New menu and wine list - SUPERB!!!!!!!!! 9/25/2011

There has been a HUGE improvement over the past months at both Stoney River locations. The menu has changed with some fabulous improvements, the staff is friendlier and more attentive and the wine list is just an incredible improvement. There is a noticeable upward trend going on in these restaurants which sets them apart from their competitors. This is a great choice for the money. Steaks are cooked perfectly, seafood additions are delicous and the expansion of the wines are a great idea. Go Stoney River! more

Cozy & Yummy 12/9/2009

When I want a quality filet cooked med rare this is my ""GO TO"". The meat is always cooked to perfection. The Shrimp cocktail is yummy too. Not to mention the bread is A MA ZING! I prefer to sit in a booth away from the bar area. The bar area and main dining area can get a little loud sometimes. But that is prob due to the fact that everyone is having a good time! It reminds me of a upscale lodge. Very Cozy. Call ahead for reservations b/c I am not alone in my thoughts about this place. Pros: Best Filet and amazing bread! Cons: Long wait, somewhat loud more

Horrible, Horrible Food and Service 6/12/2009

Where do I start? Cons: Horrible Service, Bad Food. Management doesn't care. more

spend $40 for dinner????? 4/16/2009

ordered my steak medium rare. it came back a tiny bit pink in the middle only. for $40 you'd think they get it right, don't you???? will not go back, and we implore you to stay away. Pros: salad Cons: steak more

Terrible Waiters and Ambience 1/12/2009

I love a good steak. I love it medium rare, and I love it without sauces or excessive spices. In addition to a good steak, I love great service. I am not Donald Trump. If I spend 50 dollars on a meal, I expect it to be above average. I expect the food to be great, and I expect the service to be trouble free. Pros: The wine was OK Cons: Whitewashed steak house more

Bad Meat, Bad Cooking, Bad Service: Worst High End Steakhouse 1/12/2009

I just thought I'd let everyone know that if you're looking for a high end steak experience, avoid Stoney River at all costs. They charge premium prices, but their meat isn't very good, and they managed to overcook my prime rib and my friend's sirloin, both of which were ordered medium rare. Medium rare is not gray and dry inside. I can excuse that at Logan's or Sizzler, but not at a place charging 40 for a steak. Their ""rolls"" are more like donut holes, complete with honey cinnamon butter. Not something you'd really want with a savory steak. Their corn chowder was rather anemic, and their potatoes are absolutely WRETCHED. We both took one bite of the caramelized onion potatoes and spat it back up. It was so sweet it made the both of us gag. I know what caramelized onions taste like; rich and sweet, but not Snicker's bar sweet. Not Snicker's bars mashed with what could have been boxed potato flakes, they were that smooth and runny. Pros: Fast turnaround time Cons: Food, service more

very good meal 2/17/2008

We enjoyed our meal at Stoney River. My prime rib was excellent and so were the garlic mashed potatoes. My wife said that part of her ribeye was tough but over all it was good. The service was superb. We were not that impressed by the head of lettuce salad, the bleu chees dressing was not very good. Pros: great service, excellent steak Cons: a little too pricey, I've had just as good cheaper more

Amazing as always 1/25/2008

Last night, my husband and I had an amazing dinner. We had the whiskey shrimp appetizer, which was divine; I had the pecan encrusted swordfish, my husband had the 16 ounce prime rib. Our meals, the service and everything about the evening was wonderful, as always. Our water glasses were never less than half-full, and they were immediately re-filled; my before dinner drink, the mojito, was excellent! We were too full for dessert, but their doughnut rolls serve as a ""mini-dessert."" We greatly enjoyed our night, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great night out! Call ahead for priority seating. Pros: Everything is delicious! Cons: Expensive, but you get what you pay for - worth the night out. more

Very average visit from someone that frequents SR on Jan 4th 2008 1/6/2008

I always order my lodge filet medium. We received all of our sides but my steak was cooked very rare. We then sent it back""which was acceptable to us.. As our side items were getting cool, they brought the steak back after a few minutes and asked me to cut into it again. I could still see very little difference before thee first time I sent it back. Due to our sides starting to get cold, I decided to continue on with the steak. The sauteed mushrooms were very sub-par at best.. We also eat at this restaurant about once every two weeks. And we usually have an excellent experience. I ended up eating around the edge of my steak, and that was all I could stomach. When our waiter arrived he asked if I was already done with my steak and I told him it was still well undercooked for what I ordered. THIS WAS THE BIG PART THAT GOT ME. He then just said do you want me to bag it up for you?? Now how many people go to a steak house and ask their waiter to bag up their filet for the road so I can throw it back on the grill at home. He was not helpful at all and just dropped the check. I will start asking for a waiter by name on future trips. I believe we will start going back to Flemings for a while after that experience. Pros: Exellent Mashed Potatoes and Rolls Cons: Poor service from our Waiter on issues at our table more

