Wonderful service for more than 8 years. 11/23/2011

I've been using Suffolk Pest Control as long as I've lived in Smithfield, which is about 8 1/2 years now, and they wonderful service. Whenever I need them, they come, and they give me the appointment times I need. They are very polite on the phone. I actually had a snake in the dishwasher a couple of weeks ago, so I called them to see if they do snakes, but they didn't, so they referred me to somebody that did. It has just been wonderful! more

Helped me when so many other failed. 11/21/2011

There is no question about it, Suffolk Pest Control is excellent. My experience with them has been somewhat simple, to me. I have spent many, many years at this very home that my parents built some time ago. It is in one of the nicer neighborhoods, but there is a roach problem here, and it's one of our best kept secrets. I have had people from other places try and solve the problem, but Suffolk Pest Control is just a cut above the rest, that's all. Other people just didn't have the knowledge, but these people are very well trained, and they are unrelenting, that't the best word for it. It took several months, and now there is next to no problem. Where others failed, they came as close to curing it as you can get. My praise is not a stretch, they are entitled to it, because they helped me where so many others, for whatever reason, failed. more

Suffolk Pest Control is a good company to use. They are dependable. They are priced right. They do a great job without demanding a contract. The people who work for them are professional. A good company to deal with. more

  • Suffolk Pest Control was established in 1982 by Harold E. (Jerry) Putman as a sole proprietorship. Jerry & his wife, Shelby operated from their home in Suffolk for the first 3 years. Shelby answered the phone and took work orders while also working in her hair salon. Jerry worked the pest control appointments alone until it was more than he could keep up with. He then hired Rex Millena, who is still with us today. Jerry's daughter, Donna started working with Jerry as the business began to grow. In 1985, Suffolk Pest Control moved to an office located in Downtown Suffolk. The business maintained 4 full-time employees.


    Suffolk Pest Control's honest reputation began to spread by word of mouth. Soon, they were working in other surrounding cities. In January 2000, Jerry Putman decided to retire. Suffolk Pest Control was sold to Jerry's daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Fairren Huneycutt. The company became incorporated with Donna serving as President & Fairren as Vice President.


    Fairren started in the insulation business in 1978 by opening Nansemond Insulation Company. His experience with insulation provided additional knowledge of moisture conditions in the understructure, sidewalls, & attics. Nansemond Insulation gradually grew into Nansemond Exteriors Inc. specializing in exterior remodeling, replacement windows, siding & trim.


    Today, Fairren & Donna operate both Suffolk Pest Control Inc. & Nansemond Exteriors Inc. from their conveniently located office.
