Don't make a group reservation 12/11/2007

Careful in case you make a reservation here. They took my reservation, phone number, and credit card for 22 people to be seated at 6pm in tables by the window and then booked the entire room for a private party without ever calling to tell me. Most of my guests were from out of town and I was looking forward to showing them the view of Central Park. Instead we had to find a windowless bar downstairs. We were outraged to say the least but they didn't do anything except say ""we can take you at 9:30."" Place might be nice but no excuse for screwing a customer when a better deal comes along. more

the employees seem to be recently relocated from dusty, corny middle american towns 11/8/2007

This place is like a lounge in an airport or what corny non-New Yorkers would consider the ""hottest place"" in their dusty small town. Overpriced. The waitresses are rude. The bartenders are rude. Absolutely no scene. The crowd you find there all look like they are going to flag down a taxi to board the last nj transit train because the kids have school the next morning. Pros: you can catch a cab right outside of the mall Cons: you feel like you are being transported to some dusty small town more

BYOB (or bring a book) 9/8/2007

All the inattentiveness and indiffernce of Eurepean service but without the airfare! Tired of waiting for a waitress (who looks like she just stepped offf the set of a Robert palmer video) to come around, this local is giving up. A terrible waste of a great location and ambience. Pros: location, ambience Cons: service (lack thereof) more

bobvnyc is a pig. 9/2/2007

Wow. bobvnyc, you're a downer. Are you stocking shelves at the Duane Reade? Go easy. These girls who cocktail waitress in the city are generally persuing other careers and have enough to deal with, and they certainly don't want to touch anyone's stanky feet. She's already bringing you a drink and has had to deal with you speaking to her in a demeaning manner. Have some respect for the human race! This woman is a person too. With her own life and set of circumstances. I've been into the Stone Rose many times and have always had delightful service. Show a little kindness to people in the service industry and I promise you'll get excellent service! And kudos to the waitress willing to stand up for herself! You go girl! more

positive reviews = lying staff members 8/29/2007

give me a break ! to the whining staffer who left the last post....you should start thinking of another career pronto ! you people are in the service industry. the key word being SERVICE ! For the amount this place charges its patrons, i should be getting a foot massage while i enjoy my drink. stop the attitudes there and you folks may actually make some money ! stop being so freakin miserable and do your jobs, otherwise, have fun stocking shelves at duane reade ! more

Do you understand service people? 8/28/2007

Frst of all I'm tired of reading reviews from people who probably don't know the first thing about service. Most of the nose in the air people that come in there act like you're suppossed to be there maid. Guess what? The servers have more than your table to look after, if they are running around and not standing in one spot for longer than 30 seconds it probably means they are busy with their whole section. You usually don't just have one table at a time. Most obnoxious customers. Take a second and look at yourselves. If you're already in a bad mood, stay the hell at home. No one there is going to kiss your butt no matter how much you have. Anyone that gave a bad review to the service, let me see you with a tray in your hand and handle annoying peeps with no patience for 6-8 hours. Then let me hear you. Grow up. Pros: Service, Ambience Cons: Customers who know it all more

horrible service, rude staff, trashy atmosphere 4/19/2007

I was under the impression that this lounge was upscale and swanky, and so I decided to check it out with some frinds. It took them 30 minutes to seat us even though there were empty couches everywhere! The place had a wierd, pretentious, negative vibe and the staff looked trashy and acted like they didn't need our business. I will never step one foot in there again. Without the view, this place would never survive in this city! It's no better than any bar you'd find in any mall in the rest of the U.S.! Nothing memorable, nothing special. Huge waste of money. Don't go! Pros: honestly none Cons: rude staff, absolutely no atmosphere, overpriced drinks more

Horrible service, lame crowd 4/12/2007

I was meeting with about 15 friends at Stone Rose and we spent well over $1,000 there on drinks alone. We still got very poor service and we were told that we had to put our camera away after we took five pictures. One of us flew across the country just to be there with the group so we wanted to at least have some memory of the event. Furthermore, aside from a couple of other groups like ours, the rest of the crowd was for the most part trashy as was at least half of the staff. The wine list was poor and overpriced, the scotch list -- virtually nonexistant. Basically it's a tourist trap and New Yorkers should avoid it. Pros: Location is somewhat convenient. Cons: Horrible service, poor selection, bad crowd more

hostess made us waste an hour 3/31/2007

We were told that if we waited for half an hour, we would be seated at the table. As if! Even an hour later, the tables were empty but we were told that they were' reserved'. In the end, the hostess gave us a card and said that we should call and reserve next time. Uh, hello? You should have told us in the beginning that you did not intend to seat us? Was tempted to rip the card in her face... Pros: view Cons: rude hostess more

