The food was nicely presented and the restaurant is decorated nicely. However, the food did not taste as good as it looks. The ""4"" assortment dish of sashimi was not as good as ...

So Fresh 10/27/2003

I love this place. I've been here a few times and definitely enjoy this location better than the village location. First off, this place has an amzing drink list. Their mojitos are perfect and their apple martinis are the best I've had. The yellowtail cerviche is unbelievable and every roll I've ever had here is exceptionally good. I will definitely keep coming back! Pros: yellowtail, drinks Cons: small, expensive more

time to move on... 10/8/2003

beware of B&T! the sushi is so-so, the 70s orange-themed atmosphere is 2000ish, and there is no reason for the staff's attitude. maybe impressive for out-of-towners, but locals should go elsewhere. Pros: roofdeck, mixed drinks, ceviche Cons: attitude, sushi freshness, value more

Go for the Brazilian fare 10/7/2003

My wife and I go to the 7th Ave. restaurant quite often. We start with the Caipirinha's because it takes a while to get seated, but after one or two of these great drinks with the great latin music playing we don't mind the wait for a table. It's also fun to sit at the sushi bar. We usually go for the Brazilian food. Try the Moqueca Mista and the Snapper. We haven't been to the Park Avenue restaurant but we did go to the Miami Beach location on Lincoln Avenue and it was pretty darn good also. Pros: Brazilian dishes, Caipirinha's, the Music Cons: A little pricey more

Great Time - Fun Fun!!! 10/6/2003

I was at Sushi Samba Chicago and had to see if NYC SUSHI SAMBA lived up to its younger sister. It did! The sushi was great and the drinks were strong and tropical. You must catch the vibe and enjoy. I recommend it!!!!! Pros: Drinks, Music, Scene more

Nice and Expensive 9/7/2003

Good food, but small portions and it's by no means cheap. Pros: Interesting Food Cons: Expensive, Small portions more

Pretty Hip and Happening Spot 8/29/2003

I just got back from a great meal at sushi samba...The service was great, even though it was really crowded but thats a good thing, i had the special mango martini, and the special banana dessert, everything was delicious, would definately go back Pros: great vibe, music, good service more

$400 sushi bill 8/13/2003

We spent over $400 on saki, sashimi and not much else. While the sashimi was above average, it certainly did not justify the price. Will have to reserve judgement until another visit. Pros: Fairly fresh fish, Good drink recomds Cons: Sushi recommendations, noisy more

the best mix ever 8/5/2003

japanese and brazilian!? who's the genius who came up with this? Our waitress was so pretty and sweet, I wanted to be her...I had the chilean seabass...SOO GOOD...and the mango drinks were great, the calamari just rightly spiced, everything was great! It started getting packed right after we got there so go early. DON'T GET PARK CONFUSED WITH 7!!!! I thought I'd try 7 because it was much closer and would be the same as Park...but NOOOOO 7 was such a DISAPPOINTMENT....the chef there cooks totally differently and the dishes are SO BAD Pros: Service, Presentation, Food Cons: Price more

Fab! 4/2/2003

Sushi Samba is small but cute and trendy. The food and drinks are incredibly unique and tasty. Everything is so good that you cant help but find yourself going overboard. Although it is a tad pricey, it is well worth it! more

great mojhitos & sushi 3/11/2003

Great mojitos, nice and strong. Impressed with the fusion of latin and japanese cusine. Stick with the sushi and creative ceviches. The cooked entrees were okay, but not memorable- the sea bass was decent but too pricey for the small portion. Fun atmosphere with great latin music in the background. For a more traditional experience, go to Yama or Mizu, both around the corner. Pros: fun and festive, great ceviches, good drinks Cons: pricey more

