Steak Ninjas! 11/14/2011

THE best fried rice I've ever had, add that lemon sauce and... *sigh*. Their sushi is also, for the most part, fantastic. The unagi is heavenly. Sashimi depends what they have in, we just order the sushi boat, and have had very good luck with the red snapper. Not the place for a quick pop in for food, take your time. The steak ninjas are highly entertaining. Excellent at what they do, but not always perfect, you do run the risk of getting shrimp tails in your hair. Good fun and delicious food. more

Great place to eat ! 3/7/2010

Love the food here. I eat at Susumu's often because I think the sushi/sashimi is really very good. I love also the oyster shooter and spicy tuna rolls. Another thing I enjoy is their sashimi plates. I've eaten their steaks a couple of times and the experience was good but typically I go their for sushi/sashimi. Pros: Great sashimi and sushi. Also a great steakhouse. Cons: Location is in Lynnwood more

Best Steaks and Seafood anywhere 6/26/2008

My mother, family & I have visited Susumu on numerous occasions. Our service has been wonderful, and the food is incredible. My Mother always has Filet Mignon & Shrimp, I have tried all the seafood & have settled on the Scallops, they are tender and perfectly cooked, as is my Mother's Filet. We always ask for Pat. He has been at Susumus for years, he is funny, entertaining and a great chef. The parking is odd as they share with the hotel. All in all our experience is great, it is the only place in Lynnwood that we go to eat out. Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Food more

Well flavored food 2/17/2007

My bf and I came here on one of the snow days when we just couldn't bear to be burdened with making another dinner. Plus we wanted to test our tires out on the streets ;) Susumu had been recommended by a good friend, and to us it seemed to be located at such an odd place. Out in the middle of Lynnwood under a hotel? Oh well. We tried it and were very happy we did so. Much like the overrated Benihana, chefs will come and prepare your food tableside. However, we found that the portions were much larger and were flavored better as well. All at a fraction of the price and a more laid-back environment. We will definitely be coming here again! Pros: great value, nicely flavored food, friendly staff Cons: location, but hey at least there's free parking! more

Best Sushi in the Area 4/24/2006

I have lunch in the sushi bar here regularly. The Sushi chefs are friendly and experienced....always the freshest sushi and perfect preperation. more

How on earth did this place get a high rating??? 1/16/2006

A group of 12 of us ate here at 8pm on New Years Eve...we were all very dissappointed with the service, the chef at our table, the tough sushi, the prices. For almost twenty dollars a person, we got iceberg lettuce drenched in dressing, then 10 minutes later we got chicken broth, then ten minutes the chef came to our table and we got three pieces of shrimp. This was well over a HALF HOUR after we got seated! The teriyaki chicken was mediocre, as was the fried rice....after spending TWO HOURS at this place, you'd think it would be to savor the delicious food-certainly not! Cons: Poor value, low quality food, slow service more

Lynnwood's Version of Benihana 11/12/2005

This review is in reference to the steakhouse portion of the restaurant. After a long day of unpacking , my husband and I needed to grub hard. We chose Susumu. The low candle like lighting and comfortable seating was very much to my liking. The chef who cooked our meals in front of us was friendly enough, but seemed a little nervous and for the most part, kept quiet. We suspected that he may be new to the showcase chef thing. He was somewhat entertaining, but if you are looking for the classic Benihana performing chefs, this isn't the place to go. One put off for me was having to ask for chopsticks. Everyone at our table except for the little kids had to ask for chopsticks. If you are a Japanese restaurant, it is tacky to have forks on the table in place of chopsticks. Pros: nice atmosphere, quick service, ample parking Cons: overpriced more

A good show 1/13/2003

Fair prices, great food, decent location and a good ""show"" to boot. If you like Benihana's food and atmosphere but not their prices, then Susumu is just right for you. Also has a good Sushi bar. Pros: Fair prices, good service Cons: poor parking more
