Excellent Starbucks store but very busy in the morning 9/14/2008

This is an excellent Starbucks store, but it is located directly across from Vanderbilt University, so it is very busy serving students and faculty in the morning. The staff is friendly and efficient. The coffee is good. They have a nice seating area that includes four armchairs around a fireplace. They also have a nice outside eating area. Parking can be a challenge -- especially in the morning. Overall, this is an excellent store, just be prepared for a line if you show up in the morning. Pros: Friendly and efficient staff, good coffee, nice seating area with fireplace Cons: Always a line in the morning, parking is limited and often unavailable in morning more

Evil Empire 1/15/2003

Somehow Starbucks has convinced the world that it makes good coffee. I don't get it! The coffee is aweful, the atmosphere isn't much better. Why do people like this place? This rating is like saying McDonald's has the second best hamburger in town. This place has no character, no soul. It's just mass merketed, mass produced junk. But maybe people like it because the evil empire has robbed them of their character and soul. Cons: No soul, Bad coffee, Evil empire more

poor customer service 1/9/2003

the customer service is below par. some of the new workers are not friendly. oh by the way, i love caramel frappucino! more

Starbucks sucks 12/14/2002

If you enjoy burnt coffee, go to Starbucks. Most reputable roasters would use these burnt beans for espresso. Starbucks is fine for a latte, mocha, or anything made with espresso. Just stay away from their regular coffee. Go to Bongo Java, Fido, or Sam & Zoe's. more

why don't they care 9/22/2002

I've heard lots of complaints about the way StarBucks brews their coffee too strongly...or is simply using a poor brewing method. I buy starbucks coffee, and brew lovely coffee at home, but to drink their brew....terrible! Pros: must brew yourself Cons: don't drink their bre, severely bad! more

It made the list?? 9/4/2002

I suppose coming from the Pacific NW, I am too spoiled by good coffee. However, to give Starbucks any rating other than a mediocre 2 or 3 is giving too much credit to this chain of coffee houses. In all fairness, though - if you live in a city that's not known for great coffees, then Starbucks is probably the best you can hope for. Come to Portland or Seattle - sit down for a REAL cuppa. Pros: good selection Cons: cheesey atmosphere, too expensive, annoying music more

Coffee Clones 7/24/2002

Can we say Same Coffee, Different City, Still Boring. Sorry, as chains generally do, this one lack any sense or originality or community. Don't bother unless you're stuck in an airport and have no choice. more