Playroom of the beautiful people 1/19/2003

Very fun place. Good food that is fun and interesting to eat- its like every dish is a brand new toy to play with. Also a lot of beautiful people, so good eye candy too. Pros: fun, friendly, good service Cons: noisy, crowded more

shi shi sushi 1/17/2003

Last night I went here with 2 girl friends - this particular sushi samba is alot smaller than the other one. We had a wonderful time! The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The drinks were creative and although expensive - they were delicious and strong - ha ha we may have had one too many! The restaurant had a fun buzz that made you feel like part of the scene. The bartender was fun and knew his drinks and our waiter was perfect. The only thing that was a little annoying was that the hostess didnt want to let us finish our first drinks at the bar and kept rushing us to sit down. One particular thing on the menu stood out and that was the 'el toro' it was sooo good and that was where I really saw brazilian meet japanese - dont pass it up! more

cool?? more like TACKY 1/12/2003

This restaurant is for kids. It thinks that its menu is serious, yet again, its more CONFUSION than japanese and brazilian fusion. this seems to be a trend for the past few years. Like the last reviewer, the 3 of us got jammed into a 2-person table with a reservation, ate mediocre if forgettable fare, and overall had a higly unpleasant experience. And of course, after hearing that it was so cool, I was disappointed to see for myself that it was cheesy, tacky, and nothing special. wouldn't ever go back. Cons: service, tacky environment, so-so food more

Never Going Back 1/5/2003

This was one of the worst experiences I have had yet. I always go to the sushi samba downtown but myself and 2 friends decided to try this one. They sat 3 of us cramped and at 2 person table. The waiter was horrible and brought us the wrong food, not to mention the prices were astronomical. We asked the host why it cost more there than at the sushi samba downtown and he said ""because it's on park"". I would never go there again. Pros: Fresh sushi, Good Drinks Cons: Price, Service, Attitude more

Bad service 12/30/2002

Friday noght a group of us went here for dinner. We had reservations yet the hostess wanted to give us a table which we would share with 3 other people! We ended up waiting for 15 minutes for a regular table for 4. The drinks are forced on you and we felt rushed. I don't know about other location, but I dont recommend this one. more

Get ready for a night on the town! 12/23/2002

A very cute, uptown nook in which you can sit comfortably with colorful drinks and people-watch! Perfect for a night out with the girls...just grab a clutch, credit card and camera and you're out to experience good dining with the company of other chic, up-beat new yorkers. Your dazzling eyes are drawn to the bar which can't really be described...check it out for yourself. Plus, the waiters are cute and they have a pretty cool bathroom too! more

Ruined the sashimi! 12/18/2002

The food was nicely presented and the restaurant is decorated nicely. However, the food did not taste as good as it looks. The ""4"" assortment dish of sashimi was not as good as the waiter said it was. The sauce overwhelmed the natural taste of the fish. Style over substance here. Pros: Trendy Cons: Crowded more

FABULOUS!! 11/9/2002

This is my favorite restaurant in the city- food is incredible every time, consistently fresh and wonderful. The chefs are creative and masters at their craft. Drinks delicious! It is expensive, but well worth every penny. What a great fusion of two vastly different cuisines- highly recommended! Pros: delicious food, great mojitos, beautiful atmosphere Cons: expensive... more

nothing to right home about 10/22/2002

SS7 was ok. More of a place to go for the ""trendy"" atmosphere and the strong drinks. Food was ok, not great. Highlight of the evening was Eve drinking a mojito at the next table. I heard that the staff was impolite; I did not find this to be the case. Not memorable, not forgettable. Blah. Reminds me of a ghetto Asia de Cuba @ St. Martin's Lane in London. Pros: Strong drinks, good bartenders, cool bathrooms Cons: forgettable food, too loud more

Mmmm... heaven 10/15/2002

This is one of my favorite restaurants in New York City. The food is heavenly. A wonderful fusion of Japanese and Latin flavors. The ceviche is to die for, also look for kolby beef specials. Every meal I've had here has left me floating and thank god for that because the wait for a table can be ridiculous with or without reservation! Pros: Food, Drinks Cons: Can be expensive, Service, Crowded more