Great service, swinging place, amazing hostesses! 3/12/2007

I was there last Saturday night for a couple of cocktails with my wife and two dear friends. The place was packed with great looking New Yorkers and everyone was having an amazing time! Once again, I got a great table from polite and warm hostesses (if you don't have a reservation, be sure to take care of the hostess and behave like the clientele they are used to serving in that swanky place--complaining and nagging them won't get you very far). The service was absolutely praiseworthy and I don't know how the waitress pulled it off. This place was wall-to-wall packed and I never went more than two seconds without a fresh drink and a clean table. I was able to impress my dear friends and I felt like I was in the hottest party in NYC that night! more

unfriendly 10/29/2006

Was seated (with my date) at a small table and wanted to move to any of many empty chouchs around. When we tried to move an arrogant employee who had initially checked us over in the hall before we were let in came running over to suggest they would be taken by larger groups coming later and we would have to sit at our table. Hope the crowds showed up since we left. Unfriendly staff who are not at all interested in your experience. more

Great Place to Eat 6/19/2006

The view is amazing as you stare out into columbus circle. The food is good and service is impeccable. I little highly priced but, you get what you pay for and you definately will be getting a lot. more

Nice to Check Out but there are other places... 4/15/2006

Ambience is really nice. The crowd is mostly mid 20s-30s and classy/hip. Drinks are kinda overprices. Martinis start at $14. Views are ok, its on the 4th floor and overlooks Central Park. Staff is very warm though, not stuck up. Good to check out for a date or for after work happy hr, not sure about large parties though. There is a DJ on the Sat nite i went, but no space to dance or anything. its more of a mingling place. Pros: ambience, service Cons: drinks are expensive more

Great very - crappy food and service 1/29/2006

I went with a larger group, about 12 people last friday. The waitress started out well but there where many times when we had a table with nothing on it. Really nothing as the busser came and cleaned the empties. He even looked at us and said ""has a waitress been by in awhile?"" So we paid $700 for some of the worde service in recent memory. Don't bother going. Pros: nice view Cons: horrible service, over priced more

Decor, View but cheap cocktails 1/17/2006

Decor is grand and so is the view. But the drinks were overpriced. I was served an expensive drink in cheap glassware. Servers were okay but should be better for such an expensive place. Once is probably enough. Pros: Decor, View Cons: Overpriced, Cheap glassware more

Terrible service/Rude Staff 11/5/2005

We spent over $500 at this place and continued to receive horrible service from the staff. The staff was rude with no sense for customer service. I even complained to the hostess on the way out and she offered no apology. Really amazing. Can't argue that the layout of the place is amazing, but I would definately avoid. The should really they are there for the customer. Lose the condescending attitude when patrons are paying $20/drink. Pros: Scenery Cons: Rude Staff more

Service level drops dramatically 10/29/2005

Service level drops dramatically as soon as your speed of drinking does not meet the high expectations of the waitresses. They won't stop harrassing you until there is a fresh round on the table. When pointed out three times in five minutes that all our glasses were still almost full from the round served ten minutes ago (which was btw the fifth round within the hour), she strongly recommended us to refresh these, because they were supposedly watering down (and that was not an offer on the house). Tells you something about the amount of ice they put in their overprized drinks. My advice, go there once, enjoy the CP views and one drink, then go as quickly as you can and never come back. Pros: views, trendy, location Cons: overprized, unfriendly, disatisfactory more

Really Bad 9/9/2005

At 15+ dollars a drink, you would expect them to be decent but they are horrible. The tuna had a weird after taste. The waitress recommended my drink, and even though I couldn't get more than a sip down, she never commented on my full drink at the end of the night. The view is ok, but only if you are a tourist. Nothing really new here. If you like saddling up to corporate lawyers and I-bankers talking about how much money they spent the night before, this is the place for you. Cons: Very Expensive, Gross drinks, average food more

Check it out 7/2/2005

Stone Rose is a great typically NYC lounge; Rande Gerber's signature style is obvious. The music depends on the crowd (if there's not a live dj, the staff picks a playlist in accordance with the crowd). The staff is INCREDIBLE! I had the best service I've had in a while. They even made a drink special for me as I requested one of their newest flavored vodka's and they hadn't put something on their menu yet! I haven't been yet on a night when the dj's there, but I am confident that it would be great. The best thing about this place is that it isn't cramped because it is uncommonly large for a NYC venue. I felt bad that some of the patrons were harrassing the spectacular bartender, but other than that it was AMAZING! Well done! I'll definitely go back. Pros: Great service!, Nice decor, Spacious Cons: Rude patrons more

Martinis! 6/25/2005

Once inside you will forget that you are in the mall. Very good drink list, with some amazing fresh fruit martinis. Nice view of the park and Columbus Circle. The only downside is being in the Time Warner Center.... Pros: Martinis, View of Park Cons: Time Warner Center more
