Summer Shack

Our waitress Chelsea was wonderful and attentive at all times. In such a busy environment she still made us feel like we were special.\r more

This is one of our usual stops at the casino. We enjoy sitting at the bar ordering drinks and food. I try to pick something from the daily specials and have never been disappointed. Some of the past winners included Arctic Char, Bass and Mahi Mahi. The salads, raw bar, entree's are wonderful and for a seafood restaurant they even have great steak. more

The waitstaff and the food runners are all friendly and helpful. You can dine in the Summer Shack for chowder and a salad, for sandwiches (excellent haddock sandwich), or for more hearty fare...the daily specials are posted on the blackboards as well as the fresh oysters (locale), appetizers, drinks, and desserts. We love the sardine special (appetizer) when it's available as well as the mackerel (entree) when that is available. They used to have the best potato salad around (no longer available)...too bad, because I don't like mushy mayonnaise(Y) things, and his was just the right blend of all ingredients and it was always served ice cold. I also want to mention that Summer Shack prepares an awesome steak (for the non-fish lovers), in fact, I am told by others in my family (I don't eat steak) that the steak here rivals the best steak houses!. We would highly recommend Summer Shack...and keep in mind, you don't have to go to Connecticut to experience Jasper's creation (he is sometimes there as well), there is one in Cambridge, Massachusetts and it is the same service, freshness, and quality. I own a couple of Jasper's cookbooks and they are well worth the purchase, especially, ""Fifty Chowders"". If you love fish and seafood, this is the dining experience for you! more

If seafood is your thing, and your in the area, it's your best bet. The price isn't so outrageous compared to the quality of the food. Everything it is pretty tasty. The atmosphere is unique; open bar/aquarium with dinner swimming about. Makes for a nice setting for a seafood dinner. more

Good, fresh, well-priced seafood. The kitchen serves a nice selection of entrees and isn't afraid to put items on the menu that might expand your horizons, such as grilled fresh sardines. I commend them for that! more
