food, great variety on the menu, gauranteed that you will love it. Szechuan - Canton is a restaurant we have been visiting for over 28 years. How many places can you say you have have been going to for great meals for over 25 years? Well this is one that has become a family favorite because the meals are excellent, the service wonderful, a terrific atmosphere, and a great choice of items on the menu. This restaurant is my first choice for Chinese cuisine and I have eaten in numerous Chinese Restaurants over the years from Alaska to Florida. This is also the first review I've written. \r \r The Sze-Chuan Restaurant in Canton is a family run business that has the personal touch not often found in my experience. They greet you pleasantly when you arrive, inquire of your needs while you dine, and thank you and ask you to please come again when you leave. They happily meet special requests for diners having special needs.\r \r They have a wide variety of excellent food, fast friendly service, a pleasant atmosphere and reasonable prices. Their menus offer numerous choices for both lunch and dinner. Most dishes may be ordered to personal taste ranging from ""spicy but not hot"" to ""full strength"". My personal favorites are their hot, sour soup,with Kung Pao Chicken, Moo-Shoo Pork, Barbeque Sauce Beef with Broccoli, or Baby Shrimp in spicy Sze Chuan Sauce. (This is making me hungry;-)\r \r This restaurant has a long history of high quality food and service. I tried the general chicken that people were raving about and found it to be pretty good, but nothing fantastic.Better food at Hunan Empire down the street. I might go back and try other dishes. I grew up going to this restaurant and have rarely strayed from the delicious General Tsou's Chicken. I've lived in Arizona for almost ten years and have visited Chinese restaurants across the country. I have yet to find a dish anywhere that I enjoy more than Szechuan's General Tsou's. I visit Detroit 1-2 times a year now and the first stop after touching down at Metro is Szechuan's. more

If you like general tso chicken, this is the place to go! I recommend ordering it super spicy; it will have a good kick, but it's slightly milder than Buffalo Wild Wing's ""hot"" sauce. If you want a good deal, go during lunch--they have very cheap lunch specials! The restaurant is very clean and has an eloquent appearance.
