Mark Jawitz,
On 8/3/2011, I watched you give my cat a rabies vaccine in the lower right side rib cage area, not in her right rear limb like you are supposed to. I remember how my cat flinched when the needle entered her side. I made a very big mistake entrusting my cat to you for the health certificate she needed for air travel.
My cat has a Vaccination-Site Fibrosarcoma diagnosed by five veterinarians at two separate practices. My primary vet and pathologist diagnosed a possible Fibrosarcoma and referred me to a surgeon at a specialty practice. The surgeon removed the tumor and the second pathologist confirmed Vaccination-Site Fibrosarcoma. Because of your carelessness or incompetence, my cat is terminally ill.
All the veterinarians have told me that the shot should have been administered in the back leg. I asked all of them if the correct method is taught in vet school and they were unanimous that the correct method is widely taught and well established. You could have asked me or one of your techs to assist you, but you chose to administer the shot in the side. You are negligent and incompetent.
Vaccination-Site Fibrosarcoma and its cause has been quite well known for years. I have no idea why you deliberately hurt my cat. Perhaps you didn't know any better or you don't care, I suspect the latter. Shame on you.
I will warn people about you and your careless practice.
Sincerely,
Mike S.