The bread is AWESOME!! The steaks so tender!!! 6/12/2007

Oh, what can I say about Stoney River. My husband and I went for our anniversary and absolutely loved it. The bread and butter was so tasty. The menu was full of wonderful sounding entrees. We tried the lobster tail for appetizer, our first time trying lobster. It was good. We both got the filet and boy was it delicious. The steaks were so tender and juicy. The seasonings were awesome on the steaks. We also got a free dessert since it was our anniversary and I had called ahead and requested a reservation. We were not expecting the free dessert, but it was very thoughtful of them to give it to us complimentary. The server was so sweet and let us take our time ordering, we never felt rushed at all. Oh and the salad was delicious also. We actually went March 1, 2007 and we are going again this saturday for Father's Day. I am looking forward to it!!!!! Pros: romantic, excellent service, comp valet Cons: don't have any more

tender, juicy steaks 6/9/2007

these guys know how to cook a steak...outback is delicious..but these are THE BEST i've had. Check out the onion rings,,,,HUGE! MMMM, so good. After a bottle of wine for two and dinner, its on the higher side- but that will never keep me away from these steaks more

Great atmosphere, good service and good food! 2/19/2007

My husband and I went here Friday for a late Valentine's. We had a great experience. We had to wait about 30 min. before we were seated. But I knew that may happen ahead of time. They do not take reservations, but they do call ahead seating with the longest wait time being 30 min. Which I had called ahead. While we waited for our table we sat at the bar and had a glass of wine. The bartenders were very nice. The atmosphere was nice. They have complimentary valet parking. As soon as you walk in the door there is a fireplace. Very nice. Our server was great and the food was very good. Yes it is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The rolls were awesome. I had the the Twin Tenderloin Medallions and my husband had the Triple Beef Medallions ""Oscar"". We both really enjoyed our food. The steaks were very tender and tasty. We will be back! Pros: Tasty & fun Cons: Little pricey more

Where to start??? 1/25/2007

What an amazing experience! My husband and I drove up and he dropped me at the front door while he went to park. Well, he was in before I had even made it to the bar because they have complimentary valet parking! We had actually called for Advanced Seating (where they say they will seat you within 30 minutes of your ""reservation"") and found that there would be a 15-25 minute wait. We went to the bar and had the best bartenders! They recommended a great martini for me and encouraged us to order their Whiskey Shrimp appetizer while we waited. The shrimp came out at the same time as our table was ready so the bartender followed us to our table with our drinks and appetizer! What service!!! Pros: EVERYTHING!!!! Including the cool fireplace! Cons: I would have to go several times to actually find one! more

Avoid! 11/13/2006

Dinner is very expensive for what you get - salad was mainly iceberg lettuce and chicken was extremely cold. Service was bad and there was only us and one other table in the whole place. That should have given us a warning not to try it but we did and we were sadly disappointed. The rolls and butter were the best part of the whole meal. Pros: Good rolls and butter! Cons: Service and price more

Lunch was awesome 11/9/2006

I took my wife here for lunch on our anniversary. We had been to the one in Cool Springs on several occassions but never for lunch. They didn't serve lunch. The new one had a lunch menu that we hadn't seen. My wife and I took 20 minutes to decide what we were having. She had the steak sandwich and I had the fried grouper sandwich. Both were delicious. I highly recommend it for lunch or dinner. Go while the Titans are playing. You'll have their undivided attention. Pros: Menu Cons: Parking is limited more

Lunch and Dinner Were Great 10/29/2006

I've gone several times for lunch and for dinner and have found both experiences wonderful. They are doing a super job with the dinner meal--steaks are flavorful and the service is wonderful. Lunch was a nice surprise. I found a number of memorable items, not just the normal lunch meals, and was blown away by teh Shrimp Mac and Cheese and the Tenderloin Sandwich. I'd encourage you to go; new location but no construction in the area and the people are great. Pros: Food was wonderful every time. more

Great steaks and bread! 9/8/2006

My boyfriend and I were so excited about the opening of this new location. We went within the first 2 weeks of the opening and were extremely dissapointed with our food. I thought we'd never go back. But we decided to give it another try a few weeks after that. We have been many times since our 2nd visit and have been nothing but delighted with the food and service. All of the steaks are excellent. Avoid the lobster bisque. Enjoy the bread! Pros: Great food and service. Free valet. Great for couples Nice bar. Cons: You can not make a reservation. Hard for people on a strict time schedule. more
