Don't eat here! I want my usual seat at the bar!!! 3/26/2008

Look, I'm seriously tempted to write a scathing review of Sushi Mashiko so no one goes there, but me and my family! Yes, it's a little hole in the wall. Yes, it's in the Ralph's strip mall at Jefferson and Overland. And yes, it is so delicious and affordable to eat at that I don't want anyone there. Pros: Good sushi at great prices. Cons: Sometimes hard to find a place to sit. more

High Quantity, Low quality 10/1/2007

After reading all the rave reviews on citysearch, tripadvisor, and menupages, we thought this place is on par with other amazing sushi places in the area such as Hiko or Echigo. We could not be more wrong. We ordered 6 cut rolls, most rolls 8 pieces, which is too many, compared to most places and we would have minded that, except that the sushi quality was on par with something you buy from whole-foods. The tuna was not fresh; the rice was not soft, flavorful or sticky as it should be, but rather quite benign. The nigiri eel was good but most cut rolls were boring. The sweet sauce used on eel save the eel rolls and nigiri. The vegetable roll was saved by the piece of shiso used in it, which made it quite interesting. Pros: Cheap, large quantity, may be good for large groups Cons: Bogus sushi, terrible service more

Very good sushi for the price! 11/24/2006

Great great great sushi. Takes a while... but its worth it. The scenary isn't much to look at, but if you're just looking for fresh fish at reasonable prices, this is your best bet.! Pros: Fresh fish... Cons: Slow service... more

Worth it! 10/9/2006

I am a sushi lover so i've been around and I can tell you that this place is the best I ever had ^_^ well I guess you have to try it for yourself. It's very quiant and small place but definately a treat, the salads are really good and healthy for those who are going lean. The sushi chef is really good, he knows his stuff. I love the salmon and albacore. Even if you're not into sushi, i recommend the bento box :) the tempura is sooo fresh and crisp. Pros: food, sushi, tempura Cons: long wait more

Top Notch! 5/9/2006

One of the best sushi restaurants in West LA. Inexpensive sushi with huge chunk of fish, freshly prepared everyday. Chefs salmon and yellowtail sushi are definitely recommended, but you might also want to try his special rolls, the rainbow roll and the caterpillar roll. My personal favorite sushi is his Aji, uniquely available only on Tuesday and Thursday. Love it, love it, love it!! Pros: Huge cut, inexpensive, easy parking spot Cons: Tiny restaurant more

My absolute FAVORITE sushi restraunt!!!! 4/4/2006

after going to this place, my boyfriend and i cant even eat sushi anywhere else. if you care about the quality of the fish, this is definately the place to go. the chef is very sweet, service is wonderful and the food is spectacular. to top it off, it's very inexpensive for such quality fresh fish. i highly recommend the albacore, mackeral, and toro (when it's available)!! Pros: inexpensive, fresh fish, excellent service more

Unbelieveble taste 6/3/2004

I was introduce to the place by a friend of mine who has been going here for a while now. And she knows i love sushi, so i thought i might try it myself. Looking outside, i couldn't tell if it was a restaurant, but when i went inside, the cozy atmosphere and the Chef's warm welcome drew me in right away. Not to mention the food there was really really good, the sushi was really good and i've been to many sushi places and this was by far my favorite, high quality sushi without that high quality price. Well i hope you will try it out yourself so you'll know what i'm talking about. Pros: not crowded, small, Really good sushi more

Best little sushi place you can find 5/31/2004

This little sushi restaurant did not stick out like every where else but i certainly was impressed by the chef and the taste. One of my favorite dish that you cannot find anywhere else is the yami salad, very delicious and healthy. I recommend the albacore sushi and rainbow roll. The price was well worth it. Not to mention the sushi Chef is a great guy who has study quality sushi from Japan (which is hard to find now and days). Also i heard there will be more new dishes which i can't wait for myself :) Hope you will try it out yourself more
