Stay Away 6/14/2010

Dr. Stewart was incredibly unprofessional. She spent 2 minutes examining me, and the next 15 minutes telling me how much she hated health care reform and that she was going to vote Republican. I don't personally care about what her politics are, but she barely let me get a word in, and not sure if she ever focused on my exam. I suppose the reason I had to wait awhile in the room was that she was telling other patients how we shouldn't be concerned that not all people can get healthcare...yikes. Pros: Easy to get appointment Cons: Reason that it's easy to get an appointment more

She's all business 9/10/2008

I agree with the other negative posters. Dr Stewart is ALL business. The positive thing is that I became a patient because I needed help asap, so I appreciated them taking me on short notice. I definitely like the 40th st office better than Madison Avenue---it's more airy and it's cleaner. I overlook the 'shabby on the edges' decor for the great care I have been getting from Dr Capalbo. I had three appts with Dr Stewart and I was able to make an informed decision---she is all business, and is in my opinion very rough with the instruments. She is brusque and she tosses the instruments loudly into a pail by her feet. When Dr Stewart had to cancel an appt with me, and have me see Dr Capalbo instead, it was a blessing in disguise. Every person has her own threshold for discomfort...and I wil say that as a woman I was shocked that Dr Stewart's bedside manner was so rough. Pros: Dr Stewart's partner Dr Andrea Capalbo and the office staff are the positives Cons: Dr Stewart has a very brusque manner more

Avoid at all costs! 8/7/2008

I consider myself to have gone to some really high quality doctors and Dr. Stewart is not one them. She is rough and unconcerned. I came there one day, sat for at least an order and she tried to tell her receptionist to tell me to re-schedule because i had originally had an appointment with Dr. Capallbo. I refused and when I did see her, she seemed perturbed and tried to rush me out. In all my years, I have never been to a doctor of her quality. I came to her on recommendation from a friend because I needed to see a doctor immediately (should have known not to take advice from this acquaintance. Don't waste your co-pay there are millions of great, experienced doctors in the city!! Pros: honestly cannot find pros Cons: everything! more

Unprofessional, Cold and Belittling 2/26/2007

Dr. Stewart is by far the worst Gyno I have ever imagined in terms of how she dealt with my questions (by acting almost angry to explain things to me when i asked), by her rudeness (screaming NO!, NO! NO! down the hall instead of talking to me and the nurse in the patient's room), and in the end when she had me crying (at the nurses station) she responded with ""oh, now you are crying! cry over something real!"". I am a young woman who takes the issues of my body seriously and would hope that my doctor considers any concerns of a patients as important and real. Dr. Stewart was highly insulting and belittling and i do not reccomend her to anyone, no joke. Her nurse was understanding and offered tissues when i left, Dr. Stewart just walked away. more

can see how not for everyone... 9/28/2006

i wouldn't assess dr. stewart as uncompassionate...however, she is brisk and no-nonsense. she is also thorough (but very quick). if you are not the kind of patient that will seek out information on your own, or be assertive and ask questions, she is not going to do that for you. i have found her to be very caring and provides excellent care (to the point of being ""overly"" cautious, as she says she provides the care she would want for her two daughters.) the nurses are awesome. alice is funny and caring, she is always candid when i ask her questions. sam is the bomb. seriously. she is a wealth of knowledge and she is so non-judgmental on all things womanly. Pros: quick, efficient, AWESOME STAFF Cons: manner not for everyone...can see how some might not "get" her more

Left with more problems than I entered with.... 6/7/2006

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE bedside manner - where did she go to medical school? A friend reccomneded Dr. Stewart, but I was thoroughly horrified by the way this woman treated me. Literally left me in the exam room crying without giving me a chance to ask any questions. Did an std swab test so quickly and uncarefully that she swiped something else in the process and it hurt to pee for a week. DO NOT SEE DR. STEWART. Oh, and they said they took my insurance, but ended up not, and I had to pay out of pocket. more
