Horrible is too nice of a word! -- one star is too much! 12/28/2010

I actually never got to taste the food so I won't comment on that. My story sounds like many others here. Placed and order and never got it. When I went to pick up my Christmas dinner turkey and was told I had to wait. Then that it was first come first serve...I had placed the order 10 days prior and confirmed several times over the phone! The employees were rude and the place was very dirty. The floor was like a grease rink! The Health Department should pay them a visit soon! Please save yourself the bad experience. more

Abysmal Customer Service 12/26/2010

Where do I begin? I ordered turkey online for Christmas Eve on 12/14/10. The cutoff for Christmas orders was 12/16/10. I requested that it be delivered between 5pm and 7pm. My guests were to arrive at 7pm. At 6:30 on Christmas Eve, I called to check on my order. I was put on hold for 10 minutes and eventually hung up since I'd obviously been forgotten. I did hear the manager berating whoever picked up the phone for not making the turkeys that were ordered. Is there no hold button? I called back about 7 times and finally talked to someone. They informed me that they were running behind due to numerous orders and would have someone call me back. No one called me back. At 8pm, I called again, and was told the turkey would be there in 30 minutes. At 9pm I called and was told they were 20 minutes away. At 10pm, with a house full of hungry guests, I called again, and was livid. They informed me that they were about 30 minutes away. At 10:30pm I called again and had to give the driver directions to my house since he was lost. No GPS for delivery drivers? Really? So at 11pm, we finally sat down to eat. The turkey was good but it's obvious that they made the turkey when I called at 6:30 to inquire about it. I had food ready at 7pm so needless to say as the hostess, I was beyond rage, trying to keep sides warm for 4 hours. They *said* they'd refund the $20 delivery charge but I'll be pressing that matter until it's taken care of. If you plan to do business with this poor excuse for a company, you unfortunately will have to confirm your order at the time you'd like them to prepare it. I will never order from this company again and have a busy day of posting this review on my Facebook page as well as any other business review page I can find. Better Business Bureau here I come! more

Horrible!!! 12/17/2010

Horrible company to do business with. Bought their Living Social deal and ordered my turkey the day it came out. When I ordered, there was no place to choose a shipping method...only a box to state whether it was for pick up or delivery. Well, I stated I wanted it delivered today, 12/17. Today I called to get an estimate time for delivery and they said I never paid shipping and my turkey was not coming. As a businees, and providing quality service to the customer, I should have been called ahead of time to be informed that there was a problem with my order as I would have been happy and willing to pay for delivery....just had no way of doing it when this first launched. Needless to say this company completely screwed me for a family function this evening without even trying to make it right. I was told they have over 500 orders...well, if you can't handle the business and treat each order personally...don'y put out anymore Groupons or Living Socials. HORRIBLE BUSINESS. Wouldn'tt take my dog to eat there!!!! STAY AWAY!!! Because of them, my family dinner tonight has been completely messed up!!! THANKS....crapeez r us!!! more

Great catfish & blues! 9/14/2010

I've been several times on Friday night and thé catfish is great. The place is small but band helps give it that hole in the wall feeling which is ideal for true southerners. more

Awesome!!!! 7/9/2010

My wife and I stumbled accross this place on a friday night. The food was awesome. It is a fimily atmosphere. I had the tamale and Catfish combo. I never knew Mississippi was known for a tamale, but it was exceptional. My wife had the catfish and Red beans. She is a picky eater and I knew if she thought the catfish was good they were doing something well. Little did we know they had Live Music. The band was awesome. The Place was packed though it's a bit small also. I loved it My wife Loved it, and we will be back. Keep up the good work Sweet Teas Pros: Great time!!! Cons: Too Small more

Not again anytime soon. 6/18/2010

The place looks nice (once you get past the screaming kid in that back that makes random guest appearances at your table). It has potential but there was hardly anything available on the menu and me and a friend went mid-afternoon! Ended up having the catfish (like what looks like the other customers were having) and fries along with tamales. Nothing to get excited about. I think I'll wait a few months and give them another go. more

