The waitstaff and the food runners are all friendly and helpful. You can dine in the Summer Shack for chowder and a salad, for sandwiches (excellent haddock sandwich), or for more hearty fare...the daily specials are posted on the blackboards as well as the fresh oysters (locale), appetizers, drinks, and desserts. We love the sardine special (appetizer) when it's available as well as the mackerel (entree) when that is available. They used to have the best potato salad around (no longer available)...too bad, because I don't like mushy mayonnaise(Y) things, and his was just the right blend of all ingredients and it was always served ice cold. I also want to mention that Summer Shack prepares an awesome steak (for the non-fish lovers), in fact, I am told by others in my family (I don't eat steak) that the steak here rivals the best steak houses!. We would highly recommend Summer Shack...and keep in mind, you don't have to go to Connecticut to experience Jasper's creation (he is sometimes there as well), there is one in Cambridge, Massachusetts and it is the same service, freshness, and quality. I own a couple of Jasper's cookbooks and they are well worth the purchase, especially, ""Fifty Chowders"". If you love fish and seafood, this is the dining experience for you!
