Worst

Not very good for the price. Very expensive combo meals and didn't even come with the normal soup or salad you'd expect from a sushi restaurant at this pricepoint.

Editorial review from GrubHub 3/19/2014

The sushi was gross, it made my office smell like rotten fish. The delivery guy got lost and then was rude to me like it was my fault he didn't know where to go. I gave the correct address to my building and clear instructions. Never ordering from here again. more

Not good, would not order from again. The Jap Chae was so bad I threw most of it away. I've had their sushi (at the restaurant) and that has been good, but thoroughly disappointed in the cooked foods. more

Horrible. If you're interested in good sushi that's not made with rotten fish, don't order from this place. more

bad korean dishes 2/2/2012

don't order the korean dishes! especially the beef short ribs and the spicy pork. We went there for dinner and afterwards got very bad stomach immediately. The beef was so oily, undercooked, and tastes much worse compared to that in oishi bento in oakland. I will never go there again more

Rated by Authentic Koreans as ""Better Than Moms"" 4/21/2011

I've had the privilege to chaperone exchange students from Korea around Pittsburgh. My group was here for about a month, and the previous chaperones took them everywhere American, which is great. When I travel, I want to live as the locals live, no better way. But sometimes I just want a good-ole American cheezeburger. So..... I just mentioned in passing if they wanted to go to a Korean restaurant, and they all practically yelled YES in unison. We went, and they said it was better than home. That was all I needed to sell me. And besides, it is delicious! more

If bad sushi was a crime, this place deserves life. 12/17/2009

I have enjoyed sushi all over the world, and consider myself an aficionado, but this place takes the cake for the absolute worst. The Ikura was mushy and warm, the roe should be cool and firm and explode in your mouth. The Uni was tough, old, and made me gag (Uni is also my favorite along with Toro and Fugu). The clam was soft, warm, and miniscule. This is the first time in my life that I have not been able to complete my meal. This is the first time I have ever been compelled to compose a review, but feel an obligation to protect my fellow sushi lovers. I am just waiting now to get sick. Pros: Service: good waiter Cons: The health department should pay a visit more

Superb Restaurant 6/15/2009

Sushi Kim is one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh, hands down. From all the friends and family members I have brought to Sushi Kim for the great food, they were amazed. The atmosphere was smooth and very elegant as we waited for our food and the wait staff was very friendly. We were greeted to our food extremely well by the beautiful little side dishes before our meal. The sushi was prepared in a wooden boat which was a sight to behold and the staff cooperated with all of our requests. Pros: Authentic Sushi, Relaxing Atmosphere, Quick Service more

Best sushi in Pittsburgh! 1/10/2009

Sushi Kim is my favorite sushi restaurant in Pittsburgh. They have great sushi, excellent service, cool atmosphere and very affordable prices. The maki rolls are very large and filling at a very reasonable price. They serve a complimentary miso soup that is delicious. Be sure to try the salad with ginger dressing as well. The service is very prompt and everyone is really nice. If you are looking for sushi in Pittsburgh, Sushi Kim is your best bet. We love it! Pros: Great sushi, great prices, great service! Cons: None! more

Sushi Heaven 7/16/2008

The first time I heard of this place was in 2007. My girlfriend and I were sad we did not find out in time to go. So, this year, when we came up for the annual convention (AnthroCon), we got our bearings and went to see if this place was any good as a local restaurant in Clarksburg, WV. The both of us were surprised at the variety on the menu and the quick service. The workers were friendly and kept check on us throughout the meal without being intrusive. I had always stayed away from sea urchin sushi due to bad reviews and bad process in fixing it, but at Sushi Kim, my girlfriend and I had some and it was superb! We came back the next afternoon with two other friends staying with us because we liked it so much. We just had to share our find. The workers recognized us as convention goers (so they knew the city's activities), and they chatted with us. They did not show an odd look one at our ears and tails we had on, and our waiter even picked up my costume tail when it fell off! We got smiles, quick service, delicious sushi, conversation, and the best green tea icecream ever. Also, it was much cleaner than some of the other places in town. My friends and I definitely will make it a stop during the furry convention so long as it stays in the city. I recommend this place to anybody if they have the taste for sushi. Pros: food, ambience, cleanliness, polite workers Cons: price range is a little steep if not with friends, little parking more

Excellent Korean food! 7/11/2008

I'm not sure why others have said the Korean food doesn't taste like ""real"" Korean food. I was recently in Seoul, S. Korea for a week - and after returning visited Sushi Kim and was surprised just how similar their food was to what I had while I was in Seoul. more

Best Sushi and Korean Specialty B.B.Q 4/16/2008

I took my family to eat at Sushi Kim and we had a wonderful experience. We ordered Sashimi, and a few Korean dishes. The fish was fresh and the Korean dishes were delicious. The restaurant has a good ambience, the waiters and waitresses are courteous and nice. I highly recommend this place. Pros: great atmosphere, reasonable price, lots of food, courteous waiters/waitresses more

Good for BBQ buffet but not for other food. 12/4/2007

I've been there three times and for two of them I had regular meals and they tasted bad. All Koreans I went with said that their Korean food does not taste like Korean food. I haven't tried their sushi. Their BBQ buffet is good if you like meat and you eat much. Pros: Friendly Cons: Food more

Traditional Korean Restaurant - - - Authentic Korean food and absolutely awesome sushi!!!!!!! 6/2/2007

Sushi Kim is the only authentic Korean restaurant in Pittsburgh that hasn't been modified to a purely American palate. You will see and hear Koreans eating there . . . I took several Korean exchange students there for a break from McDonalds and they said that it was better than home!!!!! The first thing you experience is the aroma when you enter. I love it. If your hungry, your mouth begins to water. I like all the food.... some of the dishes are so strange and are unlike what you find in other places. But they are delicious. Koreans use alot of hot spice, and so if you like that, your a fan. I am getting used to it, and the kimchi is delicious. So are these little appetizers that they bring before your main meal. All kinds of strange things that you will never see at Fridays. I once heard a saying that ""Minds are like parachutes. . . they only work when open"". This applies here. When you start to nibble on these things they bring you, your eyes will pop-open. The taste is incredible. Why would you deny yourself this culinary experience? Life is too short!!! As for Sushi, they have a staff that is both friendly and efficient. The sushi bar is fun, not like the austere environment of a Japanese sushi bar. For those who have concern about Korean sushi, you should remember that the Japanese are really people who are genetically identical to the Koreans.....the Japanese migrated from the Korean peninsula and settled Japan eons ago, taking the best with them. The Koreans have maintained a less formal approach to presentation, which is comforting and fun. I love the place. Drink, eat, and be merry applies here. You will make friends too. Pros: Authentic Korean Food, Comfortable Atmosphere Cons: Not close enough to my house!!!!! more

Excellent recommendation! 5/15/2007

We were advised to get the ""best sushi"" in Pittsburgh here and they were right! Great selection of fresh fish, wonderful rolls and maki. The service was efficient and fast. On Mondays their kitchen is closed so it's just sushi and you get 10% off your bill. Great deal! If I'm ever in Pittsburgh again, I'll be stopping by for dinner! Pros: Great sushi, prices, and deal. Cons: location and parking more