Nice place 2/18/2010

I've been meaning to stop by and check them out since they opened and finally got an opportunity to do so today. I ordered the catfish & rib combo basket with side of collard greens and a peach sweet tea. The sweet tea was excellent and so was the collard greens and catfish. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when I got to the ribs, they tasted baked, not nasty ,just not grilled like I was expecting. Let me preface that with, when I order ribs I am expecting ribs that taste like someone put in a lot of work for them - I didn't get that here - I felt I could have thrown a slab in the oven and poured barbecue sauce on them and got the same effect. Even though they weren't what I was expecting they were edible just not something I would be recommending someone run and go try. The owners seemed to be nice and I was inspired to write this review because I would like to see them succeed and I'm a firm believer that you have to let people know the areas they are lacking so that they can improve and grow. I would also like to see the bar area a little more organized, they were obviously doing the books\business etc and it was spread out across the counter. Hopefully, as things continue some of the day to day management will iron itself out. Also, I feel that customers don't expect perfection and may let some things slide if they seem truly appreciated. Best wishes...I'll come back later and try something else out on the menu! Pros: Great Peach Sweet Tea, Nice Owners Cons: Baked Tasting Ribs more

Don't waste your time or money here! 1/30/2010

My and a few friends decided to check out Sweet Tea's last Friday night. I asked for Tilapia, but they didn't have any left. I then asked for the deep fried turkey, there was none left. I asked for Peach Tea, the didn't have any left. I ended up ordering a Sweet Tea (which was mostly water) and catfish. The catfish was salted down and tastless. The mac-cheese was bland and runny. The bar was dirty, their children were behind bar playing on the computer and running around. There was trash on the floor behind the bar. #1 how can you run out of key menu items at 8pm on a Friday night? The prices are extremely high for terrible food. My suggestion would be to close down and start over. We were so disappointed we left and went to another restaurant to eat. Don't waste your money here! Pros: Live band Cons: Terrible food, poor service, limited seating more

Great Place,Good Food/Ex.Blues and a Relaxing atmosphere 10/28/2009

It reminds me of the little Cafes in Memphis off of Bill Street, it's so cute, the foods good and the music is Totally Old School Blues (I love It), and the owners are very nice. The atmosphere is so relaxing and down to earth. I would totally recommend it to friends, relatives and co-workers (which I already have). Oh, I almost forgot the Live Music, (yeh) a couple of nights a week. My husband and I have decided to make it one of our regulars. Pros: Best Old School Blues in Cobb/ATL Cons: Almost Hidden more

Outstanding Food 10/23/2009

This is a great new restaurant for catfish. However, since it is a new restaurant there are a couple areas of opportunities that will improve the overall dinning experience. I found the staff to be pleasant but lacking in the basics. No napkings on table. Must ask for sugar or sweetner. It took several days before we could find someone available at the restaurant. Seems it often opens late and therefor the lunch service starts late. Having said all this, I still plan to go to Sweet Tea's every chance I get. Pros: Food is great! Cons: Service need attention more

Great Food 10/17/2009

I stopped in sweet tea's on a sat afternoon and had a fried turkey sandwich and some white rice. It was very good. This is not the typical fast food place the food is very healthy. I wasn't sure what fried turkey would taste like but it was very good I would highly recomend sweet tea's to anybody looking for something different. The staff is very friendly. They have good entertainment as well. Pros: Friendly Staff Cons: None more

  • In Short
This Mississippi-style soul food shack employs rustic woods, throwback golden chandeliers and a dark yellow and red paint scheme to elicit that down-home-Delta feeling. The cuisine is rooted with classic Deep South cuisine; ribs, wings, deep fried chickens and turkeys anchor the menu awhile a third generation recipe for tamales provide a highlight as well as an interesting talking point. These delights come seasoned with a spicy red sauce and come by the dozen or half dozen. Authentic side dishes are worth exploring with smooth sweet potato soufflé and greens with turkey necks. Not surprisingly, catfish and sweet tea just so happen to be on the menu. Live blues performances are scattered throughout the week with solo acts and full string bands.
