Sunset Family Restaurant

I would like to start out by saying that I had never been to this restaurant before and this was a terrible first experience. I will not ever be returning. I came here for breakfast with my boyfriend at around 6:30 a.m. When we first walk in the lady who I am assuming is part owner or has some role in management of the restaurant says to us that she does not want to get up and that we can grab our own menu and seat ourselves. I looked past that first lazy act. Then the booth we sit in there is a dead fly in the window sill full of dust. We look around and the place overall does not seem to be clean. We figure we are already here and to give the food a chance. We get our food and it seems good at first. Until I get to the end of my meal and I find two medium length gray hairs in my food. We proceed to tell the waitress what we had found and she tells us to tell the manager. We then tell her that she should let the manager be aware of the situation for us. I have eaten here before. Can't believe this happened!\r \r The Sunset Family Restaurant was on TMJ4's Dirty Dining at the end of this past March 2010. Raw food handling followed by handling customer's food was reported. Food was being kept out at too warm a temperature. A prep cooler wasn't keeping food cool enough. Employees weren't washing hands very much or changing gloves after touching raw food such as eggs. The ice machine chute, cutting boards, and meat slicer and grinder were all in need of cleaning. more

I have been going there for business meetings and with my family since I moved to the area. You simply can NOT get a better breakfast anywhere else. Lunch is very filling and cheaper than McFatties, or Booger King. Dinner is has unbelieveable prices on traditional plates, and even non-traditional plates are price very good compared to AppleB's, Outback, etc... The food is great, the customer service is great, the price is excellent, and it is very child friendly. Plus now they have incorporated a couple of flat-panel televisions, so I am there watching the Packers and Brewers games and during the mornings and afternoons on weekdays they put on news channels like CNN or Fox. The previous reviewer owns a restaurant somewhere and is probably jealious. If you never been there, you should go and try their awesome breakfast, filling lunch specials, friday fish fry is excellent, and there dialy dinner special. I really like it there and it has become my second kitchen. BTW, there soups ROCK! Almost forgot, they offer free beer or wine, salad or soup and dessert with there dinners - Who else does that?!?!?! And free soup with a lunch special sandwich. This is the place to be if you need a cheap meal, but don't want to compromise on quality of food. Try it, you won't regret it. Pros: Price, Food quality and quantity, atmosphere, service Cons: Sunday breakfast or Friday Fish Fry waiting line, but you'll be happy you waited. more

My friend and I love to go to lunch here. It's close to our work and the food is quite good. The service is also quite good. Go try it out for yourself. more

it's a nice little greek restaurant here in Waukesha. You get a decent amount of food for the money. The gyros aren't too bad as well as the monte cristo's. The bathroom could use a bit of a spit shine. more

You'll get a ton of food, but it's just okay. Nothing special here. more
